Business Stay

Mar 13th, 2020

Booked by my employer in downtown Oakland. Not a great surrounding area but hotel rooms very good. Close to Jack London Square. Room service fast and very good. Beds comfortable with nice linen. Some rooms with bathtubs and some with just showers. Lobby furniture looking a bit worn. Overall, a nice stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Reasonable rates and great views

Feb 26th, 2020

Stayed here 3 nights while attending a conference. Room was clean and a good size with fridge, safe, and coffee maker. My room did not have a view, but I caught an amazing sunset one night by going to the 21st floor and looking out the window by the elevators. I parked in the parking garage connected to the Convention Center. Paying at the parking garage is cheaper than paying through the hotel. I paid $88 for 3 nights. BART to SFO takes about 40 minutes and costs $10. BART to SF costs about $8-10 round trip and takes about 25 minutes. BART station is right across street. Uber to SF costs about $30. Uber to Berkeley costs about $15. Lots of restaurants nearby. Went to Blue Bottle coffee and Shiba Ramen, both good. Walked to Jack London Square, Oakland Museum of CA, and Lake Merritt. Also went to nearby Lucky Foot Spa in Chinatown and had a great massage. Walgreens nearby as well. Try Trappist for a beer. Many homeless people in the city, so bring some bags of toiletries/snacks to hand out. Very nice stay and would return if visiting Oakland again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Central, Updated Hotel

Feb 23rd, 2020

Stayed here for a national conference. The hotel did a good job accommodating the large group. Food was good quality. Rooms are updated and cleaned appropriately. City center location next to Convention Center and across from a BART station make for a very convenient location. There was a snafu and my room wasn't cleaned upon check in. They remedied this immediately and provided a deep discount on the rate. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Business Conference

Feb 20th, 2020

Front Desk customer Service at check in was great(informed me sbout restaurants close by)even though gorgot most of it by the time got in room & settled. Very clean hotel exterior & interior. Vending machines should've been filled on floors especially knowing you got conference participants coming (got in on Tues, conference start Wednesday afternoon, vending machine on 7th fl never was refilled.) My biggest disappointment is only 1 restaurant choice within hotel & the prices were outrageously high. At least add more variety...The Marriott in Washington DC (Waterman Park) much better food wise(choices) but same high price TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pricey but still worth it!

Feb 18th, 2020

I stayed at this hotel about a month ago during a special event (not sure what it was) and the room rates were very high, but I needed a place to stay (my original hotel accommodations did not pan out) at the last-minute. Initially I was told they didn't have any rooms available, but after having the front desk person discuss my situation with the night manager, they were able to let me have a room, not normally available. It was pretty nice w/ a King size bed, large LCD TV, in-room fridge, coffeemaker, and although the room itself was an awkward size (it was in an angled corner), there was plenty of room to move around...there was even a nice chaise/lounge sofa in the room too to relax in. Parking was not free, but the difference between self-park vs valet was only $10 diff, so I had them valet my vehicle in lieu of me having to find a parking spot every night. Valet service was prompt as well...I can call ahead from my room to have them bring my car up and by the time I get to the front, my car is almost always already there for me. I was also able to transfer my room charges from my personal card to my company card since I didn't have my company card available to me for the initial charge...I did have to wait about a week or so before the charges were reversed, but I was impressed with how easy the process was. I did notice one odd thing though, in the room I was in. Whenever it got really windy outside, there were all sorts of weird creaking sounds the room made, but other than that, I think I would still stay at this hotel again if I'm in the area.
