One of our favorite places to visit!

This was my fourth trip to the Inn and it might have just been my favorite! They go above and beyond with their guest service experience services and the restaurants on property are all very good, as are the cocktails at FOUR65 Bistro. I cannot recommend it more highly... especially if you are looking for a get-away with good wine and food but also want to exercise during the day as the hiking in the area is absolutely beautiful! Lunch in a quaint British Inn

We went with family to this restaurant, which they touted to be incredible. It is a beautiful building, reminiscent of old British style inns in England. The staff was very friendly and proper. Our waitress did a good job and I have no complaints about her service. The food, however, was not up to the the level that I expected from this restaurant and certainly did not equate to the raves from my cousins. The salad was wilted, the soup cold, and the chicken salad plate was a very small size. I had to go home and eat again just to stop my hunger. I would go again, but i would be vocal if it was not up to par again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wow Wow - exceeded expectations! 5 Star

We live on Daniel Island SC for the past 3 years. Being from. New York our expectations are high for hotels,food and most of all service. Well Old Edwarda Inn deserves a 5 Star for our 8 night visit. First trip to the Highlands area .. . Areas that impressed were: During these difficult times the hotel has taken. Steps ensure that the guest feels safe. The reaturant in the hotel ensures hotel guests are given priority for breakfast and weekends. Hotel guests onlscy... Staff throughout highly trained to listen...interpret..engage.. simply the best.. Food was excellent at all food locations. Pool and facilites were beautiful with a staff highly visible to make your time memorable Hiking trails are close by ..making the walking easy to start. The best is the Dove Bars all day and all night to .make you smile.! Our first visit. Will not be our last.. Thank you to all the staff at the Highlands .... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Old school for sure

If you like hospitality, old school, you’ll enjoy a stay at Old Edwards. Comfortable accommodations with top of the line amenities. At every level the staff is ready to help. The concierge and bar man at Arts were professional in every way. Bruce at the front desk helped me correct a shopping error after I got home — hot pink for a seven year old boy—what was I smoking! Set in a jewel of a town in cool clear mountain air with choices of things to do, drink and eat Old Edwards is my kind of old school. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing experience

This is a beautiful hotel, but the service is subpar and covid precautions are inconsistent and poorly planned. We paid $1700 per night for two rooms this weekend. Before you spend a lot of money for this hotel, you should realize that it is mostly staffed by college students working summer jobs with immature professional skills and the service often reflects that. It is not worth the price or anywhere close to the price. The pool situation is terrible. They have enacted a rule for covid that each party can only spend 2 hours per day at the pool. They don’t mention this at check-in or reservations, it is only mentioned briefly on the website. However, they don’t take reservations for pool time like you would expect. So what ends up happening is if you go in the morning and are actively using your chair (I’m not talking about saving it and coming back later, I’m talking about sitting in it the entire time), at any point after 2 hours another guest who decides to show up later in the day can request you to leave the pool in order to take your spot. So for $1700 per night (plus taxes and fees), my family of three had to leave when another guest wanted our space at whatever time they decided to come to the pool that day. Except if you tip the waitress (I saw a young red head waitress take a tip from a couple and they magically got to stay at their chairs longer.) I spoke with the manager and she explained that this policy was created due to covid precautions to limit people at the pool, but if they can’t accommodate the number of guests in their facilities safely, then they shouldn’t have so many guests. Also, the staff were supposed to spray down the chairs with peroxide between parties but this usually amounted to one spray and a quick wipe, but what else should I expect from college students? The employees also did not seem to consistently understand/implement the covid plans. At times guests were told to leave the pool area and at times they were told to relocate to less desirable seats when new guests arrived just depending on who was working. They seemed also to be making waitlist for best seats. For example, I was part of a situation once where they moved group A to where group B was sitting, then group B to group C seats, and group C to group A seats. With people being moved all over the pool and poorly sanitized seats, this is a recipe for infection spread. Also note that the groupings of chairs at the pool are not 6 feet away from each other. On another note, in order to get my room, I literally checked in three times (first in the main check-in, then again in the main check-in after I was called that my room was ready, then I was sent to check in again in the lodge check-in). After the third check-in, I was left standing unattended in the middle of the lobby just waiting. When I finally asked why I was still waiting around with no room keys or bellman, a random manager told us there were no free bellmen so he told us where to park to get to our room and met us in the parking lot there. The manager didn’t offer to help with the bags and I had to ask him for a trolley. I don’t mind carrying my own bags, but why was he even awkwardly there to ‘help’ us get to our room if he wasn’t going to help and why did I have to ask for a trolley? This whole process was very time consuming because we had to drive between the two lobbies then again to our room. I am very disappointed with my stay. The service is fine for a budget hotel, but not one that costs over $800 per night and paying for multiple rooms. Just think twice of other options before you pay this much for Old Edwards. There are a lot of really nice hotels in the south where you can have a safer experience and a more professional experience for the money. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
