Good location

Mar 21st, 2020

We only stayed one night as it was busy season. This is in an excellent location. We walked there from the ferry. There was a misunderstanding with dropping our bags off early. There was no one there even though I had talked to someone the night before. When we were finally able to check in, the gentleman was very friendly and welcoming. The Smallest Bar was unique and fun. As for the room, it was nice enough, but appeared only partially stocked. It seemed clean. The bathroom could have used a little TLC. In all fairness, we did book the cheapest room. Would we stay there again, YES, but I would probably ask about the other rooms. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Location is the only thing going for this place at present.

Good: Location. This could be "the place to stay" with a few changes. First off, it is the best of the best of locations for someone who wants to be in the middle of all of the action, with no young children along, and no complications in finding your way home on foot. There is no driving, cabbing, or shuttling if you are staying here and enjoying Duval and all it has to offer. You are in the middle of the everything and just need to step out your door to "be there." The rooms seem to be pretty clean. Bad: Small maintenance issues need to be addressed like bathroom doors that don't shut in a room for 6 and holes in closet doors. Room we booked did sleep six with two to a bed; however, the one "bed" was a mattress on the floor under one of the beds in the room. We knew this going in and were okay with our kids crashing on the floor on this mattress, but we wanted to make sure people who book this know this is not truly a bed. Ugly: The owner is an absolutely rude man. When we could not find our room because we thought it was behind the fence next to the "Smallest Bar,"(according to the website we found the room on), the owner reprimanded us and advised we did not know where we were staying while he walked us to our rooms in a totally pissed off fashion and showed his frustration towards us. He will probably reply with some rude comments, but please look at previous comments and see all his other replies to anyone who says anything less than stellar about him. I would say I would recommend this place to a group of party goers who just want a place to lay their heads after partying on Duval, have no issues with any customer service attitudes, and know they are only getting a decently clean, poorly maintained place to sleep in Key West. Anyone else, probably not. There are lots of places within a few blocks and lots of options for transportation. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Quaint and Great Location

Nov 26th, 2019

We stayed here to try to avoid the high prices of the other hotels on the island. The rooms were comfortable and surprisingly quiet for being right off of Duval St. The bed was good. We had no issue charging our electronic devices. And probably most importantly the AC worked really well. It was still quite warm when we were in Key West. The only issues we had were the water pressure was weak and it was near impossible to get any even warm water in the shower. But hey we were on vacation so we weren't about to have this ruin our trip. The check-in process was a breeze but I wish that they would not announce the key code at the time of check-in but instead have it on a piece of paper or laminated card. I'm not sure if the Inn has Wifi because we hardly spent any time in the room. Nor did we check how many TV channels they get but we did see a Comcast cable box so probably more than just local channels. There was a restaurant on the backside of the Smallest Bar but we never ate there however the place was mostly full in the evenings. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Suggest Caution - Read Everything

We booked a room at the Smallest Bar Inn using Airbnb. We emailed the host, agreed to the terms stated and paid half of the amount. We then received a second set of terms from the hotel which listed additional costs and different terms for cancellation. The email from the hotel said we had agreed to these terms, which we had not. We questioned the Airbnb host about the new terms and he replied that we weren't a good match and cancelled our reservation. We did receive a full refund from Airbnb but the experience seemed very odd. This interaction took place in October of 2019. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Love it! Great place!

Me and my brother stayed for three days. It’s not a five star hotel, but hey. You’re in Key West. This is a party. All you need is a bed when you finally get some sleep. You also need a shower. There you go! Smallest bar inn, right on Duval street. All you can ask for. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
