Good location: not the best Marriott

The hotel is located in midtown and a short walk from Grand Central Station - so a great exploring base if you're a tourist. Also plenty of places to eat nearby to satisfy most budgets. The hotel itself is somewhat worn and tired like so many mid-range Manhattan hotels. The bedrooms are small by USA standards, but perfectly adequate if you are not planning on spending much time in it . The bathroom in particular is small [room 716] but has an excellent bath and a shower over that really works well. Good selection of toiletries provided that are replaced each day. The usual tea & coffee machine and decent sized flat screen TV provided. Dated decor, but comfortable bed and it's all clean throughout. Some traffic noise, but hey this is NYC with all the horns blaring and emergency sirens going 24/7. There is a very helpful and knowledgeable concierge service. The business centre has friendly staff and has an M Club for breakfast and snacks through the day. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Average. Not bad, not amazing. But location.

Ignoring the building is old which I think is a plus as it creates charm, this place gave mixed feelings. The good is location as a big good. Also staff were amazing and access was fantastic for a busy spot. Downsides aren't that it needs a reno, but items sorted like poor air extraction, noisy hallways, improved air con and better food. Overall it was ok, and we didn't leave disappointed but let to think what other options exist for next time? Oh, and we don't care about the complaints of room service not available, it's Manhattan, go out the front door and walk 5 mins! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Brilliant NYC stay

First of all, I’d like to say a massive thank you to Barbara for making our stay even better than it would have been for us prior to arrival! This hotel was absolutely perfect in every way for our trip. The room was spotless and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing as was the service we received from all staff members. The hotel is positioned brilliantly for tourists. Around a 10 minute walk from Times Square so you’re close to all the excitement of NYC but also away from all the noise as well as the hustle and bustle. Subway station literally 2 minutes walk away which is so simple to get to from JFK airport. Will definitely look to stay here again if we visit New York City anytime soon. We’ll also be recommending it to anyone who is considering a trip to NYC. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Will not recommend at all

I stood here for 4 nights, the room was fine, but once we arrived for the checkin, we were notified that a “hotel fee” of $25.00 per night was going to be charged, I was not happy about that as I was not expecting to pay extra after the online booking was made. During my stay, a new dress that I had just bought and placed in it’s bag in my room was stolen from the room. It was not missing, it was stolen apparently by the housekeeping staff and the only response I got from the hotel administration is that they cannot do anything as the dress was never found. Not a refund or anything. Thanks, I will never use nor recommend this hotel ever. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not the best NYC option...

It's very dated, which I could look past except they are overlooking the details around cleanliness. For example, hair on the bathroom towel (noticed it right when we walked in so obviously wasn't mine), a broken window blind (I would have had a nice view of the river if it worked), the rug was wet for some reason near the bed, not sure why. The bathroom door was filled with rust and some rotting. For a lower price you can find a much cleaner and updated hotel in that same location. Gave it the 2 circles since the staff was very friendly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
