Great location - watch out for parking!

Sep 17th, 2020

We stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was overlooking the bus terminal at the front of the hotel this didn’t bother us and we had no noise from it either still very quiet. The room itself was nice spacious and clean. The location of the hotel was great a 2 minute walk from all the shops bars and restaurants. We went to the pool while we were there again lovely and clean you do have to book a slot at reception. Now the hotel doesn’t have parking it’s self but there is a NCP right over the road. It’s very pricey if you don’t plan ahead. Luckily I read about it before coming. If you book 24hrs before it’s £5 for 24hrs so all in all the parking cost us £15 for the whole 3 days we were there. If you don’t book ahead it’s £28 for 24hrs so massive difference and even with the hotel’s discount you can’t get it cheaper than if you book 24hrs before. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great stay !

Sep 15th, 2020

My wife and I spent a long weekend staying here and would definitely return. The hotel is clean, friendly and has a good gym and fair sized swimming pool. (20m). Our room was overlooking a small river and some trees to the rear of the hotel which made it very quiet. Note though that the front overlooks a main bus terminus so I can't comment on how quite all the rooms are. Ideally located on the edge of the town center between the shops, castle and cultural quarter almost everything is with easy walking distance. We risked the hotel restaurant on the last night and were very pleasantly surprised. Excellent food, drinks and service. I'll post a separate review of the Laguna. Parking opposite the hotel is quite pricy at £28/day but reception can validate your ticket when you're ready to leave for a 25% discount. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Really nice hotel and staff

Sep 13th, 2020

I stayed at the Park Plaza whilst on a course in Cardiff. The staff are really friendly, helpful and professional. I felt safe, valued and well looked after. The food is really good, room service fab. Breakfast was tasty and service excellent. Bar and restaurant are elegantly decorated and have an upmarket yet approachable feel. The terrace is lovely - nice to have the option to sit and eat/drink outside, surrounded by trees. I didn’t use the spa or gym, but I saw the pool, which is visible from the end of the terrace, and it looked really nice. My executive room, 403, was large, high ceilings, lovely bathroom. View of trees and not overlooked at all. Welcome gifts of snacks and drinks, and gown and slippers. Bed huge and really comfy. I slept really well both nights. Parking at the NCP just across the road is very close but expensive (over night was £21 with discount from hotel), but this is no different from any other city hotel. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

TOP TIP If you’re staying here, download the NCP app, it will save you over £20 per night! (The Hotel Really should tell you this..!) I had two very lovely nights here. The rooms are 10/10 for cleanliness and comfort. The staff are lovely and so helpful. On the second stay I was given a room with a lot of bus noise, I asked if they could change it & it was done immediately without problems. The spa is a small pool with jacuzzi, numbers limited due to coved so you need to book. In my experience it was always very quiet and beautifully clean. I had a massage by Libby which was top class, among the best I’ve ever had & my sore back muscles thank her! Only two quibbles- they SHOULD tell you about the parking charges- it’s a big difference between £5 and £28 per night! Breakfast in my opinion was poor. We are all booking times now, there were about 6 people on my sitting so no excuse for dried out buffet when cooked to order makes more sense. The sausages seemed of the cheapest variety. But the chef was more than happy to make me fresh toast when asked, so this seems like it is a a poor management decision. I would stay here again, but tomorrow I will have breakfast elsewhere! Spa Break

Sep 6th, 2020

Just returned from an outstanding 2 night stay in this lovely hotel. We were a large group of mums and daughters who were supposed to be in Spain. Unfortunately our flights were cancelled so we booked a spa break. Really impressive standards of care in the hotel in relation to Covid measures; lovely spacious rooms, amazing breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea in the restaurant with excellent service. The spa, pool, gym, spin classes and all the treatments we had from the therapists were incredible. A special thank you to Stephanie for organising the weekend for us and her patience with the numerous emails and changes made! The weekend was amazing. We’ll definitely be back soon! Thank you so much xx TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
