Never Again

Jun 9th, 2019

As French hotels are in general poor we use Accor hotels when traveling through France as at least you know what you are going to get. This hotel is the exception and is truly worthy of one star. The hotel corridor carpets are stained and dirty and this is carried through to the rooms which are not the cleanest. The sound proofing is poor which as the hotel is adjacent to a Motorway is a consideration. The window double glazing had failed as the sealer had melted and run into the window cavity. Owing to the situation it is not possible to leave the window open this became worse as during the night we discovered the air conditioning was not working. If you do decide to stay at this hotel insist on a ODD numbered room as these are the other side of the Hotel. As we arrived late we had Dinner at the hotel, my wife is Vegetarian and ordered a plain omelette. When it arrived it contained Ham, staff insisted she had ordered a "Full Omelette" they were informed this was not the case and a Plain omelette was prepared when this arrived it was raw inside and uneatable. At Breakfast the next morning it was obvious that " Coach Trip " had arrived before us and, there was little left. We asked staff to replenish certain items but they were reluctant to do this. After 9am I approached Reception and asked to speak to the Manager who I was informed had not arrived yet. I requested they phoned his/her mobile but there was no response. I detailed my complaints and was assured that the Manager would contact me later that day by phone or email needless to say two weeks later I have heard nothing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

An Experience not to forget

Jun 9th, 2019

I often travel through France and knowing the General Poor Quality of French Hotels I would normally spend the one night required at a Ibis Hotel as although basic you know what you get. I have never awarded one star but I feel this hotel warrants it. The hotel corridor carpets are badly stained and this continues into the rooms which for cleanliness leave a lot to be desired. The room we were allocated overlooked the adjoining motorway and due to the poor insulation makes for a disturbed nights sleep. The double glazing is of such poor quality that the sealant had melted and run down inside the sealed unit making the noise insulation ineffective. Because of this it is impossible to leave the window open, the heat problem became worse when we found during the night that the air conditioning did not work. IF anybody does consider staying at this hotel they INSIST ON A ODD NUMBERED ROOM. As we arrived late we had Dinner at the hotel and, as my wife is Vegetarian she ordered a plain omelette. When it came it contained ham we pointed this out to the staff who told us that she had ordered a full omelette. They were informed that this was never the case and they then agreed to cook another, when this arrived it was raw inside and uneatable. The next morning at Breakfast it was obvious that Coach Trip had been there before us as there was very little left. We had to repeatedly ask staff to replenish items which, they appeared reluctant to do so. After 9am I approached Reception and asked to speak to the Manager I was informed that he had not yet arrived. I insisted on their ringing his/her mobile to which no response was received. After explaining my complaint I was assured that the Manager would either phone or e-mail me later that day needless to say I have heard nothing and, now that I am back at home I will be voicing my complaints to Novotel Head Office TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

An Average Hotel

May 29th, 2019

We stayed here as part of a Riviera tour in early May. On the whole I'd say this is an average hotel, in need of a bit of TLC but with some good points. On the plus side, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the food we had in the restaurant was above average for this type of hotel and the room we had was clean with a free safe and the WiFi was also free and worked well. If you were staying here overnight for business, it would be perfectly fine. On the negative side, the hotel is definitely in need of a make over and is looking a bit tired and shabby in places. The carpet in our room was quite stained and in need of replacing, the bed was very hard, and the style and design was a bit old fashioned. Breakfasts were OK in terms of quality but choice was a bit limited and repetitive and evening meals and drinks were a bit on the pricey side although as already mentioned the quality was fine. There is only one lift to the higher floors and it's very small and slow so if you have mobility issues and can't use stairs, you maybe need to ask for a room on the ground floor. We did find that the hotel was a bit too far for us to walk into the centre of Aix and we would have needed to take a short bus ride there and back to get an evening meal in town if we didn't want to eat in the hotel which after a day sightseeing, we didn't really want to do. So its a little bit out of the way if you're staying for a week like we did on the Riviera tour. This isn't the hotel's fault but I'd recommend booking a hotel in the centre of Aix if you're going on the Riviera tour. We tried to but there were no spaces available by the time we booked on so I assume Riviera only book a certain amount of rooms in each hotel they use. All in all, it's an OK hotel but with a bit of upgrading to the interior, it could be a much nicer place to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sadly disappointing

May 25th, 2019

The hotel is great for business meetings as it is close to the motorway, A8, you can see the motorway signs from the swimming pool, probably under 50 metres away, and hear the vehicle noise. We never heard the motorway from our room though. The hotel looks tired and needs updating. The rooms have very little storage our room didn’t even have a drawer. The receptionist was very helpful and supplied us with more hangers. Drinks and food were fairly expensive with limited choice. Breakfast, very repetitive, same every day. The cooked food unfortunately, was always cold. The safe and WiFi is free so a positive. The staff were always very friendly and worked very hard and were a credit to the hotel We were in a Riviera group and although there is a local bus service into town it was a pain and to walk was ok but not after a day of touring. Some of our group wished they had chosen the alternative hotel which was located in the town. Definitely, chose a town hotel even if a bit more expensive. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Tired but ok

Jul 14th, 2018

We stayed whilst on a tour with Rivera Travel ( the cost of the tour was considerably cheaper staying here ) The hotel could do with an upgrade carpets tired bathrooms quite old basicllay it’s dated . Plus points house keeping very good sheets were changed three times during our weeks stay , toiletries were replaced each day . Beds were comfortable we had extra pillows ( often it’s just one each ) plenty of hot water. Safe fridge and kettle in room don’t always get that in Europe. Reception were helpful our rooms were not ready when we arrived so we ordered and paid for drinks it was about half an hour before we got the keys but we were given our money back for the drinks . Breakfast was good plenty of choice and excellent fruit salad each day . We had two meals at the hotel and both were good which was a pleasant surprise after reading some reviews.Service was a little chaotic think the bar staff did need some training although all were pleasant just felt they needed a leader. The pool area was quite pleasant although there was some noise from the road there was some nice greenery and shaded areas to sit in . The hotel is out of the centre but there is a very good bus service which was not a problem using . I would sum this hotel up by saying it does its job and was a far cheaper option so we were happy with what we got . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
