Glad I stayed at the Montien Hotel Bangkok

Feb 2nd, 2020

Friends recommended this hotel in center of Silom, and I am glad I stayed here. Arrived late in the evening, took the Bangkok Airport Link to the city Center, and the hotel is within walking distance to the Silom Station. 1. Montien Hotel Bangkok is right behind a Burger King, as it is away from the busy street, it’s quieter than other hotels nearby. 2. The hotel price is very reasonable considering its location in Silom. It’s not a fancy 5 star hotel, the room size is very decent, hotel amenities, a mini fridge, safe, and free wifi work very well. 3. Check-in is quick and easy, staff speaks good English and friendly, work very efficiently. Big lobby, 2 elevators in the hotel, swimming pool, and a dinner room. 4. We booked the room with breakfast, surprised with the verities of spreads it has. As the hotel is popular among Japanese tourists, it serves sushi and miso soup which made me very happy. It offers both Asian and western foods with a omelettes station. Fresh fruits and a few selection of juices, cofffee and tea, as well as a salad bar. 5. Hotel Sales Manager Athita was talking to the guests to make sure they enjoy their stay. Restaurant staff are very helpful and cheerful. 6. The hotel is a bit old, believe the hotel is under reno to have all their room updated. Only one thing I would suggest to have it done first is to have phone charge station installed as I can only find a socket in the washroom and one beside the TV above the desk to plug my phone charger. Would be nice to have one by bed. All in all, very happy with the hotel, bed is comfortable and feel safe and well taken care of in the hotel. Many restaurants and markets nearby, the famous Patong night market is a few minutes walks away, and the BTS transportation line near the hotel makes it easier to travel i the crowded Bangkok. Watch your kids

This was our last stop for our Thailand trip. Foyer is big and beautiful with great reception staff. Checkin was done slowly antiquated way and we were given a bell with key to our 2 rooms and a little book with slips that had our names. We were asked to leave key at reception when we go out and claim it back with the slip. Walking to our room was like walking in ship. The rooms were very clean however was antique. Carpets are well worn out. Toiletries provided and linen was fresh. We had a great first night discovering Patapong night market just opposite the hotel. Besides it this place is well known for go-go bars and night club, which is directly opposite the hotel. Second night was when somebody walked to my girls room, used a key with bell and opened their door. Lucky they heard the bell on the key because they were awake and the door chain was on and it jangled. They jumped slammed it shut, telling me only the next morning. Stuff happens so we cautioned our girls the next night -jammed chair on door of adjoining their room and I made sure door chain was on and locked before I went to my room. My daughter texted me at 12.20 their door was opened again second night in a room and just left. My husband and I rushed out. Nono was in corridor, I went to reception to see nobody there. However a guy in fire exit called the night manager ( till today I wondered what he was doing there). It took good 7-10 minutes to get his team up to my girls room who were badly shaken with the events. We were convinced someone had key to the room so the girls were moved to adjoining room to us. The connecting doors were opened much to my relief. There were no security camera in level 5 corridor. One points only to lift however just beyond the lift is a huge fire exit and housekeeping place with staircase thus anybody could walk-in and out via that. Though the management was apologetic, and catered by moving my girls to a room next to us which was far better, nothing came out from their investigation. This left us all unsettled and extremely shaken. It’s not hard to think what would have happened if the girls did not notice the door ajar. Security is lax and it seemed deliberate. Please think carefully before booking any hotel with young kids. I have indeed leant my lesson. Pay more have adjoining rooms not even opposite like we had. Ensure security is available including camera and a manned reception. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Location + affordable = Montien!

Jan 13th, 2020

You can't beat the location, so convenient to a range of stations, and right across from the night market. It's a really affordable rate smack bang in the middle of the action: I don't know what more you'd need! Yes it's dated and a little scruffy in the rooms, but for the affordable price tag not sure what people expected. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A little disappointed

Dec 29th, 2019

This was our return visit to the hotel from last year. Still cannot fault the location and ever friendly doorman. However, the facilities seem to be getting more run since our previous stay. It was a disappointment. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not as good as expected

Dec 7th, 2019

I have been staying at this hotel many times but it was more than 15 years since last time. The hotel has not been maintained in a proper way though and I was sad to see this but I was glad to see Mr "Tic", always joyful and helpful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
