I'm usually happy just about anywhere and was excited to get some island time while hubby was on a business trip. This is a beautiful resort when you pull up and I was excited they had several pools including a swim up bar for me to kill time in. As we walked to our room, we noticed our room was right up against the laundry room and golf cart parking. My husband is a very light sleeper and when we asked to be placed away from the elevators we had no idea. We returned to the lobby to request another room and were met with open hostility. This particular desk clerk wouldn't help me or speak to me the rest of our stay, she would only glare. (what's that about??) Our room was large, clean and had everything we needed.... and one thing we didn't - the old washcloth from the last person's stay still in the shower. Breakfast was on the 4th floor of the building at the entrance. It was pretty much the same food daily but always hot and plentiful. One morning the coffee was empty but they quickly got us fresh. I spent a lot of time at the pools each day, I was the only person in any of the pools and felt like the only person on the property. I tried to have lunch at the swim up bar but discovered they open at 3pm. Except they don't. It's 3pm Island Time which means at 3:40 they still weren't open and I finally left and walked over to the Marketplace next door. Our room was generally cleaned by 3pm. The 2nd day I asked the housekeeper for more coffee and I received several packets but the paper cups were never replaced. We always had sufficient clean bathtowels but hand towels and bathmats were hit or miss. The floor was always mopped, however. I would say cleanliness was about a 4 out of 5. The grounds were beautiful and maintained daily as were the pools. We received passes on the ferry to the beach which we rode to see where it took you. The ferry was quick and the driver friendly. The beach was very nice but when we decided to go to the beach on Saturday, the ferry wasn't running. Most of the employees at the hotel and all of the employees at the gate were very friendly and we were often greeted with "morning, morning" if we greeted them first. The property seemed abandoned during the daytime but at night the parking lot would be full although we rarely saw other people. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Spent a night at the beginning and end of a week in the Bahamas. Great location close to shopping and numerous bars and restaurants. Beautiful pools and view. Rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pleasant Surprise

Jul 20th, 2019

The hotel property was changed shortly before my scheduled arrival, and at first I was disappointed, but found Pelican Bay to be very accommodating. Minor problem when a/c ceased working, but it was immediately attended to. Hotel staff friendly and helpful at all times. Rooms somewhat "dated", but large, spacious, great balcony! Only minor disappointment was the provided breakfast. Very routine, not well supplied, and boring. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful place to stay

Jul 2nd, 2019

This was a last minute trip, a surprise from my husband and we found Pelican Bay on line. Upon checking in (early - not a problem), William was polite, professional, helpful and informative as he directed us to our room, giving us excellent directions. We found our room without a problem (with an ice machine 2 doors down). Our room was clean, spacious, cool and inviting with a refrigerator and a coffee machine. Sitting on our balcony overlooking the marina in the morning was the best, enjoying the coffee the hotel provided. We found a couple of restaurants and a bar on site if we didn't feel like leaving the property. Pelican Bay does not have beach access but provides water taxi passes to another location that does have beach access. They do, however, have 3 very clean pools. Shopping is within walking distances with multiple restaurants as well. I had never been to Pelican Bay but have every intention of returning. Very nice facility, even better staff.
