We stayed for 3 nights and I honestly don't think I have ever been made to feel more at home. With the current Crisis so much was uncertain but staff could not do enough to put us at ease and ensure we had a perfect relaxing break. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant, food was amazing and service was impeccable. Certainly made full use of the spa which has everything you need for well deserved pampering and the grounds are gorgeous. Honestly a bit sad to leave, everyone was so friendly, we will certainly be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Customer Service others only dream of

EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM ALL STAFF and this was all the time. Right from the phone call to book we had high hopes for Middlethorpe Hall. The phone was answered promptly details taken and then followed up with an email, personal letter and information attached. When we arrived we were welcomed at the door and our arrival announced to the receptionist. A tour of the key rooms and then we were taken to our couryard room. Dinner was wonderful with exceptional food and again so good to have such professional but friendly staff attending. And are names were used as if we were important guests. Nothing was too much trouble and the desire to provide excellent customer service showed and it was genuine. Breakfast didn't disappoint and yes the rooms and building are older style as fitting with the period, everything was very comfortable. The spa was excellent and we had a warm welcome as well as tea and home made biscuits after using the facilities. We filled in our feedback and got a reply to our comments - so positive. Have not doubt we WILL be back TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Magnificent Hotel & Gardens.

We just returned after spending 4 nights at this hotel ,and in our opinion it is magnificent. The Hotel throughout is outstanding, the gardens stunning, the staff exceptional, friendly, inviting (without being "stuffy"). We were upgraded on arrival to a suite in the courtyard and it was truly superb and a lovely touch by the hotel thank you. From breakfast, to light bites to dinner the quality is fabulous and the service second to none. My wife & i would like to thank ALL of the staff and cannot praise this hotel enough. We have just returned from a two night weekend stay at this lovely country house. The reason for our visit was a family wedding in York. From the warm welcome and the surprise of an upgrade to Courtyard Suite our weekend was very special! We enjoyed a wonderful, comfortable night’s sleep. Wonderful food in a grand dining room. All the staff were courteous, friendly and most helpful. It is set in lovely gardens which we would very much like to see in the summer. We hope to return and enjoy another memorable weekend in the future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We chose to stay here for my wife's birthday and were not disappointed. We were met as we got out of the taxi and the team could not do enough for us. We had a light-lunch in the Drawing Room - the entire building and grounds are stunning. Our room was in the main building, was spacious and the bed was very comfortable and the views over the grounds at the rear were stunning. We used the Spa which is small and cosy and again, managed by a highly proficient and friendly team. The Yorkshire Breakfast was spectacular and served by an attentive team in beautiful, opulent surroundings - the 'home-made' granola was fabulous. The only reason we held back a star on our overall rating is that in areas, it is looking a little-tired and the bathroom in a room that would normally be over £300 a night was a little pokey. If you are attending the York Races and want to push the boat-out, look no further than this venue. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
