It's the little things

Dec 12th, 2019

I arrived at the Pestana Cidadela Cascais on crutches. Immediately the concierge came out with the hotel wheelchair that I was encouraged to use for our entire stay. It made all the difference in the world. The check in was a breeze and our bags were wisked to our room. In minutes I was comfortable. The room was conveniently located with the breakfast room down the hallway and the elevator close by. My husband was able to get out to do a bit of sightseeing and enjoy the historic area while I enjoyed the comfortable room. That evening we went to the downstairs bar for a light dinner. It was peaceful down there surrounded by books with records (yes there was a record player) playing in the background. The food was good and the waitstaff was extremely friendly and helpful with their recommendations. The breakfast buffet was delicious with many food choices but the view was unparalleled. To enjoy breakfast watching the waves break on the beach was incredible. We were only at the Pestana for one night but my hope is to return again without the crutches and their wheelchair and enjoy every part of this lovely hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Couples Getaway for a Week of October Sunshine

Nov 23rd, 2019

We were driven from the airport to the hotel after we arrived late at night, and were immediately enthralled by the amazing castle setting. There's a huge courtyard with multiple sculptures and art galleries, and a fantastic restaurant. Our room was cool and clean, with a nice view of the interior garden and easy access to a small but serviceable gym. Staff were always friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was an incredible experience - my partner was particularly fond of the 'pastel de nata' - small custard tarts, and the fresh honeycomb ready to be scooped. I was a big fan of the coffee and the passion fruit juice. The indoor pool was luxurious and fun - I spent some time teaching my partner to swim! As we were there in October, it was quite quiet and for the most part we had the pool to ourselves. The outdoor pool was also nice, though we used it less as it was a tad cold, given the time of year. We both also had a spa session which we both enjoyed, and were able to relax with tea by the pool afterward. The hotel was well-situated, a quick walk into Cascais to explore a vast range of restaurants, the beach, and the train station for a 30 minute trip to Lisbon. Overall, we had an amazing time and have discussed revisiting this charming hotel with its wonderful locale. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unique property

Nov 18th, 2019

The hotel is in a fort, so expect cobbled path to the pool and a quirky layout that means its not straight forward to get to your room. We had a room that was above reception and it was clean and comfortable. It is a truly lovely hotel, we found the staff professional and friendly. Breakfast was good quality and on one windy night also had dinner which was good. Hotel is set up hill from the main part of Cascais, but is within a short walk. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best breakfast ever

Nov 17th, 2019

The hotel room was clean, comfortable and pretty standard as far as the room goes. The hotel is full of interesting modern art as you walk through the lobby and corridors. The location along the waterfront is very convenient. Parking was for a fee, but was easy and convenient at the lot next door. But the thing that really stood out for me and my mom was the free breakfast - we’ve never had a better one. Amazing cheeses. Excellent pastries. They even had a fresh honeycomb dripping honey to top your breakfast or add a bit of flavor to your tea. Would definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
