Being in the heart of the city can come with noise
Part of the AccorHotels group, the Novotel New York Times Square is situated in the heart of bustling New York City. Each room (there are no suites at this property) features a 46-inch LCD TV, a sofa bed, free Wi-Fi access and a minifridge. And if you want your pet to join you in your quarters, Novotel welcomes one small animal (dogs and cats that weigh up to 50 pounds) per room at no extra cost. One big draw, according to guests, is the view of midtown Manhattan and Times Square visible from some of the rooms. But why focus on the looks of it when you can take in the real thing? With its locale on West 52nd Street at Broadway, this Novotel outpost may be every first-time New Yorker's dream (although the incessant lights and monstrous crowds may drive more experienced city slickers crazy). Take in the eclectic New York scene with a visit to Supernova, the on-site restaurant and bar is set in a swanky corner of the hotel, which dishes out cuisine inspired by food truck culture from around the country. Plus, members of Le Club AccorHotels can pay for rooms with accrued points.

There are cheaper upscale hotels in the city, but guests here pay more for the premium location.

The decent-size rooms are something of an afterthought, with a bland décor of grey, beige, and pastels. Soundproof windows keep out the bustle of Broadway, and bathrooms feature large countertops and hardwood floors.

The space age Supernova restaurant and bar fits in with the rest of the hotel’s decor. The restaurant serves bite-sized finger foods for sharing and dishes that are based on American comfort classics. Being a French hotel, expect some European twists to appease their international guests (duck and chicken liver parfait, for example). The restaurant also features a doughnuttery under its dessert section: Priced in servings of six or a dozen rings, you can customized your own doughnuts.
