Beautiful hotel in Lisbon.

Beautiful hotel. Clean, fabulous room, very comfy bed, gorgeous breakfast and food overall if only it were served a little hotter. I would stay in the hotel again. The rooms in the main hotel (Castle) were absoutly gorgeous. Fantastic. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Felt like royalty in this palace

Feb 5th, 2020

Beautiful palace that has been converted into a hotel with a modern wing added for bedrooms - a great blend of old and new. Very responsive and helpful staff throughout the hotel. We didn't have time to use all the facilities but those we used were great such as the Jacuzzi and left luggage service. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and beautifully decorated. Was threatened and disrespected by a staff member

Jan 24th, 2020

Even though, the customer service was not the best, especially not for a five-star 'palace' hotel, I was having an enjoyable stay until I was basically threatened and treated rudely by one of the security guards. Note the hotel was hosting a high-school conference, meaning there were lots of kids staying there. Days before we were told no large group should be seen in the hallways at night (???), which we obliged to. One night around 10 PM we saw the guards coming and we instructed our kids to go to their rooms, one kid shouted something and we quickly shushed him and closed the door. The guard, in spite of that, decided to knock so hard on the door it seemed like he was about to knock it down, (it felt like we were in a military camp!) and then proceeded to scold my kid. I was ready to let it go, but due to the loud noise of the knocking, another kid asked me what happened and this guy just yelled at the kid to get back into his room. ARE YOU SERIOUS? This was the last straw, so I went up to this guy and calmly asked him: 'I'm sorry sir, do you need something?' He told me the kids were being loud, etc so I told him we apologized on behalf of them but next time, please do not knock like this on their doors, we would appreciate if he told us and we would talk to them (after all, they're kids). To sort of sum it up, after trying to calmly reason with him and he only being rude and disrespectful as I never experienced before, he said they were not kids, they were adults, he would do as he pleased 'cause it was "his job", that he could kick us out if he wanted. He never apologized for how he treated the KIDS (yes, they are kids, I even told him this). After enduring all his rudeness and disrespect, I asked for his name and he, in an arrogant manner, showed me his badge (while his partner made rude faces at me and rolled his eyes). He then asked me for my name, I told him and he said, yes we have your documents (??? what for?) just as means to intimidate me, I suppose. I'm not even sure this narrative truly portrays the picture of how disrespected and infuriated I felt to see how he treated kids (MY KIDS), how he treated us, threatened us, tried to intimidate us. Never expected this sort of treatment from a five-star hotel. By the way, the guard's name is Alexandre [-]. And in the future, if the hotel is not comfortable or has strict 'noise' policies, they should reconsider hosting high-school events, filled with, you guessed right, kids. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Palace Lisboa review

This is a fabulous property. The staff is absolutely fantastic both professional and friendly. A great value for the value. It feels like you are staying at a museum in this great late 19th century building decorated with furniture of the same time period. Be sure not to miss the chapel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Night at the museum...

Jan 19th, 2020

Great main building with lots of character and ornate museum like decorations. Fantastic check in with helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are a little tired and dated to be fair although clean. They are quite dark with limited overhead lighting and the expanse of dark wood which adds to the dated feel and certainly not modern boutique hotel style. The corridors are filled with ‘art’ which is comically all hung badly with not a single one actually straight. Overall a good stay with comfy bed but the inconsistency in the temperature across the hotel means some very cold walkways and really the rooms lack the details of many more modern properties like USB charging and surely tea and coffee facilities is a prerequisite? Good for business with the hotel set up to help with meeting facilities etc but not sure it would draw me back for a leisure visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
