Overview
Near the southern edge of Denali National Park, the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge reminds visitors of a remote outpost: Nothing but wilderness surrounds this rustic hotel, which welcomes Princess cruisers and landlubbers alike and offers a variety of ways to experience the Last Frontier. Three hiking trails are accessible from the lodge (the McKinley Hill Trail gives the most impressive mountain views), and the tour desk can help arrange anything from rafting trips to glacier treks. As for the lodge itself, some guests say that there's not much to distinguish this hotel from other Princess properties. Guest rooms are cozy, yet somewhat bare, and the food served at the on-site restaurants is described as tasty, but nothing to write home about. That said, visitors do praise the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge for its outstanding customer service.

Critic Reviews
When the sky is clear and Mt. McKinley is visible, this lodge has excellent views of North America's highest peak, especially from the lobby, which has two-story windows. On private land inside Denali State Park, this hillside lodge overlooks the Chulitna River.

On a wooded hillside 100 miles from the park entrance, this luxe hotel has a striking view of the mountain, which is only 42 miles away, as close as any major hotel gets. The Princess cruise line runs it like a resort, with a full set of activities and good hiking trails on-site, since nothing else is nearby. Rooms are beautifully appointed and fit the setting.

Set in a number of lodges, rooms feature a contemporary mountain wilderness motif. Regular shuttle service is offered to all areas of the property. Guests can listen to a number of interpretive talks from past climbers of Mt. McKinley.

More isolated, spread out and economical than other Princess lodges, the McKinley retains a laid-back rustic atmosphere that’s not a million miles from a national park lodge. The view of the iconic mountain (should it reveal itself) from the main building’s deck is probably worth the room rate alone.
