Small room, nice decor, staff not great

Sep 15th, 2019

Very small room given the price however the decor was nice. The bathroom shower needs some work as it leaks water out between the glass doors. Advised the staff but nothing done while I was there. The evening front desk staff were very curt and snappy. Took me from being a guest with a question to a very displeased guest. Not what I’m used to from this brand... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wear down hotel

Sep 15th, 2019

I stayed 4 nights at the Marriott and I was very disappointed. The room was very old, the tile, bathtub, shower curtain and curtains were stained. There was an old water bottle from the previous guest still in the nightstand. Elevators were the slowest, had to wait several minutes before I got to the main floor, while riding with the cleaning crew and their giant rack/garbage. The little shop downstairs (water etc.) is a total ripe off ($6 for 10 Advils, $3 for a water bottle..) The bed was awesome, and the bedding very comfortable. I won’t go back... Good hotel, nice view

Sep 14th, 2019

We had stayed at the hotel and we know the hotel and the area. We had a nice corner room with a splendid view of the Parliament Hill and Ottawa river. The room and the bed were very good, the service was good as well. The bathroom could use some renovation, but nothing really critical. Overall it was a very good experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great room, not so great service

Sep 3rd, 2019

Stayed for three nights, as a family touring the city. Location. The Marriott is in a pretty good location, maybe a 10 minute walk from the Parliament buildings. There are restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, including fast food; a Tim Horton's across the street and a McDonald's a block away. The room. The room is really good, the bed and pillows are super comfortable. The view was fantastic, on our first night we had a world class view of the fireworks. Facilities. The pool area is nice, although it's not a huge pool and it fills up fast. It is clean though, and plenty of chairs for sitting around. Parking. The self-parking is not for the faint of heart, or those with large SUVs. It is tight, especially the ramps. Typically I had to park three or four levels down. Elevators from parking to the lobby are in a state of repair, one never worked and the buttons did not light up. Twice I just ended up taking the stairs, which is far because between P1 and Main Lobby there are three other levels. Service. This is where they really fall short. The front desk team needs to be a little more welcoming. Upon check out, the woman at the front desk couldn't seem to get rid of me fast enough, even though there was no line. She also didn't bother to ask me how my stay was, or anything else for that matter. For some reason the Marriott no longer will print the bill out for you unless you ask for it, nor was it emailed to me in advance. Nor was it viewable on the TV or slid under my door. Weirdly they just hand it to you and expect you to leave, and assume it's all correct. Service at the restaurant was also a problem. We ate there a lot, because it was convenient - but I wouldn't plan on it next time. On our second night, the waiter (who appeared to also be the bartender) just disappeared to the bar to talk to customers. It wasn't that busy and he simply just did not return. We finally had to ask other waiters for help with out drinks, and to get the bill. They seemed uncomfortable with this as we were not their table. Another time the waiter messed up our order, but we were told it was our fault (it wasn't). :( Housekeeping was terrific. Overall I would stay there again, I just wouldn't eat there. Close to Carlton

Great views. I was in town to sort out my child university items and to look into a potential businnes connection. The place is huge and clean. I had one issue the bathroom was not stocked but other than that my view of the River made up for it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
