The hotel was part of a Saga tour

Mar 5th, 2020

This hotel is a little bit out of the way. But the free bus ride to town is worth it. The driver was very friendly and although we did not speak the same language we understood quite a bit. The food is ok with a lot of choices, the rooms were well catered for and the staff superb. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Clean, comfortable and friendly.

Mar 2nd, 2020

The rooms had everything we needed: en-suite, safe, TV, balcony with great view, good range and quality of toiletries [we'd have been happy to go without these, so that the locals could have used them!], comfortable bed and plenty of storage. There are pleasant seating areas on each landing. The food was good, very good by Cuban standards, and service was always efficient and friendly. The station for cooking fresh fish in the buffet restaurant was disappointing, as too often the fish was either over-cooked or partly raw. Currency could be changed at reception and there is concierge service. On the ground level there are several shops and other restaurants. The swimming pool is large and and attractive. One drawback is the location - there are a few bars and shops nearby, but they close early and the hotel bus to the city centre stops running in the early evening. The nearest stretch of beach isn't particularly pleasant. The other drawback for us, and this is obviously subjective, was the loud music / band in the bar area near reception: there were quite a few people like us, who wanted to chat quietly while having a drink and this was impossible because of the excessive volume - this has reduced my score by one star. Thank you, JESUS!!

Feb 29th, 2020

Our stay at Melia Habana was wonderful, and highlighted by our experience on their complimentary bus service. The wonderful driver, Jesús, was very helpful in making a special stop for us. He also told us all about the buildings and history in Cuba as we sat in the front seat. We accidentally left a walled with a large amount of cash on his bus, but he found it and returned with it to the hotel a few hours later without a dollar missing. If you’re looking for a nice hotel with a wonderful bus service to/from other parts in Havana, Melia Habana is a great choice! Make sure to say hi to Jesús for us! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good Hotel

Feb 27th, 2020

This hotel is quite splendid from the first time you walk in. The reception staff were very friendly and a good place to change your money. The bedroom was large and although at the side was with a balcony looking at the sea, Coffee machine is in the room but no tea making opportunities. The buffet breakfast was one of the best in al the Melia Hotel we stayed in and we ate at the Italian within the hotel which was very good. Recommend this hotel TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel

Feb 20th, 2020

We stayed at Melia Habana February 2020. It is a large hotel with impressive interior architecture, from the time it was proudly inagurated by Fidel himself in the 80's. Rooms are really spacy and nicely decorated. Large balconies with nice views. It is located in the suburbs of Havana, but with good communications to the city. The hop on hop off bus has a stop just outside the hotel. Staff is very nice. Breakfast is great but the evening buffet in the main restaurant is not worth the very high price, 25 CUC. Instead try one of the other restaurants - they are very good. In total however, the hotel is a very nice choice for a couple of days in Havana, and is definitely worth its Cuban five stars.
