Management obviously does not care about customer satisfaction and comfort

no coffee available til 7-people lining up at 630 for coffee. I have yet to see a person "cleaning high frequency." Touch areas"No place to eat unless you go to mall which opens at 11. A ll other restaurants ( though they have much less space than this resort, manage to be open and creative in their seating and covid guidelines for outside seating. I would think a property as large as this would be creative enough t find a place for restaurant or breakfast. We are titanium elite members (thanks for the 1000 points, however it doesnt fix my morning coffee fix or my empty belly).. But the supposed "room upgrade " was a joke. Decor is dated, the carpet had sp o ts and amenities were subpar. We arrived at 530pm on Friday...the line was huge, reception was confused and not trained. No Bon Envoy staff on duty. And did I mention, absolutely no common area staff cleaning visible. My son just moved to Newport Beach, so plan on visiting frequently, but will not be staying at this one. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No gym, no spa, no jacuzzi but a destination fee we did not get to use

We were charged a destination fee $25 but the spa was closed, gym was closed , pool hours reduced could not go for a an early swim before the crowd . Hotel is very beautiful, coffee shop nice. Gift shop is blank , no hats no bags nothing like other marriot gift shops it may contain 20 items gift shop. Reception was good but no concierge and reception very reluctant to book you anything . We needed get a boat . Covid stays are difficult , parking and valet was very good . We will come back after CoVid and hopefully we will have a better experience . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stayed there 6 night to attend a Tournament at the Tennis Center

It was a real nice hotel within walking distance to an upscale mall. I stayed during the COVID so the restaurant , gym and other amenities were either closed or had reduced hours. I found some real good restaurants across the street at the mall and had breakfast at Starbucks each morning. Staff was very friendly and answered any questions I had. Was also an easy walk to the Tennis center. I hope to come back next year TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Tired. Bland. Out of the way. That’s the first things that come to mind after a first and only night here. The room was may have been a portal to a 90s highway hotel. It actually might have been hard work extracting the soul out of every object placed in the room. No bedside table on my side of the bed, phone on floor. A cheap shower curtain leaps at you in the shower with an un-adjustable head. A view over hundreds of feet of dirty air conditioning vents. No refreshments in the room. Very little visible effort to make the hotel Covid safe, relative to other recent hotel visits. This surprised me for a global chain like Marriot. Nothing to suggest special cleaning protocols and guests in the hallways were unmasked. Highlights? Adjacent to the shops I suppose. But why go to Newport Beach to be as far away from the Beach as possible? With so much choice, make this your last. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

4th of July weekend stay

This is a lovely Marriott in a great location. We were very hesitant to even travel, much less stay at a hotel during this covid-19 pandemic. We called and spoke directly with Marriott before booking to ask specific questions regarding sanitation practices in the common areas and the rooms particularly. We were assured that all guests would have their temperatures taken before entering the hotel. That did not happen. We were told that wearing masks were mandatory inside the hotel and that it would be enforced. All staff were wearing masks. About 30% of the hotel guests were NOT. When we complained at the front desk, we were told that they try to enforce the masks, but cannot make people comply. This is not what we were told before checking in and is not acceptable! People's lives were being put at risk while paying to stay at this hotel. The management CAN and SHOULD enforce policies on their premises. We did our part and expected others to do theirs, especially the company we were paying to rent two rooms from. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
