Really nice and newly renovated suite

Aug 28th, 2020

The suite is really nice We stayed for 1 night in the suite. This was actually a really nice suite. Lots of space, and with a huge bathroom. Easy access to the other side of the river and very near the museum and confluence area. I would probably not stay there for a week vacation, but for a night on the way to the south it was perfect. We had the breakfast – due to Covid it is a bit confusing and with very few options, but this is to be expected at the moment. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Could be better but stayed in worse

Aug 24th, 2020

We stayed here for 3 nights over a weekend in August. We had a room on the 7th floor which was ok, basic but functional, seemed clean although a bit dated. Had a fridge and a kettle, our daughter’s sofa bed was a bit dodgy, very squeaky and I thought it was going to fold up on her at one point with her in it! The hotel is by the river in the Debourg area of the city, near to the Tony Garnier tram stop. We bought a tram/bus/metro 72 hour card to get round, this cost about £15 each. The old town is about 2 miles away. Nice walks by the river from the hotel and places to have a picnic. There are a few decent bars and restaurants towards Debourg 10 mins walk away. We arrived into Lyon by train at Gare Part Dieu. The hotel is 3 miles from here, and although it is possible to walk (it’s mostly flat), it takes an hour and it’s not much fun towing a case that distance in 35 degree heat, as we discovered, so it’s a much better option to hop on Tram 1 that picks up right by the station and drops off just by the hotel. We arrived on Friday afternoon and the hotel was very busy, queue to check in, queue for a lift, pool was manic and full of small children. Saturday was the same, but by Sunday afternoon it was quiet and not busy at all. On Monday morning we had the pool almost to ourselves. The pool is actually much smaller than it looks in the picture, too small to really swim properly, and is 2m deep on the far side, which was fine for our daughter as she is a very competent swimmer, but parents should be aware that it is deep for a small pool. It is open from 9am - 12 noon and then from 3pm til about 7 I think, they had a life guard on in the afternoon. We didn’t eat in the hotel or have breakfast so can’t comment on that and we didn’t use the parking. WiFi was ok. I would say this hotel is fine in the week but seemed a bit over whelmed at the weekend. We enjoyed our stay in Lyon, it’s a lovely city. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Outdated, old & dirty

Aug 23rd, 2020

Well...We’ve been in Novotel hotels in some other cities and this made us come here expecting some kind of standard. This isn’t the case at all. First of all the area isn’t nice at all. Very dirty surroundings. Hotel itself is quite old. All these dirty and smelly carpets everywhere 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ gosh...most funny is to find this letter of “new very strict protocol” in relation with COVID-19 😁😁😁 guys, I’m sure coronavirus would be eaten dead by all other viruses and bacteria in here. Hair sticked everywhere, stains on furniture, table. But we have a nice letter to keep distance and wash hands... We just booked an overnight stay but I’m not even motivated to use the shower because I just don’t want to step in there 🤢 Accor, come on! What a shame! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not really up to the Novotel expectations

Jul 28th, 2020

This was not we looked forward to. Actually this property did not even met the standards we have seen at Ibis Budget properties. The size of this place might have something to do with it, but we have waited in line for everything; getting in the parking (which was full),getting out of the garage to park somewhere else, checkin,... But the lines at breakfast were the worst. A second outlet would do the trick even in the Covid-period we are living in. We did not even go for a second cup of coffee or piece of banquette because of the 10min wait. However, the location of the hotel is great..just of the autoroute and with a shopping centre a 15min walk away you can find a good meal before turning in. We had a triple room but underneath the fold up were the souvenirs the previous guests left (chewing gum and wrappers) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrible dinner food

Jul 19th, 2020

The hotel room was okay. The food in restaurant at dinner was disgusting. I was served Cesar salad that was rotten. When i complained to the waitress she just said oh, ok. No apology, no offer of a substitute -nothing! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
