A charming weekend getaway.

Jul 17th, 2019

We were happy to see the front entrance and garden were very well kept in the cosy size property. However, the 2 receptionists were not in any way to express they were happy to see us or any guests at all. Our room was small with a small balcony that overlooked the back end of their other building. Housekeeping can be improved as we found towels and basic toiletries were lack of. It’s an overnight stay & I’m not a light traveller so we didn’t called for anything than what’s in the bathroom. Unfortunately the shower were weak. That we couldn’t called for anything. Dinner was great, our server (with a French accent) was very personable and professional. She made the dinner very enjoyable. The turn down service with a long stemmed rose was a pleasant surprise. We were happy with the standard buffet breakfast. A server broke a large glass in a confined dinning area were a bit shocking the 1st thing in the morning. Our private wine tour was our highlight of the package ; we were received by a gentleman with a diesel old English taxi. The chauffeur asked and got our preference on the 3 wineries for us. The exclusiveness made that wine tour memorable. Our package with dinner, private wine tour, a spa service & 1 night of hotel were $800. Consider it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely Hotel

Jul 10th, 2019

The Oban Inn is a lovely property in NOTL offering a variety of room classes across from the golf course and walking distance to the Shaw theatre, shopping, and restaurants. This is a great option if you enjoy a smaller venue with updated, yet traditional decor. There is a main building and a separate Oban house. This is an older property, so you'll hear creaking floorboards and the comings and goings of other guests --- part of the charm. See separate review of the Spa. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Chef Jesse

Jul 7th, 2019

The food here is a must try. If you're looking for a nice romantic meal or just craving something absolutely delicious go to the Oban. I had their duck confit when I was there and was blown away. The menu always has something new and exciting to try out. The young executive Chef Jesse has such talent always coming up with amazing dishes. My friends and family have not been disapointed once. Will be back soon. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Oban Inn Spa

Jun 30th, 2019

My first time at the Oban Inn Spa. When we arrived for our pedicures the receptionist did not even smile. Told me that I did not have a reservation. I showed her my confirmation on my email. She proceeded to show us the the waiting room. I had to ask for a locker... then when I went to the locker there was no robe or sandals/flip flops... I had to go back and ask for that as well.. her answer was "Oh.. you want a robe". Frankly, I've been to the Pillar and Post countless times for a pedicure and reception cannot do enough for you. Always welcoming and helpful. I was really taken back at how rude and incompetent this person was. The Oban Inn should know how important first impressions are... I would say both the ladies that did our pedicures were awesome and did a great job. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant staff were amazing. Food was great. I would go back for sure... I just hope that management reads this and revises who works the main reception at the Spa. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dinner at the Oban Restaurant - not what was expected

Jun 2nd, 2019

We had friends visiting from Delaware and they wanted to go to a nice restaurant for dinner. I sent them a number of websites of restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake and they decided on the Oban Inn. It was not a good experience. The service was painfully slow and dinner took 2.5 hours and that was without dessert. We are not wine connoisseurs but we do know that white and red wines are not served in the same type of glass so we were very surprised that the wine (2 reds and 2 whites) were served at the table and in the smallish glasses provided. They couldn't pour at the bar? The food was not what we had expected It was beautifully plated and the presentation was good but my chicken was lukewarm and I was unsure of what was served with it; my husband was unhappy to find that his lamb consisted of just a few pieces and was not as advertised as 'a rack of lamb'; our friends were not happy with the doneness of their steak. To top it off, one of the two ladies toilets was broken. I could not flush and told an employee as soon as I came out of the Ladies Room; when I had to use the facilities a second time, I could still not flush. This was not what we had expected from a restaurant with the reputation of the Oban. It appears that they are coasting on their reputation. We will not be going back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
