The inn is located in a serene location, about 10 minutes from the center of old town Bluffton and is like a world unto itself. People are very friendly there, always accommodating. A lovely sanctuary! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice resort

Feb 20th, 2020

I stayed here for a wedding on the property. It's a pretty typical 5-star resort, which is to say it's very nice & very expensive. One feature is the giant property -- the hotel is several miles from the property's security gate. There are endless trails that are excellent for running and biking. Since the weather was cold, there were a lot of bonfires outside all the buildings, which was a really nice touch. I'd go back when the weather was a bit warmer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Average... At Best [After visiting every Montage Hotel]

Feb 17th, 2020

My family and I have visited every Montage Hotel [except Kapalua Bay]. Since we live near the Montage Laguna Beach, we have grown to know the exceptional service that Montage lives by. Alan Fuerstman and his team have done an amazing job to find the most talented people, and provide them with first class training. I must say, out of all of the Montage Hotels, Montage Deer Valley is an experience like no other. With all of that said, my family and I decided to give Montage Palmetto Bluff a try. Arrival: Unlike all of the other Montage Hotels, I had to personally reach out 2-3 times (until I received a response). I wanted to make reservations at restaurants prior to our arrival. After a few attempts, I was able to schedule the reservations I wanted. I emailed 45 days prior to our arrival to make sure they knew it was both of my daughters birthdays the day we arrived and I would gladly pay for any cake, decor, etc. that Montage could put into the room as we entered. When we got to our room, nothing was set up, and the room was not cleaned. The experience was a bit disheartening upon our arrival. Room: We had a One Bedroom Suite. While it was an amazing room... Housekeeping didn't clean it once during our 5 day visit. During our stay it rained and needless to say, it needed a cleaning. Housekeeping team members were often found walking the property on their cell phones (after dark) and were not that friendly. I personally called the head of housekeeping to inform them of this. Challenges: * Too many guests, not enough experienced service members. Employees seemed flustered and frustrated with their jobs [just my opinion] and the hotel was not properly staffed to handle the vacancy. * This property is meant for the residents, not tourists visiting. I HIGHLY encourage people considering a travel, to visit the other Montage properties and not this one. While it is breathtakingly beautiful- the staff only take care of the residents. Restaurants are ALWAYS full with locals, thus if you want to grab a last minute lunch or dinner, you are screwed- as they were full during our visit. Bartenders are quick to help residents before guests. * Golf carts: It is very cool that Golf Carts take you to and from the hotel... when they actually pick you up. At least 5-6 times, I text/called for a golf cart to take us to dinner [as it was raining] and 45 min later- they never showed. In the dark, we ended up taking an umbrella and walking. I made it clear to the Montage team that we were not happy with our stay and they provided us with a comp'd meal- which I was very appreciative for. Elise even went so far as to let us know the hotel was going through some growth changes and she was going to provide us with 2 free nights--- which I never heard back from her. Overall, this property is beautiful. It is a staple for the community that is built within. It is not a tourist destination where they treat every vacationeer like valued treasure. The hotel is surrounded by residential properties and the residents needs take priority over everyone. If you are traveling here, be warned that if you do not have a reservation for dinner, bicycles, or recreation events- you will be out of luck. Book way in advance, as the locals take advantage of everything offered. Highlights: * Every meal we had was to die for. The food on and off of the property was AMAZING! The chefs and menu's offered are top notch. * We took a Mimosa sunrise cruise on the MAY and it was incredible. The staff and items offered on the cruise were first class. * The grounds were well manicured and taking bikes around Palmetto Bluff is an amazing experience. Overall, we will continue to support the Montage brand and plan to visit Kapalua Bay soon. We unfortunately will not be back to visit Montage Palmetto Bluff due to our experience. The best of the best...

Is 6 or 7 stars allowed?! Service, food, vibe, decor, and grounds were all waaaaay above average, superb even! Service- the attention to detail in every aspect of your stay is remarkable. From the moment we entered through the main gates took the valet closed our door to leave, we were addressed by name, and so well taken care of. Concierge was super helpful and personable 24/7. Their ability to anticipate our needs was everything. Offering water every time you are at valet, remembering names after dining several times and grabbing ice to put in the cooler without us asking( for our ride home). I sure hope they treat their staff well, because everyone we encountered was polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about all the resorts offerings. Food- each dish that was put in front of us was well seasoned, a large portion size and creatively plated. You could tell the pride and thought the chef takes in their dishes. The salmon on corn cakes, Cobb salad, breakfast sandwich, and short ribs were standout favorites. S’mores at the fire pit at night were clutch. Spa- talk about pure relaxation. The massage was so relaxing I fell asleep. HydraFacial so good, my face had a glow for close to a week. And the spa area was clean, fresh smelling and romantically and simply decorated. All guests have access to the hot tub, adults only pool, sauna, and relaxation room. Grounds- the main entrance was still a 10 minute drive from the lobby. The grounds were green, lush, perfectly manicured, swings, golf, corn hole, small market, chairs, kayaks, and so much more. A shuttle can drive you around, or hop on a bike, or walk this southern paradise. It’s just so serine. Room- the rooms were a large size, plush bedding, bathroom huge with a tub, mini bar and snack fully stocked, and room service or the concierge are at your fingertips. All in all, it was the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. Pricey experience, but worth every penny! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
