Great family get away

Aug 16th, 2019

We stayed for the first time and had a great trip. So much to do for the adults and kids. The food was great the service was wonderful. The kids enjoyed the camp the pools and the game room. Adults did axe throwing and enjoyed a drink on the veranda. We will be visiting again soon. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing place to stay!

Aug 16th, 2019

Stayed at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa recently for a business retreat. Our time was generally taken up with work conferences so I was not able to take advantage of all of the activities and opportunities available on site. I was particularly disappointed not to have a chance to try the Ax Throwing ~ after all, who wouldn't love that? Also missed seeing the llamas... But, I have to say that the place is absolutely amazing! The building is a beautifully maintained, clean and welcoming historical place. Sitting on a front porch rocker with a book and cup of coffee is a wonderful way to start the day! The rooms are bright and clean; staff is friendly and provided excellent customer service. Hopefully I will make it back to the Mountain View Grand with time to take advantage of its many amenities. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful location and views

Aug 13th, 2019

Great location, enjoying magnificent views of the White Mountains. Very comfortable bedroom. Buffet breakfast ok but rather busy for my taste. The wine cellar dining room experience was a little disappointing - only one other table occupied that evening. Food ok but not amazing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely relaxing stay in a well restored historic setting

Aug 11th, 2019

This was our second visit -- the first having been just two years after the resort was re-opening back in 2001-ish. And we were so happy with the results of the continued renovations that have made it such a lovely place to stay. We had two rooms (adjoining) as we were traveling with our young teens. The two rooms were adjoined via very deep closets offering easy access, privacy and a convenient place to store commonly used items. There are not many of these rooms available so you should reserve them well in advance but know that they view the back of the property so you compromise view for that convenience. (Well worth it for us.) Activities were offered throughout the day and we did partake in a few. The visit to the farm was great for adults and children alike, s'mores by the campfire and axe throwing offered a good way to interact with other guests. Both the indoor and the outdoor pool are absolutely perfect. Well designed changing rooms, pool side activities, and heated pools enhance enjoyment. Food service was varied enough for a three day stay. We did thoroughly enjoy dinner in The Cellar which offers chef dinners in an intimate setting (8-10 tables) in the original wine cellar. I do not recommend the on premise hiking trails. Not really well marked, some were closed (but we were not made aware), and the bugs made the walk challenging. We do not golf but the views from the golf course were terrific. In the afternoons the large, well furnished front porch offers a lovely, quiet place to read, play a game, or listen to music (offered in the evenings) with a magnificent view of the mountains. Likewise, inside the deep sofas and chairs with large tables offer a great place to gather and read or play a game. Additionally, there is a lovely, quiet library with a working fireplace for quiet reading. The spa has been beautifully restored. The changing room was well appointed with showers and amenities. We scheduled treatments for arrival day which helps get us into the relaxation mode right away. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The perfect visit

Aug 9th, 2019

Well, mother nature grace us with 4 beautiful day during our visit. We spent ea. morning on the expansive, wonderful, front porch. On several evening after dinner in the hotel we also sat on the porch accompanied by piano music. The porch overlooks the Presidential mountains range with sweeping views for miles, very, very nice. The Bell staff were outstanding and in afternoon there is waiter/waitress's available to bring drinks etc. while you relax. Cleanliness of the hotel and rooms is outstanding. The hotel has a large bar area and 3 restaurants. Breakfast was out-of-sight, try the blueberry pancakes smothered with blueberries. Both breakfast and dinner menus are very good selection. And the best part---wait for it---CASUAL is the key word here. Nice shorts and sporting tee and you are good to go for breakfast and dinner, however the layout of the hotel says nice casual sportswear. The grounds surrounding the hotel are filled with flowers, nice walkways, sitting areas, gazebos, porches etc. 9 hole golf course. Many, many daily activities with fun as the key word here. Want to learn to throw an axe? this is the place! The hotel is located about 45 min. drive to trailheads for Mt Washington and many other mountains and parks in the area. The hotel rooms themselves are a tight however, the views and cleanliness make up for this. If you need a refrigerator or microwave you will need to order this as they do NOT come with the rooms. The bathrooms were spic and span to the highest level. The bed was very comforting. The surrounding area has several small. quant, New England type towns with excellent restaurants and shops to visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
