A great place to stay

Nov 17th, 2020

This was a great place to stay. The rooms are larger than any I have ever stayed in while in New York. You are right at Times Square and it is convenient for everything. Always felt safe. They don't let people off the street into the hotel. Elevators are fast and convenient. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good stay

Nov 3rd, 2020

The beds were nice as were the linens. We will likely stay here again for future visits. We really liked the staff, they were all very courteous and friendly! We did not have a single issue during our entire stay of 4 nights. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice room - but still so much not open during COVID

Oct 28th, 2020

We stayed here this week and wish we'd known that the entire hotel seems is under construction and literally nothing is open. The beautiful lobby on 8th floor is completely under construction and a temporary setup with one person staffs a kiosk on the 3rd floor. Expected limited services, didn't expect no service, and didn't expect to be staying in a property completely different than what we expected in the Marquis. I was not advised anything about the workout facility, it looked closed all the time. The restaurants closed entirely. Even the Starbucks was closed. When I checked in, I was asked what state I came from, then asked to provide a copy of my NYC entry online document screen shot, which I had no problem with. I was then informed that housekeeping was not available for me due to my state of residence. I said I didn't want anyone in my room during my stay anyway. It was strange to be informed this, but understood. I got back to my room the next day and it had been accessed & cleaned! All areas, towels, bed, etc. I wish I'd left my Do Not Disturb sign out but this is the first time since COVID that I've had housekeeping go into my room esp when I was informed they could NOT come. Seems strange to comment as a negative that housekeeping provided service and it was a mistake I'm sure. I've stayed at other Marriott properties recently and they provide some accommodation for breakfast, a carryout breakfast, or voucher for their Starbucks or something, but nothing provided here. On the positive side, the rooms are modern and spacious especially for Manhattan. There's a small coffeemaker and refrigerator in the room. Couch and chair also which was very nice. Be aware of how limited services and accessibility are at this hotel during these COVID times. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent views of Time Square! VERY secure hotel!

Oct 16th, 2020

This hotel is located right in the middle of all the action in Times Square! At check in we requested a room with a view overlooking Time Square, and our wish was granted! Had an excellent view from the 44th floor overlooking the New Years ball. Also, in the distance between the skyscrapers we had a view of the State of Liberty. We were in room 4436. We felt VERY secure at this hotel. You can't get past the guard without your key. Then once past the guard, you can't get on an elevator until you get your key. Then once on the elevator, you're only allowed to access the floor you're staying on. We loved this hotel and hope to stay here again in the future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Updated review

Oct 10th, 2020

New review, So after getting a call from Tony I decided to re-evaluate my review, forgive me for forgetting his last name. I spoke with Tony, who called right away after reading my review. We spoke for awhile on the phone and it was not a typical blah conversation. It was like speaking to an actual human being. He let me speak, didn’t get defensive and gave me a sincere apology. Now in my opinion whoever the manager was on duty that day should be re-trained or let go for not doing her best at the job she has accepted, however, this is just my opinion. Tony was able to get me taken care of and I feel I owe it to him and the Marriott brand for a new review. I will leave the old review below along with Tony’s response. I switched the rating from terrible to average. This average response will remain because of what happened that day and the fact the hotel was under different operating procedures due to Covid. I will gladly stay again in another trip to manhattan as I normally stay true to the Marriott brand. FYI, Tony, nor Marriott has asked me to redo my review, or remove it. It’s now going on 55 minutes. My fiancé has called downstairs twice to get soap. All 3 dispensers are out. I understand there’s a pandemic and they are short on staff, well from what the lady downstairs said they have one housekeeper for a 40+ story hotel SMH... just one. I don’t understand how they can leave a guest waiting for toiletries. My room is freezing cause we like it that way and I don’t want to step out and back in and risk being sick... yes I guess I am being petty, but why would this be my fault. The staff is rude, besides the lady who checked us in (she was nice), and the manager is worse. I’ve stayed at plenty of Marriotts, and I actually am a builder who has built the Marriott brand. This Marriott does not hold up brand standards. The gym is open from 5:30 to 11:30, and in my opinion those are just weird hours. It’s like they are trying to force you in and out. There is no breakfast so you have to order or leave, which leaves you no time really hit the gym unless you disturb your sleep. It was really noisy last night in the hotel for a 10-20% occupancy so I’m “guessing” they are loading the floors. As I write this I am still waiting for toiletries. Why can’t the manager just bring them herself? This is not leadership. She should be fired for running the Marriott brand in this way. Looks like I should have used our timeshare instead. Now my question is, why were the containers not filled in the first place when the room was initially cleaned. We will be leaving and I will just eat the cost and book elsewhere. I’m not going to let Marriott or their rude manager ruin my stay in New York. I put the day of stay and the room number so they know. We will call Priceline to see if they can help us with a reimbursement for our own toiletries which my fiancé has just left to buy or a refund for the room. We are leaving! Hi, I apologize for the experience you had during your stay at our hotel. We fell short of your expectations, and quite frankly - our own judging by the feedback you provided. I will take your feedback and share with our team as a retraining opportunity. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
