Nothing Even Comes Close!

Fantastic accommodations, service, location and view. Our room was well kept, comfortable, and clean. The staff is professional, prompt and friendly. The Inn has implemented Covid precautions efficiently. We wouldn't stay any where else when visiting Lake Placid. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not worth the price

Oct 14th, 2020

Stayed in the terrace building with views of the lake. The view was nice but the room was very sparse. For a resort that prides itself on luxury, could not really identify any element that you would usually expect at a place charging these kind of prices. There wasn't even a coffee machine in the room, no kettle, mini bar, wine opener. The main area of the hotel is charming enough but the rest of the place felt like it was trapped in time and in real need of some updating. Shower system was difficult to work and tub was too shallow to soak in. Couple of redeeming aspects were that they did seem to be taking COVID seriously and several precautions were thought out and implemented, the pool area was nice on a cold day. Short of it is, overpriced and better options in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Covid conscious, many pros, very few cons

Oct 14th, 2020

Located within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Booked a room with partial lake views overlooking the pool and 2 Queen beds at $499/night. PROS: Room included ironing board, mini fridge, 2 robes, digital safe large enough for laptops, DVR, flat screen tv, sitting area with two chairs, blackout curtains to a sunroom sitting area with two wing chairs and an ottoman, chocolate chip cookies upon request at reception, Malin and Goetz toiletries, 2 bureaus with lots of drawer space, a small sink/wetbar area, free Wifi (occasionally spotty). Water pressure was okay. Some outlets had USB plugs in additional to electrical plugs. Very Covid safe - Door had a sticker over the seal to show no one had entered since it was cleaned. The hairdryer, tv remote and phone were all bagged in plastic after they had been cleaned by housekeeping. A laundry bag was provided for used towels upon checkout. Masks worn by all staff. See my separate review for The View restaurant for their safety precautions. When I asked for extra shampoo, it was left on the doorknob in a plastic bag. Motion sensor hand sanitizer dispensers located throughout the building and on elevators. Lobby has wood burning fireplace and lounge areas. There is outdoor lakeside lounge chairs across the street for the hotel guests. They have an indoor pool and jacuzzi and an outdoor pool with a dozen or so lounge chairs. They have gym facilities (you need to wear a mask and get the key from spa reception). Parking is available. SPA: We had two massages which were great. You call before you arrive to make sure there's proper distancing in the reception area (as there is no waiting lounge access during Covid), you must wear a mask when you are face up, but can pull it down when you are face down on the table. They space out appointments for cleaning and ventilation and the therapist always wears a mask. CONS: Digital safe is located on a high shelf in the closet, so it was hard to reach since I'm short, the pool (which was very nice and had plenty of lounge chairs) would be open one day and then closed the next. We enjoyed sitting by the pool (too cool to go in, but others did) and reading in the sunshine, then when we came back the next day, the entrance was locked. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Mirror Lake Inn

Oct 9th, 2020

My sister and I stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn last night. It was lovely. The room overlooked Mirror Lake and the Adirondack Mountains. The room was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable. The pool was large and warm. The hot tub was large and hot. We had dinner at The View Restaurant. The menu was large and varied. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. It was pristine. Lots of attention to sanitation. I LOVED The Mirror Lake Inn and recommend it highly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

In this Era of COVID, They Kept Us Safe

Oct 7th, 2020

We visited for three nights in late September. We were surprised and pleased at all the hotel did to keep us safe--hand sanitizer everywhere, and constant cleaning of surfaces. It is clear that the room was carefully cleaned as well. They really went above and beyond, and it shows. The location is perfect to head into town--maybe a five minute walk. We did not eat at The View due to our desire to only eat outdoors, but we did eat at The Cottage, which was fine and turned out to be a nice evening. There were plenty of places to eat dinner outside in town while we were there.. The gardens around the hotel are beautiful. However, our favorite spot were on the Adirondack chairs on the two docks--pure serenity. We also took out a free paddleboat on the lake. As far as a few comments about the staff, our thought was that everyone we spoke with on the staff was very professional and handled their job appropriately. We did not spend much time in the living areas near the check-in just because we didn't prefer to spend much time indoors in common areas, but in non-COVID times I would be spending hours in their beautifully decorated common areas. Overall, we would highly recommend The Mirror Lake Inn and appreciate all the hotel has done to keep everyone safe. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
