Wonderful Long Weekend

Jul 19th, 2019

We decided to schedule ourselves a long weekend to relax following super busy and stress filled work environments. The Pier House is the perfect location to sit back, relax and have a few cocktails from the beach bar. From the moment we arrived we were treated like family and found this place in perfect order and beautifully amended. The onsite spa was a little slice of heaven in itself, I would recommend a visit while there. Staff is incredibly nice, rooms are immaculate and views are stunning. We have decided this is the summer destination for us going forward. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Paradise without a passport

Jul 19th, 2019

I'll start by saying that the Pier House is my new favorite resort/hotel. I've stayed all over the country and nothing else compares. The grounds are gorgeous, the private beach is clean and the views cannot be beat. The room was very clean, the beds were comfy, and the sunset view from underneath the dockside suites may be one of the best spots on the entire island for photos. The food is really good ( try the lobster sliders at the beach bar! ), and the location cannot be beat. The staff went above and beyond at every turn, and we will DEFINITELY be back. Ultimate Key West Vacation Hotel

Jul 19th, 2019

The Pier House is AMAZING. It’s so rare to find a hotel where every staff member that you come in contact with is doing everything right. The Pier House is that place. The only problem is that the property and all its amenities, the rooms, the bars and restaurants, all make it hard to leave the hotel! Everything is impeccably clean. You get your own private beach, unbelievable views of the water, super friendly staff, and when you do venture out,all of the great reasons why you go to Key West are literally steps away from the hotel. Thank you Pier House for a fantastic getaway! We will definitely be back!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Place to Stay in Key West!

Jul 16th, 2019

I loved that Pier House has a beautiful private beach! The room was great - very comfortable and clean. The bathrooms are great, as well! Iguanas, lizards and chickens were walking around the grounds, and I thought that was the neatest thing! We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful resort, best beach area

Jul 15th, 2019

This was our second year staying at the Pier House. The resort is absolutely beautiful. The beach area is amazing, with lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas (don't forget to tip the beach staff,) and a great area for swimming complete with a floating dock. Bring your masks and snorkels- lots of fish to see on each side of the beach. We saw a sting ray, two nurse sharks, a manatee, crabs, and a ton of fish. It was an ocean- lover's dream come true. There are also a few Iguanas that hang out around the beach area. I know Floridians don't like them b/c they aren't good for the ecosystem, but it's cute that they come out toward the chairs as soon as they get a whiff of food. The beach staff were really nice- we loved Pek- he went above and beyond for us, and always had a smile on his face. He would put our umbrella up/ down when he saw us struggling with it, and knew which spot we liked best on the beach when we came down in the mornings to set up for the day. The beach servers are great too- we noticed one of the servers (she has blonde hair- can't recall her name) was working there last year too. She remembered our room number and our favorite drinks day after day- she was awesome! The grounds of the Pier House are beautiful- the garden area has a cool fountain, a turtle/ coy pond, and so many gorgeous flowers and plants. I normally like oceanfront rooms when we travel, but a garden room here is just as beautiful. Opening our patio door in the mornings to see the gorgeous greenery as we drink our coffee- ah, it was so wonderful. The only negative aspect of our stay was something that really didn't sit well with everyone in our party- the Pier House doesn't seem to be doing their part to conserve the ocean and ocean life. They use plastic straws in their beach drinks, and during our stay we pulled at least 10 straws from the ocean. I'm really surprised they don't use paper straws or no straws at all. Or maybe offer guests to purchase metal or silicone straws to use during their stay then take home with them. I really was shocked by this. There is also no trash can or bag on the floating dock. Irresponsible guests leave their trash on the dock and don't bring it back to the beach to throw away. That may be how all the cups and straws end up in the ocean. It was pretty terrible. There are also lots of pretty cool floats for guests to use in the ocean, however, they are filled with tiny white Styrofoam balls, and several of the floats had holes in them, so the small balls were leaking EVERYWHERE into the ocean. It was heartbreaking trying to gather up as much as we could to remove it from the ocean. They were the perfect size for the wildlife in that area to eat or get trapped in their noses, gills, etc. I also wish they would post signs asking guests not to handle conchs and other wildlife. We saw several people actually removing conchs and other sealife such as large hermit crabs from the water. We saw two people actually take conchs up onto the beach to show them to other people in the party and take pictures with them. It was heartbreaking. I really wish they would post a sign advising that it is illegal in Florida to handle Conchs and state the dangers and harm this poses to the wildlife. Over all we really enjoyed our stay. I just wish the Pier House would be more responsible and do their part for ocean conservation and wild life preservation. A trash can on the pier/ dock, floats that don't leak hazardous waste into the ocean, signs advising of wildlife safety, and no straws or offering straw purchases would make a world of difference.
