Moon Palace Sunrise

Jan 19th, 2020

We visited Moon Palace Sunrise in Jan 2020 with group of 11 people. We stayed for 5 nights and 6 days. Pros: 1) Nice and well maintained property. You can visit and have access to other Moon Palace Nizuc property. 2) Nice entertainment and pool side activities. 3) Bartenders, restaurant servers, pool side servers, entertainment staff were nice and friendly. 4) Rooms were clean. 5) My son's latest Airpods were stolen from the backpack including the box at the pool side or inside the room. So BEWARE and be careful of your belongings. Cons: 1) Hard to get reservations for a group of 11 people in any 13 restaurants on site. 2) You can't reserve a table in any restaurants even a day in advance. You have to call on the same day starting at 10 am. 3) The resort app is not great at all. Half of the time it does not work. The staff tells you yo use app to reserve restaurant. 4) If you are looking for nice beach, forget about it. Lots of sea weed, brown murky water even though far you can see blue water. Constant bull dozer and trucks on the beach to gather seaweeds. We did not step on the beach to enjoy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our stay at Sunrise was a wonderful experience The suite was awesome and the service was exceptional. We want to stress the very attentive and personnalized service of 2 Diamond concierges, Violeta and Celic .and also the kind services of Raoul and Reyna, 2 waiters at the Gondola restaurant and of Felipe Castillo of the room service team. All these warmful poeple made our stay more pleasant. Thanks to all of them Johanne and Gérard. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

First ever Mexican trip

Jan 18th, 2020

Amazing!!! This was our family’s first trip to Mexico and to an all inclusive resort. Our weeklong vacation was what we were hoping for. In the past we usually stick to Canadian or American cities. We wanted this trip to be relaxing compared to our planned activity filled vacations. Moon Palace Sunrise delivered what we were hoping for. Once we were checked and settled we quickly got the lay of the land. I as the mom was really looking toward sitting by the pool and reading while sipping on drinks all day. I must first say that I would recommend finding an area of the large pool and staying put in that area for the duration of your stay. Why, because you can get to know your poolside server and with that rapport drinks will show up regularly without your having to flag your sever down. I want to especially mention our server Olivia, she was an excellent server and as we got to know us she would bring us water and our favourite beverages as she saw we needed them, which was amazing considering we were there during one of the busiest weeks. The picture I have posted (yes I stole it off the internet) is exactly where we sat most of the week. This had three advantages for us. First our server Olivia, proximity to food/bathrooms and close to the entertainment team. Yes the music was loud(ish) but the entertainment team was amazing and kept our 11 year old son busy all day everyday so I could read without too many interruptions. The teams members we interacted with includes Alex, Jeronimo, José, Ernesto, Ximena, Fernando, Fernanda, Marya & Francisco. These guys were so fun and engaging as a team and individuals. Each day starting around 10 am and ending around 6 pm they had hourly activities that everyone could participate in from beach volleyball, aqua exercise, water polo, music trivia, relay races, dancing lessons, floating yoga, corn hole/horse shoes and bracelets. I personally only participated in the aqua exercise but our son did many of the activities each day besides hanging out in the pool. After a hard day of lounging around we needed to have a good dinner. Sunrise and Nizuc had so many options that we didn’t have time to try them all but we did try a different place each evening. We tried Pepe’s Pizza (Server Lucia), Momo Teppanyaki , Arrecifes (Carlos), Palapa Asadero (Carlos), Riveria Maya, Pier 8 (Serving team Poncho Tequila/Gregorio & )& La Gonda (Carlos “whitecap” Wicab). All the food was fantastic and the menus had something for all types of eaters. Other places we ate at was Breakfast buffet at la Gondola (Edy, Ana), lunch at Bugamilia buffet (ceviche bar), Los Columpios Bar aka “the Swing Bar” (late evening drinks with Edgar). And cafe Bistro for Macaron’s. A pleasant surprise was the Twinings tea, with flavours I only found in England previously. We had a superior deluxe garden room with a king bed. We had a cot delivered to the room for our son. The rooms are not gigantic but suited us as we spent most of our time outside. They are well equipped with all the usual amenities and included full size blow dryer and flat iron. We were located in the Pinã building and the distance wasn’t far to get to the pool or restaurants at Sunrise and it was also a short walk to the pool and restaurants at Nizuc. With our resort credits we decided to get a couples massage at the golf course Spa. The whole process was lovely and Olga and Carla did a great job, my husband fell asleep. We also did a trip to a dolphinarium with resort credits and while it’s controversial to go, the emphasis was on ocean health and conservation. We chose a location close to the resort so it wouldn’t take up the whole day. A final huge feature of the resort is their reverse Osmosis water treatment facility. All water in the rooms and around the resort was processed and safe to drink. Being Mexico rookies we still brushed our teeth with bottled water. However we felt comfortable drinking water in a glass at the restaurants. Overall an great trip and we will be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
