very relaxing

Oct 22nd, 2019

We went on the Riviera Timeless Provence tour this August and stayed at Novotel Beaumanoir, a half hour coach journey from Marseille airport. The hotel, although a little tired, was clean and comfortable. Our room overlooked the motorway but was still incredibly quiet. All members of staff were very helpful and pleasant. A small negative point was that the hotel bar was not always manned , but a word to reception in the same location always remedied this. The small swimming pool was excellent. Breakfast, on separate tables, in the dining room or on the terrace was very good with an extensive choice of hot and cold food. We had two group dinners in the hotel as part of the holiday and both were very good. Although the hotel was outside Aix, it was quick and easy getting into town using the bus No.8 (€2.40 return – about every 12 minutes). The group was split between two hotels. There were two other group dinners combining both hotels at restaurants just outside Aix. Both these meals were very good especially the one at Lacroix restaurant. The food was excellent and the relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in the gardens added to the enjoyment. The tours were well organised and allowed enough time to explore new places. The two boat trips were particularly relaxing. We found that this holiday trip was not as hectic as other tours and we always arrived back at our hotel with plenty of time to relax before dinner. Our tour guide Lorna was extremely pleasant and helpful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

hotel so-so

Aug 27th, 2019

we received a room on the second floor, but after finding the elevator it turned out to be closed, upon returning to the reception we received information that this is the only elevator and it is closed - this information should be provided at check-in, especially since we had a lot of luggage with us, in finally, on a clear request, we managed to find a room on the ground floor for us, another unpleasant thing is the need to ask for a vaucher for a welcome drink, which we should receive as members of the loyalty program, the quality of the room's decor and its equipment indicates that the hotel has already had its great years of splendor, no safe, limited amount of cosmetics, uncomfortable (too soft) bed TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel, lovely location, great staff

Jul 23rd, 2019

We stayed for 7 nights and were very happy with the whole experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, comfortable and well maintained, had air-con and s small fridge. We asked fro a quiet room away from the pool side and got exactly what we asked for. The inclusive breakfast was really good and set us up well for the day. The hotel is well appointed for access to both the old town (a 5 minute drive) and motorways and is in a quiet cul-de-dac surrounded by trees. We would definitely stay there again. The only tiny negative for me was that decaf coffee wasn't readily available. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Never Again

As French hotels are in general poor we use Accor hotels when traveling through France as at least you know what you are going to get. This hotel is the exception and is truly worthy of one star. The hotel corridor carpets are stained and dirty and this is carried through to the rooms which are not the cleanest. The sound proofing is poor which as the hotel is adjacent to a Motorway is a consideration. The window double glazing had failed as the sealer had melted and run into the window cavity. Owing to the situation it is not possible to leave the window open this became worse as during the night we discovered the air conditioning was not working. If you do decide to stay at this hotel insist on a ODD numbered room as these are the other side of the Hotel. As we arrived late we had Dinner at the hotel, my wife is Vegetarian and ordered a plain omelette. When it arrived it contained Ham, staff insisted she had ordered a "Full Omelette" they were informed this was not the case and a Plain omelette was prepared when this arrived it was raw inside and uneatable. At Breakfast the next morning it was obvious that " Coach Trip " had arrived before us and, there was little left. We asked staff to replenish certain items but they were reluctant to do this. After 9am I approached Reception and asked to speak to the Manager who I was informed had not arrived yet. I requested they phoned his/her mobile but there was no response. I detailed my complaints and was assured that the Manager would contact me later that day by phone or email needless to say two weeks later I have heard nothing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

An Experience not to forget

Jun 9th, 2019

I often travel through France and knowing the General Poor Quality of French Hotels I would normally spend the one night required at a Ibis Hotel as although basic you know what you get. I have never awarded one star but I feel this hotel warrants it. The hotel corridor carpets are badly stained and this continues into the rooms which for cleanliness leave a lot to be desired. The room we were allocated overlooked the adjoining motorway and due to the poor insulation makes for a disturbed nights sleep. The double glazing is of such poor quality that the sealant had melted and run down inside the sealed unit making the noise insulation ineffective. Because of this it is impossible to leave the window open, the heat problem became worse when we found during the night that the air conditioning did not work. IF anybody does consider staying at this hotel they INSIST ON A ODD NUMBERED ROOM. As we arrived late we had Dinner at the hotel and, as my wife is Vegetarian she ordered a plain omelette. When it came it contained ham we pointed this out to the staff who told us that she had ordered a full omelette. They were informed that this was never the case and they then agreed to cook another, when this arrived it was raw inside and uneatable. The next morning at Breakfast it was obvious that Coach Trip had been there before us as there was very little left. We had to repeatedly ask staff to replenish items which, they appeared reluctant to do so. After 9am I approached Reception and asked to speak to the Manager I was informed that he had not yet arrived. I insisted on their ringing his/her mobile to which no response was received. After explaining my complaint I was assured that the Manager would either phone or e-mail me later that day needless to say I have heard nothing and, now that I am back at home I will be voicing my complaints to Novotel Head Office TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
