Either they overbook or have so many sick employees they can’t clean their hotel

Jun 27th, 2020

We made reservations more than a week prior to our arrival date. The date we were supposed to arrive, we had some travel delays and a change in itinerary and we weren’t sure we would make it into Scottsdale on that date (today, June 26, 2020). At noon I called and asked about the possibility of canceling one of our nights, knowing it was a long shot. The front desk let me know that they require a 2 night stay and cancellation 24 hours in advance. Bummer, but totally understand and we made some additional changes and headed out to Scottsdale. When we were within 15 minutes of arriving at 6:00 pm the resort called us, told us they overbooked and were moving us to the Embassy Suites. The Embassy is a fine hotel but I had booked a 740 sq ft suite with a finished patio to relax on, which Embassy doesn’t offer. Had I wanted to stay at the Embassy, I would have booked there. Not only that, but had they should have accommodated our cancellation request if they couldn’t honor our reservation in the first place. We requested to speak to a manager who informed us that so many employees were sick and went home early today that they couldn’t clean all their rooms. Luckily, they offered a refund instead of forcing us to stay at Embassy and we were able to book a much nicer room, last minute, at Scottsdale Camelback Resort. When I called back to request that they refund us, that front desk employee told me they’d had such an influx of guests that they couldn’t accommodate our reservation. So, either they overbooked or so many people are sick that they couldn’t work. Either way, not a place I ever want to chance staying at. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place to stay. Centrally located to shopping (Kierland Commons 10-minute drive), restaurants (tons to choose from -- we especially enjoyed Eggstasy on Shea Blvd.), and outdoor activities (hiking, pickleball, etc.). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Quiet, comfortable and relaxing

Mar 27th, 2020

This was a great resort for getting away to sun and pool in March. The unit was very comfortable and secure, the grounds well-maintained, and the staff responsive and friendly. I loved the pool with wine and a good book; it was always well stocked with towels. My only <5 was the parking/parking lot, which was a little crazy due to being so full. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great time in Arizona

Mar 12th, 2020

Nice room, decent mattress, very nice size bathroom. The couch and two chairs seemed to be very outdated and there needs to be a second chair on the small patio. The biggest problem that we read about in many of the reviews focused on lack of parking. And we stayed in Building #1, which has the largest parking lot. Can't imagine the headaches associated with some of the buildings located farther away from the office. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
