I'd skip this one...

I will start by saying nothing terrible happened during my stay (for business) at The Omni but I felt a variety of small things added up to a lackluster experience. Location: Not great. Definitely not walkable. It sits far from the main road on a long driveway so not entirely convenient. Because of this, I ate on-site... Food: I expect high food prices at hotels but what I don't agree with is extreme price gouging. I got a small iced coffee (nothing fancy; no espresso, no cold brews) and a fruit cup that was $19 and change with tax. I got smart for dinner and ordered Uber Eats. The Omni Valet was completely rude to my Uber Eats driver and the 60 seconds he was on their driveway. They then got a bit rude with me for having a delivery. There were no other cars on the driveway and my dropoff took all of 60 seconds. The dropoff impacted no one negatively, except for Omni missing out on another meal charge from me. Due to lack of options, I did a grab n' go breakfast from Birdies the morning I was leaving. CAUTION: the yogurts were expired by several days and I told the staff member. She got defensive and said, "Yes, I know". Oh okay. The room decor: very outdated, the shower looked like it was from 1989, no hair dryer in the room, and no lights over the shower, weird bar soap that left a slime on my skin. I always like to end reviews with would I stay here again? No. There are so many other hotels in Houston with great staff, reasonable prices, updated amenities/decor, and prime locations. Check your charges!

2 colleagues and I stayed in Houston for a business trip for 2 nights. Upon checking out, we realized that two of us had mini bar charges on our receipt. First off, we would never, ever pay for anything out of a mini bar since our travel expenses are audited by our organization and well we just have no need in paying 5 dollars for Pringle’s. Our admin assistant has been in contact with Omni employees who assured her the charges would be taken care of, however, they cannot provide any info into this oversight. The charges are still on my card and she just called the hotel back receiving some pushback from whoever she spoke to. This is unacceptable behavior from Omni and there seems to be no answers on how two separate rooms had erroneous mini bar charges. It turns out our other colleague had a similar situation with the “free” drink vouchers, he was charged an additional drink, which he did not consume and it took over 2 weeks for the charges to be credited back. Our admin has escalated the situation to the GM and hoping she gets a call back. Our organization will no longer stay at this Omni after such unprofessional practices. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel, but don't stay on the second floor!

There is a disco that plays loud booming music on Thursday through Saturday night. It doesn't stop until 1:30 am. It was impossible to get sleep on those nights! My coworkers who were on higher floors did not hear it, so I would advise folks who go to bed before 1:30 am to request a high floor! Other that that, I had a nice stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely Staff

It started with a resteraunt recommendation on the first night and we were thrilled with the service from that point on in our stay. The beds and pillows were unbelievably comfortable. The conference set up on the 2nd floor was beyond convenient. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A disappointment compared to other Omni's

I was very dissatisfied with this stay compared to other Omni Hotel stays I've had in other cities. There was no refrigerator in the room so forget saving leftovers from restaurants, there was no vending machines that we could find to get a drink either on our floor or in the lobby and the hotel "store" always seemed to be closed or out of what we needed, the ice machine on our floor was in some kind of janitor's closet with wires from some kind of electrical box sticking out behind it and it was an "old school" ice machine that had a scooper on a chain instead of just pushing a button like newer ice machines. There is literally nothing around this hotel within walking distance except commercial offices and condos so you have to rely on the hotel shuttle to go eat anywhere but that can lead to extremely long wait times for drop off and pick up if you are there during a conference like I was. The one restaurant this hotel has I thought was terrible with extremely slow service even though I ate there at an off hour time so the restaurant was not busy, not a lot of food choices and extremely overpriced. For example, I paid $15 for mac n' cheese. We were kicked out of the pool on multiple nights BEFORE the advertised closing time posted on the sign and we were NOT being loud in any way. We went to the pool until we were kicked out because there was absolutely nothing else to do or no where to go after the hotel shuttle stopped for the night. I would not stay here again if I had the choice next time this conference comes to Houston. C- at best. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
