Million Dollar View in Southern California

May 26th, 2020

I have been to many oceanfront resorts in the US and this hotel sits so close to the beach. Beautiful oceanfront room as well as excellence service provided by Erica and her team. I would definitely recommend Pier South Resort for people who is looking for a quiet weekend getaway in Southern California. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Paradise in extreme Southern California: Pier South Resort, Autograph Collection

Mar 10th, 2020

I rolled the dice. I planned a reunion at an ocean-front hotel I knew nothing about in an area, Imperial Beach, that was, back in the day, when I lived in San Diego, unsafe. As it turned out, everyone in our party LOVED Pier South Resort, Autograph Collection. Everything about the experience was outstanding. The area was safe, somewhat eclectic, visually superb and the weather was exceptional. Particularly noteworthy were the hotel staff. From management on down everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful and sincerely interested in our well-being. Our ocean-front room was splendidly situated so that we could view the quirky Imperial Beach Pier, the glorious Pacific Ocean and surf (and the quintessential surfers) AND the various groups of people in the area. The hotel restaurant was superb. Those who served us were fantastic and unbelievably friendly. Plus, the cuisine and presentation were "to die for." We are already planning our follow-up reunion for next year -- same place; same time. If you want to be pampered and rejuvenated consider Pier South Resort. I've traveled all over the world and Pier South Resort is as good as it gets. I have not experienced anything comparable to the wonderfully blended combination of helpful staff, staggering sights, a fantastic room and an overall feeling of warmth, comfort, ocean breezes and camaraderie between the hotel staff and those of us who were fortunate enough to be staying there. The sunset rooftop "happy hours" with complimentary beverages and hors d'oeuvres and spectacular fire pits were memorable and fun. Yes, it's somewhat "out of the way" but in my opinion that is a distinct advantage. Pier South is far enough away from the crowds but within an easy commute to the "fun" and historical aspects of San Diego life. The next time you are considering Southern California as a destination think about Pier South Resort -- a true paradise on the extreme southwest coast of the country. You will NOT be disappointed. Maybe I'll see you there because I AM going to be a regular at Pier South in the future. Yes, I rolled the dice AND this time I won -- BIG TIME. Pier South Resort was, for us, Heaven on Earth. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beachfront Hotel. Beautiful view.

Feb 6th, 2020

Hotel has a nice lobby and room is modernized, but the room has a musty smell and the hotel hallways are open and cold at night- sort of like a motel style but with a nicer layout. Hotel personnel were super helpful and nice. Just watch out and don't drink the water bottles prepared for you in the hotel room- it'll cost you a whopping $5 each! Rooms are not super clean. Shower has a bad musty smell. I had a ocean view which was gorgeous!! You can borrow a bike for only a $20 resort charge and bike around the area. Very serene and beautiful! We biked down to the Corona park which was gorgeous! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing views, good staff, nice quiet beach, what more are you looking for?>

Jan 13th, 2020

I love reading the 2 and 3 star comments on a property. The 1 star people are usually just angry, so you can ignore them. The 2 and 3 star people find things to nit pick, that or the property really has issues. The people leaving 2 and 3 star here are nit picking. Sure, some of the metal in the room is rusting....ITS THE OCEAN 50 ft from the door that does that, not a bad housekeeper. Anyways, on to the review. The location is perfect. IB is quiet, nice to be away from the hustle of Gaslamp or crowds of La Jolla and Coronado. The property is great. Staff was super helpful. We were upgraded when our door lock kept failing. The onsite restaurant is pricey, so just walk over to Coronado Brewing or Doggo's and take it back to the room. Rooms are super spacious, tons of room, and the view is amazing. I will definitely be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Ocean view romantic

Jan 12th, 2020

We arrived late at night and as a platinum elite member I was upgraded to an oceanfront room. It was a clean modern oversized suite that we thoroughly enjoyed. Waking up to the beautiful view of the ocean breaking on the shore and the pier was stunning. We had breakfast in their restaurant and loved at the Buddha bowls. Quinoa topped with delicious vegetables and eggs. A late check out just made the stay even better. The only issue was the parking but I’m assuming that’s been taken care of. I highly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway or for the family to have fun in the pool and the beach. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
