Great hotel for the price and SU proximity

Nov 1st, 2020

We needed a hotel close to Southern University and you couldn't get much closer than this. The price was amazing but with that price you do have to keep in mind that it's not a luxury hotel. The lobby decor wasn't the best. There wasn't continental breakfast due to Covid. The luggage carts had issues. The carpet was not perfect. But... The room was clean. Our housekeeper Angie was an absolute dream. There was an issue with the residents before us leaving the floor wet (perhaps spilled a drink) and she was quick to run in and try to dry it up and put towels down to cover it. The fridge was broken but replaced the next day. Other than that, it was very comfortable and quiet and I slept sooo good. I felt safe here and it was the perfect price and location for what we needed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Worst hotel experience ever

Oct 31st, 2020

WARNING☠️ WARNING☠️! DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT book this hotel. This has to be the must horrendous hotel I have ever attempted to stay in. Hurricane Zeta hit our home on October 28th. It was a very devastating experience because we usually leave but decided to stay home. My two story home literally shaking, roof blown off, fence down, and siding off the side of my home. In the dark I tried my hardest to remain calm with my 3month old screaming from fear and my 7 year old crying begging me to leave because of the heat. In a panic I booked this hotel. We drove 110 miles to this location. I noticed how ran down the hotel looked upon arrival. Was very disappointed with what was advertised verses what I was seeing. Lobby sofa needs to be replaced, dirty floors, walls not cleaned, moldy smell just standing in the lobby. I had to check again to see if it was a motel. They take absolutely no pride in this building. We were placed on the third floor. In the elevator it reeked of marijuana, hallway floors dirty, walls, and doors dirty. People roaming the halls and loud music playing. My son is 3 months old and when we opened the hotel room door he started to wheeze coughing. He was diagnosed with asthma and respiratorial problems. I called front desk to tell them I could not stay in this room. The manager came and was very rude and unprofessional. She came in the room and immediately said it doesn't smell like smoke. Now I'm being called a lier in my face. We stood up in the room no more than 5 minutes. Didn't touch anything, didn't sit on the beds. Nothing. She tells me very impolitely while texting on her phone I'm trying to get over and she's not refunding me any money. At this point I'm feeling very threaten and upset the way I'm being treated as a paying customer. She also stated her husband is sick in the hospital. I feel like I was being treated unfairly because of personal problems she was taking to work. I told she should understand and have some type of compassion seeing I'm holding a newborn. She tells me she is not in the caring business. At this point my jaw is on the floor and I'm in disbelief. Downstairs I ask for a refund and she refused. I told her I was leaving and gave her the room key back. I decided in 54 degree weather to take my 3 month old and 7 year old kids outside once again to find another hotel. I stayed across the parking lot at the Marriott. A much better hotel. 5 star hotel. Front desk even showed great customer service by giving me a discount on the room after explaining what just happened in tears. She said they get alot of guest leaving that hotel coming to their hotel for the same reasons. I am WARNING anybody who read reviews to stay away from here. It is unsanitary, ran down motel that needs to be closed down. It has drugs addicts and prostitutes flooding this place and is not safe at all. Also I went through priceline and 2 days of going to the hotel pleading with this same manager she still refused and all she had to do was approve the refund to priceline. They made contact with her serval times over the phone. It was that simple. I have gotten in touch with corporate, my lawyer and the better business bureau. I'm am not letting this go. I am very determined to get justice for being discriminated against. I was very aware upon arrival to have my phone on record. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don’t stay here

Oct 28th, 2020

Staff is rude. Angry when they have to wake up to check you out. Same dead roach in the hallway for 13 days. Room had a bad smell. Internet was horrible. Washing machines was horrible. I would not recommend anyone stay here. They also would not give me a refund for checking out early after staying 13 days TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Roaches and bad service.

Oct 16th, 2020

Our room had roaches that we did not see until opening the closet to get hanging clothes in the morning after. Roaches on my clothes! They were small and medium so you know they are infested in some way. I would never recommend coming here in any way, it is a cheap hotel for a reason, spend a little more elsewhere to get a room without roaches and a place that would give a refund if they have you sleeping in bugs. I called and talked to the manager and she said since we slept there we will not receive a refund in any way. How was I going to leave the hotel early if all of the roaches revealed themselves in the morning of checkout? I was told to keep calling back and back to ultimately be told it is my fault. Absolutely terrible! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Will not stay here again!

Sep 2nd, 2020

There is a reason this hotel had openings when all other hotels were full after Hurricane Laura. The smell in the room was so strong we had to keep the door open for a while to air it out. There is no phone in the room so anytime we needed the front desk or anything at all we had to go downstairs. When we asked for an additional blanket and towel we were told the Owner and Manager has them locked up and the front desk is not allowed to hand them out. We went to get ice and the bucket was wet and dirty during COVID-19. The best I can say is we’ve been with out power or AC for almost a week and they had AC. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
