3 night getaway

Jan 12th, 2020

January 2-5 visit 2 couples Entry to the hotel was easy with a private Montage airport pick up and no line at the front desk. The hotel is new but all the departments are very well run. We stayed in 210 a ocean king and liked the room overall. You do hear road noise in the outdoor shower and on the patio. It bothered many in our party who thought we should have known before spending $1500 a night. Bathrooms and bedding are very good. Don’t be shy and ask for water all the time. For some reason turndown doesn’t leave bottles at night. Short walk to the pool and beach where we had no problem securing seats. The beach is public and many outside boats stay in the small bay for the day. The public aspect definitely takes away from the beauty of the area. The water is clean and the staff is ready to help you out for any activity. Mezcal restaurant is good. We enjoyed $$ grilled lobster at the pool both days for lunch and it was excellent. Pool cabanas need to be reserved and are very expensive, but worth it for 2 couples or families. Montage in Cabo is all about yes - making sure you have a great time while you’re at their house. We will be back. Picture View from ocean king / view inside Mezcal restaurant/view outside mezcal/smoking area outside at the end of Marea restaurant/lobster and tortilla lunch TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

One of the Best Beach Resorts in North America

Dec 29th, 2019

Exquisite in every way. I read so many reviews about how excellent the service at the Montage is, but took it for granted until I experienced it for myself! The staff at the Montage go a step beyond the usual Four Seasons/top notch 5 star resorts. The grounds are phenomenal. Restaurants are delicious, beach and pool first class. Rooms are excellent. Location is good in between Cabo and San Jose. We did dinner 3 nights on property and 3 nights off during our 6 night stay and thought that was a perfect balance. (Breakfast/lunch also on property daily). Both restaurants onsite are expensive and a bit of elevated Mexican with a few American options thrown in. Great food - but will wear on you if you are there for a week without leaving. They were getting ready to open a Thai food truck when we were there, should be a fun addition to mix it up. Yes, the Montage is expensive in every way. However, if you are worried about that there are plenty of other places to stay in Cabo for easily half or a quarter the price. We felt the Montage was worth the value due to the overall quality in all aspects. We plan to go back to the Montage in the future. However, speaking of price...we gladly pay up when deserved, but I think there are a few small things you can avoid preposterous fees on. 1) I went to Paletes for 2 black drip coffees our first morning. It was $25 USD/$12 per coffee! That to me just is not acceptable - no resort we’ve been to including 5 Star resorts in the remote Maldives or Bora Bora charge anywhere near that. On the 2nd day we found complimentary drip coffee in the gym (and yes nespresso machines in the rooms - but if you want a basic coffee - go to the gym.) The hotel airport transfer of $280 is also very extreme. We used Eliker transportation for $60 each way and they were phenomenal with nice SUV’s and excellent private service. We used Uber’s to get to dinner offsite and golf. We were hesitant to use Uber at first, but we felt safe and it was most convenient and reasonable. Sounds like Uber legality is a fluid situation in Cabo, so do your diligence before using yourself. Thank you to both Israel’s at the Marea pool bar - excellent bartenders with great recommendations! Edgar, one of the manager’s, was also most helpful to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Also - we had no issues with securing prime pool/beach chairs each morning. We were there the week before the Christmas rush (dec 12-18) , so I can’t speak to prime time on season, but I imagine it is still much more relaxed than the larger resorts in North America that have 300+ rooms fighting for chairs. We have stayed at Montage Kapalua Bay in Maui as well, and felt the Cabo location was superior. Overall better chance for good weather, better food, better beach and water recreation, overall service, and layout. Thank you Montage for a wonderful time - we will be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Incredible service

Dec 26th, 2019

My wife surprised me with a 40th birthday trip to Montage Los Cabos and it was spectacular. The resort is very beautiful and the grounds are perfectly manicured, but the "standout" feature - as others have noted - is the service. We were greeted warmly, by name, all over the resort and all staff went out of their way to make our stay special. I thought the spa was the best I have ever seen - it was huge, new and I was the only person in the men's section...besides the several staff members. We played tennis one day and again, were the only people there. The staff had arranged for a selection of tennis rackets to choose from, and the court complex was set up with cool water, towels, sunscreen, etc. Our concierge came to check on us throughout the stay, which reinforced the personal touch. My favorite memory from the trip was the sunrise kayak excursion - we took off just before sunrise directly from the beach and it was peaceful and beautiful...a great way to start the day. The food was excellent, but it is worth noting that everything is very expensive and there are not really any moderately-priced alternatives on-site. This is not a complaint, just an observation. Everything seemed to be of the highest quality and we really enjoyed our stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
