Starting to feel very old

Jan 17th, 2020

We just spent 10 nights in an beachfront room on the 6th floor. We have stayed here before 10 & 12 years ago and it looks identical. Beachfront rooms are decent size but bathrooms def need a redo. They are dark and small - cld easily be opened up and brought up to date. We purchased the club room voyager 47 access. Pretty average to be honest. The breakfast had a meager selection of food literally pinched from the reef grill buffet downstairs plus some bread/bagels and little else. Every single morning (10 in total) we had to ask for butter which took a minimum of 5-10mins to come with toast being stone cold by the time it arrived. Something so simple but they cld not deliver. The evening canapés there were slightly better, the food once again pretty average with a half decent selection of beer and wine. The terrace and reef grill is riddled with fearless pigeons so if on the terrace or eating downstairs it was a constant battle trying to stop them eating our food. The staff do try and get rid of them but to no avail. We have travelled exstensively and experienced many executive clubs - Voyager 47 missed the mark completely in our opinion. Front office staff were nice but some of the bell desk and valet need to find other jobs - the looks on their face says it all. Pool area is decent with a 3 meter deep pool but the drinks service around the pool was very ordinary. We did some of the free activities with our kids and they were great as was the guy conducting them. Internet was pretty bad and made us connect every single day even though it free with the club access which we found annoying. Although there is Starbucks in the building, the best coffee is around the corner on Lewers st at Big Wave Dave’s. We will prob not stay here again when in Waikiki next time and look for something else. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

On the beach. Free shuttle to mall, Diamond Head, zoo.

I chose this hotel because of the location on the beach, price, and availability. At check in they serve you a small glass of juice. The workers are friendly and courteous. We got a free upgrade to an Ocean View. The room had a balcony and overlooked a courtyard with a pool, and to the right was the beach. It is a narrow beach during high tide, but that did not bother us. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a free shuttle (trolley). It does not stop at the hotel, but at the Trump Hotel around the corner. It makes a short loop to a beach and the largest mall in Hawaii, and then a large loop to the beach, zoo, and Diamond Head. It stops at Diamond Head every 75 minutes so if you miss the bus you have to wait for more than an hour or get a taxi. The shuttle driver kept up a commentary on the sights along the way. If it is your last day, you can check out, leave your luggage with the bell hops, and keep your keys to get on the shuttle. The shuttle can save you a lot of money and the service is very greatly appreciated. The room price was mid range considering the location, but then does add on a resort fee. You might be able to get a discount with AAA or some other groups. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Everything we hoped for.

We were very impressed with the location, beauty of the hotel, restaurants, staff and service. We were on the beach and enjoyed an incredible view from our room (7th floor, ocean view upgrade). Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the trolley ride and looking at the shops. The food was great, too. Thank you for the lovely visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

2019 New Year's Vacation

Jan 13th, 2020

The location is GREAT and has tons of restaurants in the vicinity. The food prices are reasonable. The activities are pricey but I'd suggest wait till you get there to book activities as there will be competing vendors. They had only one pool for everyone and not that big, and yes it is on the beach but many tourist resorts I have been to have several pools TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Outstanding experience - 11/10

Jan 12th, 2020

I stayed at the Outrigger reef in January 2020. The staff were super caring, friendly and exceptional with their attention to detail to ensure I had all and information I required to enjoy my stay with them and in Hawaii in general. Their rooms are spacious and house keeping is very organised, ensuring our room was always clean and beds made ect very promptly. The hotel itself is perfectly located, walking distance to everything. Will stay there again when I return to Hawaii, recommend them to friends and family and anyone else considering somewhere to stay!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
