Every box checked

Went for 50 something girls weekend which included theater tickets. Loved everything about the hotel, including its location in the theater district. Every staff member was pleasant and anticipated our needs. Front desk got us pleasantly upgraded. Our rooms were huge and adjoining. Hotel bar was beautiful and fun. Breakfast left us feeling completely satisfied. This iconic beauty has to be experienced. Go here, you’ll be delighted. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don’t expect Executive Level service at this hotdk

Jan 20th, 2020

Poked on the Executive level (paid extra) only to find out the Executive level service was barely nonexistent. Three crappy luke warm appetizers and cold breakfast buffet. Staff was helpful and did refund some points to my account. But, from what was a prior experience to this recent experience turned me off. Room was clean, but paint was peeling off the bathroom door. In-room phone broken and TV reception was poor. It wasn’t until next morning the TV menu worked. Too many other options in Chicago. Don’t plan on making this hotel an option next visit TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great historic hotel

Jan 20th, 2020

Room was larger than expected. Bathroom was as small as expected. Everything else was great. Parking and validation went better than I recall for other hotels. Re-use of spaces that housed long time restaurants and bars was done well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Grand lobby, average rooms. Executive Lounge now CLOSED

Jan 20th, 2020

The Palmer House was once a grand hotel - the lobby area still is! The rooms, however, are showing their age and are in serious need of renovation. Combine this with the world's smallest bathrooms and you get an average hotel stay. Location is the primary value here - it is very near the Art Institute, the Theater District and Millennium Park. A big loss for Hilton Diamond members - the Executive Lounge is now closed. The front desk staff said it is temporary, though management is considering closing it permanently. Seems to be the trend with Hiltons across the U.S. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful, Historic Hotel Needs Attention

Jan 20th, 2020

I have been staying at this hotel every year since 2004. They have made many upgrades to the common areas and maintain it's historic charm. However, only once in this timeframe have the rooms been fully upgraded. My room this visit featured blinds in need of repair, chair/ottoman in need of replacement, a shower that lacked a working mix valve, insufficient hot water pressure, peeling paint around door edges and wallpaper and worst was the rusted metal at the bottom of the vanity. This is a wonderful property that seems to now be most interested in profit generation than excellent hospitality, the lack of attention to fine details in the room was truly disappointing.
