Wonderful stay and property!

Jan 10th, 2020

We loved our stay here. We didn't spend much time in the room (Ave Parasio), but it had everything we needed, including plenty of clean drinking water. The property was beautiful- lots of palm trees, sand, free parking. The beach front was amazing with swinging beds and lounging chairs. Great location and access to the local restaurants! You can walk everywhere along both the beachfront and the shopping road. I'd definitely stay here again! The staff is very friendly as well. The only downside is there is no beach service to order cocktails. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our 2nd visit to NVR and cannot wait to come back again

Jan 6th, 2020

We stayed at Nueva Vida de Ramiro for 5 nights in one of the rooms right on the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful when we checked in. Our room wasn't ready but they let us store our bags and gave us towels to enjoy the beach while waiting. The beach was amazing this year with hardly any seaweed at all. NVR was as beautiful as I remembered and now has a small pool as well. Our room was fantastic - the view from our 2nd floor balcony was stunning. Some reviewers have mentioned the loud music and it was true, there was music the first couple of nights but it was in the lead up to NYE and to be honest, didn't bother us. We left the windows open to hear the sound of the ocean and that was enough to ensure a great nights sleep. After NYE it was definitely quieter. Our room wasn't that close to reception but the wifi signal was enough to get texts and emails. We didn't have A/C but the ceiling fan and breeze from the ocean were more than enough. Breakfast is offered at a restaurant across the street (La Venia) and each day was coffee, fruit and eggs (scrambled or fried) and sometimes toast or tortillas. The scrambled eggs were fantastic. They also come around on the beach during the day and you can order drinks and food from them as well. We spent each day relaxing on the beach, swinging in the beds and really unwinding. One night we walked back from having drinks at a nearby place and it's obvious when you get to NVR because suddenly the beach area is dark - there is no bar or restaurant or beach club. It's like a quiet oasis. As I said, our room was on the beach so we didn't hear the noise from the street, but as Tulum continues to get more busy I don't know how this can be avoided anyway. We love it here and look forward to returning again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

If you want to relax and sleep during the night look elsewhere

Jan 5th, 2020

The hotel room was basic and clean - exactly what we needed. The grounds and beach are beautiful. The staff are helpful and friendly, however a neighboring establishment plays VERY loud music most nights until 3 am. Our 3rd night here it was played until after 5am. With all the talk about preserving the environment around here I can’t believe what has happened since the last time we visited 7 years ago. The noise and traffic pollution is out of control. Even with hotels and restaurants doing their best to be green and sustainable the noise from music and traffic will have a very negative effect on the wild life and everything else that lives in this environment. Sadly if I do return to Tulum I will look for a place that is very far from all of the “noise”. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our 4th time at NVR but unfortunately not the best

Dec 16th, 2019

This was the fourth time my partner and I stayed at NVR. We’ve always loved it for the calm and tranquil environment it offers. The staff are very friendly, the beach area very nice and relaxing, and the Pájaro Azul villa is great. The main reason I’m giving 3 stars is because of the noise pollution due to bars and restaurants nearby playing extremely loud music. On our first night, loud thumping techno played until nearly 5am. On the other nights it wasn’t as bad, but still had to deal with loud music until about midnight. We don’t go to Tulum to party; we go to relax and recharge. Unfortunately that is very difficult to do with such loud music playing so late at night. Hopefully NVR and other nearby hotels will be able to convince the bars to lower their music. Death at the property

Dec 15th, 2019

We stayed here with a few friends in several cabins because our friends were getting married at Mahayana next door. One of our friends fell to his death from a second floor cabin around 4 am. It was an accident, but the hotel didn’t find him until 10:30 am and no one notified us, his friends, until 9:00 pm that day. During the day we noticed our friend never communicated with us and tried to get the hotel to tell us if he had checked out. They gave us different stories, at first saying yes he checked out, then saying they didn’t know but his room was empty, then saying again he checked out. Around 9 pm the hotel manager finally got us in touch with the authorities to tell us our friend had passed away. Whatever charm this hotel had could never make up for the fact that they were so incompetent they did not find a dead body on the property until 6 hours after the fact. Accidents happen but the incredibly slow response makes me fear my life in case any accident or medical emergency happens. Don’t stay here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
