I used to stay at this resort all the time when it was the st.regis and it was fantastic, back then. I gave this property a shot for my birthday week with my girl friend and everything felt off and service was poor. I booked the resort personally and told them it was for my birthday and also made reservations at bourbon steak and the beach club on my actual birthday. The first room they put me in was one of the worst rooms on the property (view wise). It was looking right into a residents garage and it was a corner unit that had three levels of patios looking right into our room. After many attempts to get in touch with the front desk they kindly moved us after a late lunch that we had to have off property (due to nothing being open but the pool cafe, which was at capacity and we couldn’t get in). The room was substantially better, just a pain to move again after traveling all day and not starting your vacation on the right foot. The next day was my actual birthday and my girl friend set up lunch and dinner on property and reiterated it was my birthday. We always pay our way and i don’t expect anything for free, but not one member of the hotel staff, the beach club for lunch, or bourbon steak wished me a happy birthday. On top of that the service felt very off and the food quality at the beach club was below average. My GF ordered the lobster for lunch and it was a 3-4oz tail that i get at the store for $3.99 that they charged $49 for, it also was over cooked and had the texture of a rubber band. We also tried a couple cocktails that were very average for a spot right on the beach. It was a very underwhelming experience for a $400 lunch. Now onto dinner. Dinner was for the most part pretty great. Steak tar app was incredible. A5 wagyu was pretty good. Service was pretty average. I had a 2016 opus one that i had to pour myself the rest of the night once she was open and kept having to ask for my water to be refilled. Something that felt off for a $600 food tab. The furniture was also kind of bizarre, it was patio furniture that wasn’t the comfiest and hard to eat on with all the slits. I understand the Covid rules but feel there are better options that they could have come up with. There are banquets on property quite often. Lastly, my birthday was overlooked yet again and the whole day just felt off. I tried to call front desk but after waiting 10min with no answer hung up. Not impressed and will be at ritz or montage next time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overall, i truly enjoyed our stay. Great customer service. Staff are accommodating, friendly, courteous, and respectful. Thank you for the champagne on the house. You made our celebration extra special. We will definitely come back with our kids and invite friends. I hate to write this, but just to drop a note, insulation in our room is low. We can hear kids jumping from the top floor. Thank you! We had an unforgettable time together. We hope to re visit sooner ;) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great resort and location for trip with family friend. Always enjoy this place and my husbands fav place in southern cal. Despite all changes and mandates due to covid 19, the resort was able to create a pleasant environment for guests TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice resort but better value at other resorts. We’ve traveled to many resorts and this one did not provide what you pay for. Drinks $20 ea., grab n go items triple normal prices, etc. Pool is amazing but on weekends is taken over and crowded by club members. Fitness classes are good but if my equipment is outdoors and separated more than 6ft apart why do I have to wear a mask? Beach is awesome and the gentleman who provides boogie board rentals is great! The steakhouse is a must! The beach bistro open only 3 days is great and should be open more. If you go as a family...recommend going to grocery store. Beautiful property. Shout out to beach rental equipment folks, Sam at the pool, Saul at the bistro, and Thomas and Lyle at Steakhouse! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great but needs covid improvement - group sizing issues

Let me just start by saying that we had a great stay and everything felt safe, but one day at the pool. They rented out 4 cabanas to a HUGE party of 30 plus people. It’s a small pool area by the kid section and I felt it was irresponsible and very distracting to rent out all 4 cabanas to a large party in a small area. Made it impossible to distance yourself. It was far too many people to rent out to at once. I don’t complain but I did this time and they did NOTHING about it. We paid $1000 a night and felt like it wasn’t very responsible of them to allow that large of a party to take over a very small pool area. With that being said, they should have rented out two of the 4 and stopped the party size to 15 or less. Other than that, the rooms were awesome, food was 5 star. Other safety precautions felt good. Service was amazing (besides my very serious concern of a party of 30 being brought to their attention and ignored). Pricey for what you get in all reality, but it was a nice stay. The beach was amazing, get there early on weekends. Great service there too. Cute drive from the hotel to the beach in a cute extended golf cart. Our son loved that. I’d like to see them limit their party sizes in the future before we spend the money to stay there again though. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
