European Old World Inn Luxury in Western North Carolina

Jul 19th, 2019

I don't know that I could say more that hasn't been said, but this is was one of our favorite hotels ever visited. It is BEYOND romantic. From the beautiful flagstone/grass entry to the kir royale and frozen Dove bars offered at check-in, the overflowing hydrangeas, the smiles of everyone working, the antiques, the luxurious bedding and bathrobes, heated bathroom floors, four jet shower, Molton Brown toiletries, and Nespresso coffee in room....I could go on and on. The library lounge and hotel artwork are perfection. The grounds immaculate. The service fantastic. Location couldn't be better. It's our third visit to Highlands, but first time to stay in the gorgeous Falls cabins area of Old Edwards Inn. The only thing I ask is that we come again and stay longer. Worth the $$. Didn't get to try the spa bc they were booked but did try one off the main drag and was happy. May even bring the kids next time and get a bigger room. Or, maybe nah--and we'll just have quiet pool and fire time. MUST GO if you like European style inns but with American amenities. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Spa is pure luxury!

Jul 5th, 2019

This place is special from the moment you walk in, and they encourage you to come in well before any appointment just to relax and enjoy it. Lush waiting areas with beverages and wine if you want it. Quiet is enforced and very welcome. Comfortable seating areas, extremely friendly staff, well equipped dressing/shower areas and great view of the town if you feel like getting up and looking at it, which no one did when I was there, it’s just too relaxing to care. Pricy, but almost everything in Highlands is pricy. Highly recommend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Luxurious Inn & Spa in a Picturesque Town

Jul 4th, 2019

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Inn in one of the Falls Cottages -- I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of the property’s amenities. Rose petal turndown service (to recognize her birthday) was a unique treat, and the chocolate chip cookies were delicious. We did experience a full range of spa services which were wonderful. I especially appreciated the numerous options for relaxation areas -- all were sumptuous and serene. The singer guitarist at the Hummingbird Lounge on Friday night was excellent and it was nice to see that he had so many regulars in the audience. I'd like to give a special shout-out to Bruce at the Cottages Front Desk who contacted Housekeeping to locate the bracelet my daughter left behind, and ensured that it was safely packed with the goodies I bought at the spa to have shipped home. The staff is top-notch. A few opportunities for improvement: upon our arrival at the Historic Inn on Main Street, the bellman informed us that we were supposed to check-in at the Falls Cottages off of Spring Street. This meant we had to drag our suitcases up two blocks and across the gravel parking lot -- not pleasant. This being our first stay at the Inn, I suggest including a statement in your confirmation email that your check-in location is dependent on the room booking; or, the bellman could have transported our luggage for us since we did not have a car (and mentioned this at the time). And, while all of our food and drink experiences at the Inn were delicious, there probably could have been another choice or two for my lactose-intolerant (and vegan) daughter. Thanks to the chef who had specially prepared oatmeal the second morning of our stay. Beware, this Inn is very popular and full of wedding parties in June! Finally, if you don’t want the hassle of renting a car -- you can enjoy the gorgeous NC scenery while a passenger with Scott MacDuff, Highlands Ride Service. Thank you, Scott, for such an entertaining ride back to Asheville! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Anniversary celebration

Jul 3rd, 2019

After dropping our daughter at camp, we headed to the Highlands for a two night getaway at Old Edwards. We got the romantic getaway package that included spa treatment for both us along with a 3 course dinner at Madison’s. We stayed in the Cascade cottage, which is a wonderful secluded cottage at the edge of the lodge property. The room was wonderful with vaulted beamed ceilings, a fireplace, and heated floors in the bathroom. Chocolate covered strawberries and champagne were a welcome gift in our room. The cottage is located steps away from a smaller private pool and hot tub part of the lodge grounds. A short one or two block walk had you right in the middle of town with shopping, restaurants and the Old Edwards spa and fitness center. Overall, it was a great 3 day getaway, centrally located in the mountains of NC. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don’t miss this if you are in the area. Allow yourself a relaxing day. Very elegant appointments with skilled professional services. Enjoy the “quiet room” or the spa restaurant while there. You will remember the experience! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
