Amazing Staycation!

Jul 20th, 2019

I came for my cousins Birthday party a few weeks ago and had a Blast. It is Definitely a nice resort to visit. My favorite part was the bonfire and s’more kit we received from Elton and Matt! Those guys were amazing hostess for our family. They responded quickly and always asked if there was anything else we needed. Thanks to them they made us feel comfortable! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A total Illusion

Jul 19th, 2019

to make it short, I booked a family vacation of 5 rooms. I booked myself the expensive $700 night bungalow on the cove. The reason was, I wanted the beach for the family, as there was a fire pit and a great "on the water" view. They said fires were allowed and I would be right on the beach. Well I was on the beach, and there were fire pits, but what the resort fails to tell you is all the coastline beaches are " Public Beaches", not owned by the resort. So what happens, to my surprise, is that huge family gatherings of locals poor onto the beach early in the am and stake out all of the fire pits and set up tents and party till 5am, right in front of your beautiful Bay view. They also like to leave there chairs or sneak in at 11pm to put chairs, to stake the fire pit for the next night. It was horrible. If you go, Skip the water-view rooms and make sure u pay regular hotel rates for this place, as its not a resort or spa. I'm currently having Amex look into getting a refund. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

How can San Diego disappoint?

Jul 15th, 2019

Expectations play a huge role in any evaluation. Book a $99 single at the Notso Comfort Inn and you take what you get and keep your mouth shut. Book a $400 double queen bungalow Supreme Bayview at Mission Bay? Well your expectations range a bit higher. We travel a great deal, and frankly we could count on one hand the number of rooms, at whatever cost, that have been more modest. Two queens? Check. Distance between the out side of each and the room walls? Maybe one foot. As a matter of fact the beds occupied perhaps 60% of the floor space. The commode and bath were in a room so small that any person of size simply could not comfortably use the facilities. Reading chair? Well not exactly. There was a modest table in a closet like alcove slightly larger than the table, with a hard back chair, but if you wanted to read? Not so good...no lighting around. Wanted to read in bed? One table light between the two beds...no discretionary use of lighting possible. Where to put your suitcase? The familiar fold out rack was tucked in a modest closet also filled with a chest...put the fold out anywhere near the foot of the two queens (your only viable choice) and you had a traffic hazard. A “best Western this wasn’t...no where near as roomy. Now to add insult to injury. I submerged my disappointment (and frankly anger because in addition to the high room rates were tacked on a resort fee and parking charge that added nearly another hundred dollars per night!) and headed to the main desk. A nice young man was very polite surveyed his computer at my request for a room change and said, “Sorry we are completely booked out—not a single room of any size available.” I then went back to my room and did what I should have done before going to the desk...I checked the hotel website for my room type and found a lovely shot of a spacious attractive roomy Bayview room WHICH OF COURSE HAD IN COMMON WITH MY ROOM ONLY DOORS AMD WALLS. I then checked on availability, for this night, on the hotel website, and found rooms AVAILABLE that were a/ more spacious, b/ better furnished, and c/ cheaper! I lingered over my choices, looked at my 10 year old grandson who only wanted to be fed and take a swim, closed my laptop and said, “Let’s have a pizza and take a swim.” Course he wasn’t out $500 a night...verrrry disappointing but disappointment with a cheap room balanced by God’s gift of San Diego and Mission Bay. Next time we’ll stay at Best Western. No better accommodations of course, but no worse and at a fraction of the cost. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice place but overprived

Jul 11th, 2019

This is a nice location and comfortable rooms. Good pool area. However the $38 per night parking charge is outrageous and the resort food is poor and overpriced. Useful base to explore San Diego but many nicer places nearby to eat out. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Staycation

Jul 7th, 2019

A little more than a week before 4th of July on a whim I called to see if any bungalows were available, of course all taken. I left my number just incase there was an available bungalow. Got a call back a couple of days later from Josh offering a garden room, I declined because we have been spoiled by the bungalows on the bay. A couple more days later I got a call from Bell saying one opened up. I immediately took it and was estatic for my family. The customer service over the phone and "ALL" the employees at the resort are phenomenal. Special shot out to Eric Ramos who went above and beyond during our time there. Eric took my daughter with him in his kayak when I could not balance my self on the paddle board with my daughter. And every time we ran in to him at the resort he was always friendly and asked us how things were going. I signed my daughter up for the kids island adventure and guess who was the leader at this event-Yes Eric! Made my daughter even more comfortable being there. We usually request a bungalow in the cove area but beggars couldn't be choosers at this point. Got a room in the Orchid area #213 and have to say loved this side more than the cove side. New request from now on, lol. The family pool was a great time for us! Smores by the fire pits watching fireworks on the 70 ft tower, throwing frisbee on the bay, etc..... we cant wait to go back. Sincerely , Ramos Family ❤🙏🏽👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🇵🇷🔥 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
