A Most Satisfying Turn of Happenstance!

Jul 19th, 2019

My wife and I arrived on Sunday, 07.14.19, for our first visit to The Peppermill Resort and Spa, to celebrate our 24th Anniversary; although we had plans to do something to celebrate, the notion of going to Reno and staying at The Peppermill Resort and Spa was a last minute decision. It was also a most satisfying turn of happenstance! From the most we arrived (late for our 3pm check-in) until the last minutes before our 11am check the following Wednesday (07.17.19), we both had wide smiles of joy and a deep sense of satisfaction during our luxurious and relaxing visit. The Peppermill Resort and Spa was both more than we expected and one of the best vacation values we’ve ever experienced. Our room in The Tuscany Tower (an upgrade from what we had original booked/paid for), was huge, well appointed and very hospitable. We appreciated being located at the end of the hall (room 636), next to the ice machine and across the hall from a “secret” elevator, down to the Tuscana Spa and Salon lobby (on the 2nd floor); this was preferable because we never had to wait long for the elevator ride, we had easy access to The Spa and Pool area and we were able to park close to the building. Our room featured a tub spa, a luxury my wife indulged in twice a day, because it felt so good. We had a nice view of Mt. Rose from our room, we appreciated the in-room mini-fridge and ability to stream content (Netflix & Spotify) through the large flat screen television and, naturally, the room was very clean and comfortable. Every staff member we encountered, from Cyn, (from Watts, Ca.) a front desk rep, who helped us check-in at the easy to use, speedy self-service check-in kiosk; to the friendly staff in the restaurants, gaming rooms and at the spa/pool, until the bellhops who helped us when it was time to leave, every staff member gave excellent service and always made us feel good about our visit. Although one could easily find minor faults or problems (TV placement was not good, weak shower pressure, not enough K-cups for the coffee machine, the pool closed early, etc.); all of the issues we encountered we so minor, it’s not even worth mentioning. Perhaps my only suggestion is regarding the resort’s cannabis policies; they clearly state they do not tolerate the consumption of cannabis on resort property. This, for me as a medical consumer, as well as MANY OTHERS (I’m sure), was a significant inconvenience. I had to leave the premises, either drive around or walk through the neighborhoods, to simply smoke a joint. I felt like I was in high school or Oklahoma or something; I felt the need to hide my necessary consumption which, honestly, irked me quite a bit. This “zero tolerance” policy is ludicrous, given Nevada’s very liberal laws on cannabis consumption. There are designated areas for cigarette smoking, drinking alcohol (both far more dangerous than cannabis) but yet, the cannabis consumer is made to hide and shunned by the resort…a place people come to rest, relax and rejuvenate…but only if you drink booze and smoke ciggies, is this fair? Is this a smart move in terms of business? I think not; the cannabis friendly resort, a place which perhaps provides a “safe designated area” for cannabis consumption, or maybe even cannabis friendly rooms, will reap a HUGE BOOM in business. I’m sure I’ll be among the first to book a stay at that hotel…but until then, the next time my wife and I go to Reno for a get-away (we live only 90 minutes away in California), we’ll surely stay at The Peppermill Resort and Spa! All Inclusive Hotel

Jul 18th, 2019

This was my second consecutive month staying here for two nights. The room rates are excellent for the area. This casino hotel has everything for their guests. There are a multitude of restaurants making it a perfect place for a temporary stay while visiting on business. I stayed in both their Tuscany Tower and their west wing. The rooms are all excellent, however the West Wing rooms on the west side (even numbered rooms) are a little noisy with the traffic noise. I ate at several of their restaurants and the service was outstanding but I’d only rate the food at a B+. The food is all good but I never had or saw anything over the top. The casino is just huge, every gaming option is available. I will always try to stay here on any future business trips to Reno. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unmet Expectations

Jul 9th, 2019

Spouse & I have enjoyed the Peppermill for six years, but no longer feel like valued guests. We expected to: 1.) Receive a reservation email confirming promotional room rates and total for our stay, exclusive of fees & taxes. That didn't happen. 2.) To be given the Tuscany Tower patio suite I specifically reserved & Peppermill confirmed. The self-service kiosk is fast/efficient, but assigned a veranda, where we've stayed for the last two years. But I'd checked in & didn't care to stand in a long line to switch rooms. 3.) To be treated with respect & understanding when I questioned the two $190 Peppermill Tower room charges + the $70 Tuscany upgrades. Front Desk agent Katie demonstrated neither. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice Casino

Jul 8th, 2019

If you gamble it is a nice place to do it. I stayed in the outer lower rooms and never got the chance to use the pool or spa.(but still got charged the huge resort fees') They should be honest and add the fee's to their room prices since it is a cost you cannot get out of. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fun family weekend at the Peppermill

Jul 6th, 2019

We held our family reunion at the Peppermill Resort and Spa Casino. It was the perfect location for all our family members from age 5 to 80! We enjoyed delicious meals at several of the onsite restaurants, we swam in the pools and jacuzzi's, rented a nice cabana for the day and enjoyed the casino too. The fitness center was clean and quite a bit of good equipment and they let us use the yoga room for a private family yoga class! The rooms were clean, large and we all had nice views of the pool area and mountains. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Highly recommend staying here is your travels bring you to Reno! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
