Perfect Covid getaway

Mar 7th, 2021

My husband and I spent 6 nights here with our 3 kids for our 4-year-old's birthday in late February/early March. I read a ton of reviews and was looking for a break from Ohio's weather and Covid restrictions. Pink Shell was perfect! We had a 2 bed/2 bath room, which was absolutely perfect for spreading out with 3 kids. We loved having a full kitchen, dining room, and laundry. Our room could use a renovation, but it was clean and big, and that was good enough for us. We felt like Covid didn't exist while we were there- I only wore a mask for breakfast, and my kids never had to. It was glorious! One of the reasons we chose this resort was because they still had kids' activities. Ranger Rob is amazing! He is so good with kids of all ages, as well as adults, and my kids enjoyed the daily activities with him. Those activities are not offered on Sundays and Mondays, which I would have liked to have known ahead of time. Every day, there were crafts, games, or snacks by the pool. My kids enjoyed those! We were supposed to do a kayak tour with Ranger Rob, but my son woke up with swimmers' ear in both ears that day, and we had to go to the urgent care instead. We will definitely return and do the tour! We loved how close the beach and pool are together. My 9-year-old twins could walk back and forth between the two on their own, which they loved. The complimentary chairs and umbrellas at the beach were perfect. The sand is great for building, and my kids enjoyed morning and evening walks to look for living things on the sand. I loved that we could walk into town (.8 miles away on the beach, but you can also on a sidewalk), and I saw dolphins by the pier every morning when I walked. The best part was people were normal there- not terrified of Covid. We met three really nice like-minded families, and my kids got to play with their kids the whole time while my husband and I enjoyed the parents. My kids also played with a lot of other kids and parents in the pool, and everyone was great. It's been a long time since we could engage normally with people (we live in Ohio). My only complaint would be the free breakfast- it was pretty awful. I don't understand why they would not be set up in their normal restaurant (it's in a "ballroom" off of the lobby instead). They have two other functioning restaurants, so Covid doesn't seem like a good excuse. The eggs were just terrible, and the rest was not much better (so much sugar!). Next time, I would just order my groceries and eat in the room. The other two restaurants were pretty good, and the pool and beach-side service was super convenient. We will absolutely return in the future! It was a wonderful family vacation and just the escape we needed! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great resort! Highly recommend the Kayak tour with Ranger Rob!

Mar 4th, 2021

5 of us stayed at the Pink Shell Beach view room for 6 nights in February. The resort was wonderful. Our room was 2 bed/2 bath with spacious balcony. We had fun during the days between the beach and pool. Pool bar staff were fun and attentive. Pool area is very nice and the beach is beautiful. Some evenings we ate dinner at the resort but we also enjoyed the walk to Times Square where there are many restaurants and shops. Breakfast was included with our stay and was good with several options. Our favorite part of our stay was the Kayak Tour with Ranger Rob. He is so passionate about his job and the wildlife there. We had lots of fun and learned so much from him. Our 9 yr old son really enjoyed him and the activities he offered throughout the week. I highly recommend doing the Kayak Tour and if you have children, sign them up for the daily fun! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Highly recommend kayaking

Mar 2nd, 2021

One of the highlights of the trip was kayak tour. We were novice kayakers and tour guide assured us we would have no problems. It was a great way to get out and see some of the natural environment and wildlife. The property is beautiful and on a quieter part of the beach. Was nice that beach chairs and umbrellas were included and readily available even on the weekend. Rooms are spacious and up to date. Would not recommend the hotel bar. There are many other options within walking distance with better service, tastier food and more enjoyable entertainment. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Kayak eco tour with Ranger Rob

Mar 1st, 2021

Had the best time with Ranger Rob. We were a group of 3 adults and child, and I. Ranger Rob gave safety information and a short lesson of how to operate the kayak and the paddle, before we went on our way. Ranger Rob is very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife, especially about the manatees and dolphins. And we saw the best natural dolphin show, we stayed quietly around to see the dolphins in their natural environment, playing and hunting. We had crossed the boat channel without too much excitement, and explored the back waters and mangrove tunnel. We also saw a manatee calmly cruise by in Bunche creek!! All in all a great experience with a great guide. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
