The staff service was courteous and the room was comfortable. The neighborhood felt safe. The walk to the entertainment was about ten minutes which gave us time to enjoy the weather and walk our meal off. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect location ! Beautiful mansion and a very friendly host, who told us lot's about the mansion and their occupants while we were enjoying the complementary wine and cheese with some other guests. The mansion was built in 1885 as a single family home, they must have had many children ! The mansion has been done up really nicely, our room was very large and in the main building. Also the adjacent rooms seem to look nice to me It was our 4th time in New Orleans always different locations, more towards Bourbon street, but this is the one we would definitely visit again. Very close to where the life music is happening. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely Hotel. It was perfect for the occasion. Did not get a chance to swim because the weather was cold. I live here in New Orleans, and had no idea this hotel was there. I will be returning to this hotel for the french quarter fest. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful stay at the corner of the French Quarter. Mansion is very clean, large rooms, friendly helpful staff. Breakfast and evening snacks (and wine) are included with the price of your stay. The walk to Bourbon’s night life or cathedral area takes about 15-20 min a little under one mile. The area is save and you can walk back to Mansion after a night of fun. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Be Prepared to be Underwhelmed

My now husband and I got married in New Orleans and wanted a fun and unique experience during our stay, so we booked a room at the “Melrose Mansion.” That was the first mistake... we didn’t actually stay at the Melrose Mansion. Our room was located in an entirely separate building down the street, which is extraordinarily misleading. The room, itself, was lackluster and just felt cheaply decorated and unclean. The living room rug had large stains all over it. The comforter had a pink stain on it that someone had clearly tried to scrub away. They were unsuccessful, but rather than replacing the comforter, continued to use it on their guests. Lucky us! The worst part of the room was the shower. We had no hot water ever during our stay. We complained and were told a handyman would come repair it. However, no one ever came and we never heard from the staff again. The drain in the shower was also clogged and/or slow, so we were standing in several inches of dirty water every cold shower we took. It was an overall underwhelming experience, sadly, since this was our wedding getaway, which no one at the hotel even seemed to acknowledge. We spent a considerable amount of money and were extremely disappointed. For the same amount, we could have stayed at a luxury, five-star hotel with a hot shower and clean room. Won’t be making the same mistake again. I will say the good thing about this place is location. You’re within walking distance of Frenchman Street and French Quarter, but that’s about it.
