Morrison-Clark Historic Inn & Restaurant Washington

May 22nd, 2019

Would we stay at the Morrison Clark again - NO The room was fine although the bathroom was small. We were allocated a room at the front corner of the hotel so there was some traffic noise. It was also in the old part of the hotel and the floor had quite a slope on it meaning you had to hold the wardrobe door open all the time. There was no coffee maker in the room which was the first indication this hotel wanted to make their guests pay extras. With tip a cup of tea cost $5 Beware of Happy Hour. The bartender deliberately gave us drinks that did not qualify for the 2 for 1 offer and more annoyingly thought it was funny. The breakfast was fine although thrown onto the plate on one occasion we were presented with the bill with the tip at 20% already added and told to just sign it. We didn't use the restaurant for dinner as there was nothing we particularly liked on the menu and found a couple of nice restaurants very close by. These little things took the edge off our stay and would look to say somewhere else next time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Historic Charm plus Great Service & Location

May 19th, 2019

The room was very comfortable - comfy bed and large bathroom with great water pressure in the shower - and quiet (we stayed in a Victorian room facing the courtyard). The service was very good as well. Workneh and Farzed and the other staff were very attentive. We really appreciated Workneh's smiling face and help with our bags when we departed. The woman who served us at the restaurant was also very attentive and friendly (wish I could remember her name) as was the front desk staff. The hotel is convenient to many landmarks in DC and has an interesting history along with beautiful decor. It would have been nice if there was a "green" option - for example, the choice to re-use your towels rather than get fresh ones every day - but that was a minor thing. I prefer to stay in smaller, boutique hotels and would definitely recommend the Morrison Clark Inn. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Location, location, location!

May 16th, 2019

I learned that there would be a citywide convention over the dates of my trip so I knew to book early or rates would be crazy high. I had some reservations about booking because the rate I found seemed too good to be true (you get what you pay for). But after reading many good reviews, I decided to give it a go. So happy I did! Not sure when it last renovated but everything is in very good condition and has an interesting Asian vibe to it. I had a standard queen room on the 6th floor (top floor) which is nice and quiet as it is an interior room (not facing the street) that overlooks the courtyards of 3 other buildings. The hotel has its own courtyard, a nice spot to relax in the sun and have a cocktail. The room had a minibar with items that are actually affordable! Glad I could use the minibar fridge to keep some beverages cold. Free bottled waters and free WiFi (not secured). Nice size bathroom, big shower with rainfall shower head, free shoe shine, safe, robe, slippers, and outlets at the base of all the lamps, which I like so that I don’t have to crawl on hands and knees to plug in my devices. No USB ports though. Location is great. Cozy Corner coffee shop and CVS is about 3 mins away on foot, about 5 mins from convention center, and a leisurely 10-15 mins walk to Chinatown if you’re searching for restaurants. All the major site-seeing spots are just a short Uber ride away. The doormen were friendly, the neighborhood is safe, and the hotel is very clean and very quiet, which made for a perfect home base for a business trip so that I can work in peace and get some quality sleep. The only very minor things to comment on are that the TV is small, not enough lighting in the bedroom (the bathroom itself is VERY well lit), and no chair except for the desk chair. I had a great stay overall and will definitely go back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best value in DC

May 16th, 2019

Spent 2 nights there on business, and spouse came with me. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Staff were kind and competent and left us alone unless we asked for help. The whole place was quiet and classy and in a perfect area--close enough to walk to everything but just outside the noisy core. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Regrettable Restaurant

May 15th, 2019

We are locals and ate at the restaurant for Mother's Day Brunch, 2019: Although the food was good quality and reasonably priced, the service was ABYSMAL. I mean ridiculously bad. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed and clueless, like they didn't know what they were supposed to do. We waited about 20 minutes to be shown to our table, although the table was free; it was just sitting there unbussed. I asked to see a drink menu and got it 25 minutes later. We waited over an hour (with a hungry child) for any food to arrive, and it still arrived before the drinks did. Water glasses sat empty during the meal. We weren't the only ones having a bad experience; I overheard others complaining, asking to see the manager, etc. If Morrison-Clark is going to have a restaurant, then they have to do better than this. If they can't do better than this, then they should just offer a self-service breakfast buffet to hotel guests and leave it at that. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
