One of my new favorite places...a great escape from LA

Aug 17th, 2019

Living so close to LA, I don't know how we haven't been here before..but it was quite lovely. Rooms - they were adequate although I wished the rooms had two queen beds instead of two double beds. Our kids still like to jump in bed with us, and a double was super squished. The pillows were feather or non-feather, but I asked them if they had firm or foam pillows and the girls at the front said yes they did and would have them brought to our room, but they never were. I wish i had remembered to bring my pillow from home because i hate pillows that are too soft. When i called housekeeping, they said they only had feather or non-feather and the non-feather they brought were also super soft. I guess I was spoiled by the mandarin oriental's pillow menu. But the pillows were the main reason I didn't have a good night sleep. Rooms were otherwise well appointed and comfortable. Bottled water available for free all over the resort. Restaurants: The restauraunts (The Oak and Olivella) were great. Food was good, if not a bit pricey but I guess we were at a resort. Weekend breakfast buffet was reasonably priced at $35 though. For one night I had the squid ink pasta with shrimp, which was great! Diver's scallops at the Olivella were also fresh and tasty. Kids pasta at the Olivella were hand made and they enjoyed them. Close to the golf course Drinks: My husband thinks this place has the best old fashioned. He's been on a whiskey kick recently. I have to admit, it was very smooth. I was not a fan of the yamazaki he ordered but to each his own. Pixie Pool: We got the cabana but we honestly didn't need it as there were always shaded chairs to be had. Great servers - they were always around. Lots of chairs, hotel-provided little beach balls, lots of shade, towels and there were people walking around with little samples of frozen fruit. Kids had a blast. My only complaint is that it was quite out of the way - i guess this is good so the kid noise is kept away from the main area of the resort, but it was a hike to get to. Luckily, they have gold carts going everywhere all the time. Our room was in the main building by the lobby, so we never had a problem getting a golf cart ride anywhere. Kids club: If you are a guest at the resort, you only have to pay the service charge for the kids club, which i hear it's new. Essentially, I paid $4/hr/child. Such a pleasant surprise! The kids also loved the kids club (they're 5 and 7, both boys) - they didn't event tell me "bye" when I dropped them off. The girls working there were lovely. The outside area for the kids club was being re-done but they have a ton of activities and blocks, magnet tiles,a fish tank, legos, air hockey, etc to keep them busy! Loved! Plus it allowed the hubby and I to get massages and stop by the gym to work off all the great food we were eating. You can rent (free) adult bicycles to ride around the property, but I suggest you go early. We went after breakfast and dropping off the kids and there was a line. Lots of open spaces for the kids to run and roam. Weekends - they had live music in the evenings under the oak, which was very nice. There was space for the kids to run around. Overall, a lovely place for a weekend away. I would definitely come back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful spot for a girls weekend away

Aug 17th, 2019

It’s not cheap to stay here but it’s a gorgeous resort in a gorgeous location so worth it if you want a girls weekend away or couples weekend. We drank and ate well, took full advantage of the spa and hung out at the spa pool. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This resort is a wonderful place to get away and relax. The staff is super friendly. The amenities are first class. We really enjoyed being able to walk into town on the walking/bike path. Plenty of shops and restaurants. Also able to access hiking trails. Wonderful visit! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful

Aug 13th, 2019

On arrival there was a small mix up with our room; from that moment on they could not have done more to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The hotel and grounds are absolutely stunning and they do everything they can to make you feel special. We have stayed in many top hotels around the world and this is among the very best. Calm, serene, attention to detail, wonderful and friendly staff. Must mention Cari who went way beyond the call of duty to help us and make our stay perfect. Felt like the hotel was run by a high class family rather than a corporation who know how to run fine hotels and treat guests. Could not recommend this hotel more highly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely Oasis

Aug 12th, 2019

My favorite aspect of Ojai Valley Inn is the spiritual rejuvenation you feel after spending a few days here. I highly recommend spending ample time in the spa. I had a Himalayan Salt Rock Massage, a CBD Massage, and experienced the Kuyam. All were amazing. My son spent two days in the kids camp and LOVED it! The pools and restaurants were great and the property is just beautiful!! We will definitely be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
