Peter Island Resort is an ideal hideaway for luxury seekers – here, you're actually staying on your own private island (also named Peter Island) at the southern end of the archipelago (there are regular private launches to shuttle you back and forth from Tortola in the north). The resort's grounds are impressive, featuring an expansive spa, several dining options, five private beaches and legions of wild sea grapes and coconuts. To cut down on costs, recent travelers suggest booking an ocean-view room that faces the northern Deadman's Bay Beach rather than those looking out on Sprat Bay of Peter Island's southern coast. If money is no object, consider staying in one of the three super-swanky villas. Those come with several bedrooms (decked out in blue and green decor), private verandahs, fully stocked kitchens and – in some cases – personal chefs, valets and maids. Note: The resort was impacted by the 2017 hurricanes and is currently undergoing renovations. A reopen date is not available at this time.

Critic Reviews

Total pampering and prices to match are the ticket at this luxury resort. If you want to while away your days at the beach, enjoy a morning at the spa, stroll the lushly planted grounds, and relax over dinner with other like-minded guests, this is a good place to do it.

Condé Nast Traveler

Take a helicopter or boat to this 'private, secluded, pristine resort' near the island where Blackbeard is said to have marooned his men, just south of Tortola. A-frame chalets and villas have color schemes of green, turquoise, magenta, and orange.

Travel + Leisure

Elopers are common at this resort, and no wonder: the staff organizes everything before your arrival, leaving nothing for you to do but say, 'I do.' If marriage isn't in the cards, a couple can still take advantage of the countless coves, accessible only by sea.

Shermans Travel

A leader in BVI luxury, this private-island retreat offers the ultimate in relaxed sophistication and a staff that makes you feel as if you have the run of the place. The 52 rooms and suites (the best line postcard-perfect Deadman’s Bay Beach) and three villas vary in decor, from beachside elegance to contemporary chic, but all are spacious with ocean views.

This upscale private-island resort features five pristine beaches and 1,800 acres to roam. ... The villas also are the only units with televisions; but you will want to unplug, anyway, in order to experience the full rush of relaxation here in paradise.
