Ideal City Break Base

Sep 19th, 2020

Recently returned from 4 days in Athens as a break from the UK - the hotel provided a good base to go and visit the city. Check in was speedy and given room on 6th floor with fab view of the acropolis. The room was cosy, but very clean, the only flaw was that the air conditioning was very poor and left us very warm at night. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk through a rather rough neighbourhood from Omonia metro stop, I would not want to walk through the neighbourhood late at night if I was a lone traveller. The walk however was worth it for the rooftop view, the pool area is lovely. Granted with covid not many sunbeds but lots of seating and a lovely area to spend the afternoon/ evening. I would definitely recommend this hotel, if you’re looking for a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable break. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Could of been better

Sep 15th, 2020

Nice enough hotel, but surrounding area not the best. Check in very efficient, given room on 4th floor. Usual Novotel room. Bathroom clean. Bed needs new mattress as were rolling to middle of bed. Rooftop pool area with view of Acropolis fantastic, great friendly barman. Needs more sun beds up there, because 5 nowhere near enough. Worst bit of hotel was the breakfast. For €12 this was a farce. Choice shocking. Basically a hard boiled egg, I know we are in challenging times, but having also stayed in a Novotel in the middle of Frankfurt in July, you still got a decent breakfast which was extremely covid friendly. Also the staff at breakfast were plain ignorant. It was as though we were an inconvenience to them us being there. Rest of the staff in the hotel were extremely friendly. Definitely recommend a taxi to anyone staying here at night, first night we walked out and felt nervous walking out. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hotel in wrong location

Sep 15th, 2020

i recently stayed at the Novotel beginning of September with my family. The hotel is nice, the staff were welcoming and kind, however the location wasn't good, it is a rough area, surrounded by pick-pockters, best to not walk to Omonia station which is a 10minute walk from the hotel at night. Best to order a taxi from the hotel, as they will book a taxi for you. The room is nice, however the fridge wasn't working, best to check it's plugged in first, and views from the hotel room is not so great, as it's looking at other people's homes, so don't expect a good view until you visit the roof, where the pool is located. Wasn't enough sun loungers to use, which i understand for health and safety reasons. Prices of buying food and water wasn't cheap at the hotel. Unfortunately i won't be staying at Novotel anymore in Athens, probably best to stay closer to the town square, myself, mum and sister didn't feel comfortable or safe. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good place to stay

Sep 1st, 2020

We stayed three nights at the Novotel. The location is ok, not the best area, but safe. Just a 10 minute walk to the metro. The pool (and view) was great and not too crowded (due to Corona). Maybe more like a 3-star hotel than 4, but we had a nice stay in a clean room and very friendly staff. We'll be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent staying

Jul 22nd, 2020

I would start with the staff, which is so hardworking, friendly and polite. Due to the issues created by Covid 19 we had to cancel and book again our staying at Novotel, and the support and patience we got from the staff was excellent. We arrived by train from Thessaloniki, and being just 9 minutes walk from the train station to the hotel we decided to walk, it is conveniently situated, so the taxi ride to the city centre won't be more than 7e and to the Acropolis maybe 10e. Again due to Covid 19 I won't recommend breakfast as you'll get just coffee, croissants, yogurt and boiled eggs, so in my opinion 12e per person is a bit much. The room is great, nice and spacious with deep foam mattresse very comfortable. We enjoyed some drinks at the pool bar where we got nice view on daytime and night time as well. We chose 2nd time Novotel, 1st one was in Bucharest, and we weren't disappointed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
