Sunday Brunch

Sep 16th, 2019

This review is about the Sunday Brunch ay Ocean House. Our reservations were for 11:30 am and we were seated after 12 noon. The brunch was mediocre at best. I do not mind spending money on a meal but this was not worth it. The offerings were not impressive at all. Shrimp , oysters and clams on the half shell were about the best. It did not contain some of the offerings advertised on their website. Not sure where our waitress was as we had to wait 30 minutes for water, coffee etc. There is only valet parking which is complimentary, but I use a cane and my car was parked in the street down stairs . The valet stated there were too many autos to pull mine up to the Veranda. Well perhaps it could have been driven up after some of the cars departed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Out for Breakfast

Sep 15th, 2019

Friday morning and our choice was to go to Ocean House for breakfast. With ideal weather, we chose the lower level outside at the “Seaside Terrace” overlooking the ocean views rather than the upstairs inside porch. Overall with the six of us we had an assortment of menu items but will focus on my choice - from the menu selection under “Warm & Sustaining,” I ordered the: “Two Eggs Your Way, Fresh Fruit, Choice of Toast” for $14 Plus from “Sinful Additions To Any Dish,” I added Potato Hash for $6. Well, as I ordered 2 poached eggs, they came more like 2 hard boiled eggs in a bowl. Not good. And Make a note to self, IF you wanted butter for your toast, order that also in advance. The Potato Hash, however, was absolutely fantastic. That’s a must. With their rating, somehow I would have expected an English bone China cup to present my poached eggs (see photo of that cup that serves poached eggs.) And now where is the COFFEE? Husband left and got a cup in the lobby and returned but still no server for coffee for me. Had to go to the window to get check and pay. Coffee and check never found its way to our table. It was not a busy day, or early , maybe 3 other tables being served. Note that this location is close to the Spa and a kiddie pool/ fountains attracts children, so Note to parents of toddlers, have them wear their bathing suit to breakfast. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Old time elegance

Sep 7th, 2019

We could imagine we were in another era, the setting was so elegant. We were welcomed and seated on the veranda and sank into the comfortable chairs to feel the sun on our backs and a breeze on our face. The lobster rolls were big and stuffed full. We were able to talk and visit and just relax in this lovely setting. Valet parking made this very easy too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don't ever eat on the terrace there

Sep 3rd, 2019

We just returned from eating on the terrace of ocean house and had the worst meal ever. The crab dip was inedible and the lobster roll was filled with mush - truly appalling and we paid a bill of $105 for two. Don''t eat there have a drink and enjoy the view which is beautiful! Seaside Terrace at the Ocean House

Sep 3rd, 2019

We made the drive to Westerly to experience the beautiful views and enjoy a lunch outside at the beautiful Ocean House. Unfortunately, we thought the experience was poor. First, the venue planted beautifu hydrangeas along the water side of the terrace. Unfortunately, this completely block the view that could have been enjoyed over the meal. Many people stood to enjoy it or take photos. We were served wine in plastic wine glasses. The food was average but the menu was less than appealing. For some reason the Seaside Terrace has a sub par menu versus the menu available on the verandah. Overall the experience doesn't make us want to return! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
