Terrible customer service

Nov 10th, 2019

If you are looking for a high end experience to match the view — do not come here! It was the most awful service I have ever experienced. I am sure they will respond to this with some awful standard reply... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor Management & Lousy Food

Nov 9th, 2019

We’ve been coming here since 2013 but management has declined - they’re just not well trained and don’t have a customer service mindset (and these rooms are expensive). To the point where we skipped coming last year but gave it a try again this year, and don’t think we’ll return. This year, we asked for a quiet room and made a point to tell them when we checked in that we were sleeping late as were really tired from several grueling work weeks. The next morning (Saturday), we were woken up at 7:30am by loud voices and slamming doors. As it turned out, there was a wedding , and they put us in the room adjacent to the wedding party!!! Which genius did not manage the wedding rooms properly, I don’t know. We complained over the phone twice, mentioned concerns for the next morning and asked for a solution. Management asked the wedding party to keep it down and didn’t inform us of anything. We had to go down and press for a room change and management refused by saying they were already quiet. So, management didn’t inform us of anything, we were woken up, and they also ruined the wedding party fun. Just poor management practices all around. We felt bad for the wedding party too - they should have blocked the rooms next to them. Finally, they “conceded” to move us rooms to a “different” category (we travel with virtuoso so this was no favor). But the whole ordeal took us over an hour and lots of hassling and a ruined morning with no rest. Their management sucks. It’s been bad for a few years. They need to be sent to the Ritz or Disney for training. Plus, the food at the restaurant has been going downhill - not as tasty and some items not even cooked through. When we sent a dish back (potatoes not cooked), they didn’t even take it off the bill. Beautiful property, beautiful rooms but know it’s about them, not you - the customer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect Day Trip

Oct 28th, 2019

We love the Ocean House and have stayed multiple times but it is also a wonderful day trip. On a beautiful summer day the Ocean House was our destination for lunch on the Verandah. After valet parking the car we were seated on the beautiful porch with sweeping views of the ocean and gorgeous grounds. Service was excellent as usual. In this lovely location we enjoyed a delicious leisurely lunch of oysters, shrimp and lobster rolls! After lunch we enjoyed a walk on the beach and a cocktail at the beach bar. Best time ever! Dinner and drinks

Oct 27th, 2019

Just a beautiful place and highly recommend stopping in for a visit. So on Thursday 10/24/19 my wife and I stopped in for a drink and apppitizer. It was such a beautiful day the the views here are outstanding. We sat at the bar and were served by a gray haired lady (unfortunately didn't get her name) that was the most unfriendly person and almost could say rude of any bartender we ever came across. Hopefully she sees this and changes her attitude! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

An incredible Gilded Age experience not to be missed. Having to leave? Sad!

Oct 26th, 2019

Our favorite place ever, refinement, class, manners - almost forgotten arts. This beautiful rebuild of a classic is truly a gift to us all. If you cannot stay (and it is very pricey), please stop for lunch, dinner, or a drink. The view is spectacular, and you can even admire their croquet fields. Again, a true treasure. Thank you so much to its owners. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
