Can do better

Sep 22nd, 2019

Previous communication through booking was not followed up (asking for the presence of electric vehicle (EV) charging plug - or just a simple plug). Cleanliness of the room was not top-notch: some glasses provided were sticky. Checkout was slow: only one person attending for a hotel of more than 50 rooms and issues with the printer. I asked for an invoice to the name of my company. It was generated to my name and not sent in an e-mail as offered by the staff. As an EV owner I'm starting to consider the lack of charging plug as a real issue. The number of EVs is going to explode in the coming years, and having a few plugs will be insufficient. Offering one charging option to guests should not be an issue. The staff was friendly. Overall the bed and bathroom were fine. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place and staff!

Excellent place for families with kids, very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are very clean and you feel that the property is very well taken care of. Quiet room, we had a very good night of sleep. Stay there, you won’t be disappointed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No AC even though they advertise it

Jul 1st, 2019

I booked this room as a quick stopover. The metro is directly out the front door. I booked it mainly because it says they have AC. They do not! It was 36C in my room. I showed the smug French man working the deck where it listed AC as an amenity. He said sorry that’s wrong. He could care less. It’s wrong for anyone to stay here is what I say. People were packed in the lobby looking for other options. The elevator wasn’t working. Seeing I had a room on the 4th floor and a 70 lb back back I was less than amused. It’s 1 am here and too hot to sleep. Luckily I have a table fan to move the air around. Stay away from here TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The most appalling and misleading hotel

Mar 20th, 2018

The staff was pleasant, the sheets & towels were fine Everything else was terrible - the apartments and corridors have not been maintained for years - holes in walls - unsafe lights in kitchen (supposed to be water proof but with holes so that you could put your fingers in) - missing door - heating not working (they had to add extra radiators) - floor sticky - sink not cleaned (not flowing for 10mn when full) - corridor carpet black stains every where - when questioned they stated that their direction doesn’t give them funding, however they demand a deposit of 250€!!! - and they also stated that they had not been told about the sink, my view is that they should check every time if they clean properly I wore a review on booking.com but they only kept one picture which is not representative So here is the full story Place to avoid at all price One would expect to find places like that deep interesting China but not in Lyon Absolutely unacceptable TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good potential but poor maintenance let it down

Nov 21st, 2017

Some good things about this place, left with mixed feelings however about whether I would risk a return. Great things are: good reception staff English speaking, very pleasant and efficient. Extremely hard working and someone always available in the comfortable, spacious reception lounge 24/7 which is unusual in our experience in this price range. Good location - right by Lyon's excellent clean, spacious and swift metro. Not a lot in the immediate area however those with young children will appreciate the playpark right outside and there is a good sized auchan store on the same block. I also noticed a pharmacy and buffet style Asian restaurant. Parking - a little awkward to access on initial arrival as it is sited underneath the complex therefore not immediately obvious with its entrance on the side street, however once inside it's secure and well lit with direct lift access to all floors. It is necessary to park up on-street, dash in, get a pass and directions and then park. There is some on street parking if you're lucky and it's free if you can get it but as in a hire car we paid the 10 euros per night for peace of mind. Negotiating Lyon's streets by car is not for the faint hearted but the pace is generally slow. First impressions of the residence are pleasing therefore with its carpeted corridors and brass door furniture. We never had breakfast so couldn't comment but we did think 12 euros a pop quite expensive when you can get everything one step away from the supermarket outside. The breakfast area looked nice enough, however. Also from reception there is an excellent laundry facility with a wash 4 euros and 2 euros for the dryer. Take own washing powder as none we could see for sale. A free ironing board is available and an iron can be borrowed from reception. Watch the eco lights as they don't stay on very long and the panel is by the door. Having reached the apartment itself (ours was for 4) hopes were high and the first impression is good. Plenty warm enough with a wall control that seemed to be doing the job. Large windows give plenty of light and the built in furniture is robust and new-looking. The lounge has a good sized desk area as well as a dining table. The TV worked ok and the free WiFi was adequate for a hotel but daily signing in was required. Flooring was a sensible lino style not cold on the feet. Might have been a bit of a squeeze for four on the double settee, but fine for us and our daughter when she dropped by. Kitchenette small but just about adequate for a few simple meals with a double hob, microwave and fridge. Bathroom was a little dated but clean. Little hallway had a great sized cupboard large enough to store suitcases in. Bedroom looked adequate with spotless bedding and a further cavernous wardrobe. It's only after staying a night that the problems emerge. As there were so many I will list them without commenting: Kitchenette: no cooking utensils at all, except basic plates, mugs and cutlery and a few lidless pans. We had to buy some from the supermarket. Inadequate bin liners, again had to buy as provided ones only the size of a sick bag. Striplight over this area flashed and flickered and there was no kettle. Making tea involved boiling a pan of water each time. The fridge did not get cold enough for storing meat even on max setting. Lounge: settee looked a bit saggy, did not make it into a bed but would not have liked to test it as a bed. Corners of the room at the ceiling were black which was condensation from all the water boiling we thought so could have done with a lick of paint. Bedroom: this singularly the worst bed I have ever experienced. We think a bed slat must have broken as the whole bed lurched down and to the left when lying on it. There was the effect of climbing a mountain each night just to stay in it. Only one pillow each provided and not of good quality - disappointing. There was only one socket for charging on the left hand side, another socket was located high up on the wall where a TV had clearly been removed leaving open unfilled holes and a black impact stain. The curtain had been horizontally slashed, a repair had been attempted with metal staples, not safe for kids. Bedding was clean and of reasonable quality. Bathroom: more black sooty corners here together with a weak flush toilet and a shower head that could not be positioned so it was impossible to get a proper shower. The bath was high sided so difficult to get in and out of. Tiles were dated but the grout was clean and fresh. The sink was very slow draining. There was only one toilet roll so we worried that it would run out at an inconvenient time, and we bought more ourselves. The towels were clean but rough and worn and only one large one. In conclusion this has been my longest review ever because it is frustrating when with a few minor repairs and additions, this could be a much better facility. Will you risk it?
