Love that beach view
Dec 15th, 2020
QUICKIE REVIEW Have to love that beach view. Even better if you come during the summer. PARKING Yes and no. There is free parking connected to the hotel but it is limited. They do have street parking and a valet option. SERVICE Did not use any services. ROOM Nice room with a solid beach view. If you are looking to set a romantic scene, cannot beat waves crashing on the beach, even at night. Bonus, if you love people watching, you have a premium view. PRICE Over $200 but considering all rooms are suites, not bad. OTHER THOUGHTS Beware the rooms that say partial view. They are true to their word about seeing the ocean, partially that is. Our experience with the hotel is mixed. We stayed last weekend for our wedding anniversary. The staff of the hotel is very nice and polite. As a Titanium Marriott member, we received an upgrade to an oceanfront suite. The hall ways are in bad need of a refresh. The room doors and the halls all are showing much wear and tear. The suite itself was spacious, nicely decorated and had an amazing view of the pier and beach. The sound of the waves was also a highlight. Getting two small bottles of sparkling wine as an anniversary gift was a nice touch. Our main complaint about our suite was the air conditioning not working. When we came to the room, the temperature in the room was 78 degrees. We called downstairs and a gentleman came to "fix" it. He assured us that the A/C would kick in into high gear eventually. We left our room and came back around 11pm. The AC wasn't working and the temperature went down to 76 degrees due to us keeping the door open to the oceanfront balcony. We did not sleep well due to the lack of air conditioning. The beds, linens and pillows were okay but a Motel 6 level. If you're looking for an oceanside location, this hotel can't be beat. If you're looking for a 4 or 5 star experience look elsewhere. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Really wonderful hotel!

We booked a 2 night stay here at the end of a 2 week long, grueling (but exhilarating!) trip across the US by car on Route 66. It was an excellent move on our part. We have friends and family in the area, so that also factored into our decision to stay in Imperial Beach vs San Diego. When we checked in, we were offered a room upgrade for an additional fee, so we took it. Room 212...a most spacious room with a huge outdoor balcony overlooking the Pacific (it also hangs over the restaurant below, but that didn’t bother us). The front desk staff was superb. The bell hops were also terrific, as we needed to valet our car and bring in a lot of stuff we used while on the road that we were leaving behind in California. We availed ourselves of the dining options at the restaurant and they were superb. Dinner was amazing. The calamari, the short ribs, burgers, salad, and delicious desserts. Also had breakfast twice. Prime rib hash, blueberry pancakes, eggs Benedict, and another southwestern breakfast dish that I can’t recall the name of. Great, locally roasted coffee! Our breakfast servers were on their A game. This was a tremendously successful stay. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it is not possible to experience all of the amenities at the hotel right now, due to Covid, but I suspect that the spa and fitness center would probably make it worthy of that last star. My only other comment is that I think they need to do a bit more cleaning in the public areas. The hotel was very busy the weekend we were there. The public restrooms near the pool and the elevators needed a good scrub down (but our room was spotless). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
I Love Everything About This Place
Sep 29th, 2020
I was a little worried about some of the reviews I saw on this hotel. Some people site dirty areas, and rusty room items. Well, it is the beach, and it was the most fabulous vacation spot! I’ve never been happier. It is ON the beach. The areas were not dirty, it was sand. The rust on a lamp should be expected. The salt air is very corrosive. My room was 213, oceanfront, and worth every penny. The staff was so very accommodating, and despite the Covid closure of the rooftop and daily cleaning, I had everything I needed, right after requesting it. Extra towels, coffee, cups. I cannot rare this room high enough. I have found my home away from home! So many nice places around, breweries, cupcake shop, on-site Sea180 restaurant (not cheap, but worth it!) Great view but very disappointing in just about every other way
Sep 16th, 2020
his was my first hotel stay post COVID and it really left both my wife and I disappointed. The hotel has a great location and i loved the view from the room. The restaurant downstairs was also surprisingly good and we loved eating breakfast basically right on the beach. Staff at the restaurant were also wonderful. On the downside- the hotel is really in need of an update. Our room had rusted door hardware, peeling wall paper, and the shower/tub switch was broken. Due to COVID there was no housekeeping which meant I had to call multiple times to get extra towels.. which when they came were all frayed. I also noted holes in the sheets that came for our sofa bed. The public areas were not much better. The hot tub was out of service and there was a broken glass door in the pool area. The latch of the side door leading to the beach was rusted and the showers used for sand removal didn't work very well. Staff seem friendly but also not very professional. When we arrived the bellman couldn't help us because the only luggage trolley was in use. Huh? This was all so disappointing because the pictures on the website look beautiful. My wife and I really looked forward to our first post COVID getaway but given how it turned out... we likely would've passed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
