Nice place with some weekend issues
Jun 5th, 2020
Let me start this by saying I am a Florida resident that booked this hotel for a weekend getaway. It seems like many people staying here were looking for a staycation as well. But beware of the weekend madness... The resort as a whole is very nice, but the overcrowded atmosphere makes it unenjoyable. The pool is way too small for the amount of people on a Saturday or Sunday. Forget finding a chair to lounge on, or even finding a small corner of the pool to swim in. You won't find it unless you're there at 8 am securing chairs. The crowds at the pool were a combination of kids jumping everywhere, to obnoxious adults being loud with their drinks in hand. Forget finding a quiet spot to relax on the pool deck. You will be surrounded by drunk/loud adults and rowdy kids. You will find the same atmosphere on the public beach next to the resort. The beach is nice, but it's overcrowded and you have to pay $30 each time to rent an umbrella. There are no free beach chairs either. The room was nice and big. The views were nice as long as you're not overlooking the public parking lot. I found myself more stressed at this place than relaxed. Do yourself a favor and avoid weekends here if you can. Amazing Stay at the hotel
Jun 1st, 2020
The wife and I went on a little getaway, had an amazing time, the rooms were nice and modern, we were on the 7th floor, saw diolefins and other fish from our room. Even got to see a manatees swim up. Towels were given for the beach, food is good, service is amazing. We will stay here again when we travel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Feeling a little uncertain about vacation plans given the current situation, we chose the Opal Sands in order to stay close to our Orlando home, yet still feel like we got away from it all. We were pleasantly surprised with the resort. Pros: Cleanliness was a priority, fairly large balconies with beach views, stunning sunsets and wildlife, wonderful pool-side drink and food service (shout-out to Samantha), nice evening ambiance on the grounds, solid food and drink options on site. Cons: The beach is not a private part of the resort, so expect public crowds, no separate pool for adults, so expect kids playing and splashing, extremely rude hostess one morning at breakfast--sweet waitress made up for it and apologized numerous times. Overall...our stay was exceptional, and I would recommend this resort to families, singles, and coupes looking to relax and unwind. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Beware the Covid 'New Normal'
May 25th, 2020
Beware of the Covid 'new normal', which basically means you're still paying $300/night while servicing your own room, which probably saves the resort a ton of money on operational costs. They provide a room cleaning once every five days, otherwise they'll drop a bag of towels, clean sheets and coffee refills upon request. Be prepared to take out your own garbage, change your own sheets and fold your own towels. Later get ready to fight other guests for beach chairs as there is no system for moderating and enforcing occupancy of them. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
