Great location - lots to see and do

Jan 20th, 2020

Savannah is such an interesting area, with lots of great things to see and do. Planters Inn is a convenient location to all. Be aware that the hotel does not have on-site parking - valet parking only for the public parking garage across the street. Also, it is located in the entertainment district. We were there on a Saturday night, and the noise from pedestrians (probably going to the public parking garage) went well past 4am. Saturday night was the only night we heard street noise. Wonderful and charming experience; we wish we could've stayed longer!

What sweet memories for my wife and I at decades end through our idyllic stay in Savannah together with great friends, having good fun, and staying at the Planters Inn. We flew from Hong Kong to Atlanta and Tallahassee for a family Christmas. We then drove to Jacksonville, stayed on St. Simons and made it up to Savannah just before the New Year for an overnight at the Planters’ Inn. We were very fortunate to meet my oldest school chum from Florida, who, together with his wife (founders of our favorite friends’ group) are world adventurers whom we often meet in our travels. In addition, my friend is a Savannah native, adding an on the ground advantage and another level of genuineness and perception to our experience. I was able to secure our Planters’ Inn arrangements with the kind assistance of their GM, Mr. Marc Friday, who was fantastic, and who provided great rooms for us. Both couples had balconies overlooking Reynolds Square which provided a sublime, historic and charming experience. As we popped a bottle of champagne on the Inns’ balcony and with college football in the background, the party swung into gear like old times. We made our way to the Pink House Tavern for cocktails, then, on to Vic’s On the River for dinner and Wild Wings on Bernard for late night drinks and west coast time college football. We took off the next day with incredible remembrances centered around our friends, fun and of course, The Planters Inn. The hotel is a Grande Dame of a certain age and while she could use some attention here and there, nothing could detract from our positive experience overall. Indeed, the old gal is in pretty good shape with much credit due to the team behind the scenes who make the magic work, from; concierge to valets, housekeeping and reception; everyone was polite, on-time, on point. Add to that are the little extras adding to our special stay, like afternoon cocktails and juicy red apples at reception. Yes, what a great time we had! We’re grateful to have had the chance to stay at such an historic building. We love The Planters Inn and can’t wait to return! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location!

Great location in the historic district! Nice rooms, service was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to riverside and historic sites was a bonus. Wine and cheese reception was a nice touch, but some type of background music would be pleasant. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No sleep at Planters Inn

Jan 8th, 2020

I have not complained about a hotel room in the past. This room had a rattle from the heater/air-conditioner that kept us up ALL night. Then there was something going on with the water pipes that resembled Mike Tyson cage fighting and having a throw down above us. I even had ear plugs in and it woke me up with a startle. Room had an empty wine bottle under the bed and mold on the bathroom shower. It was pricey and when we shared the noise at checkout, they said, "Thanks for letting us know". We had 12 hours of driving ahead and no sleep. Too bad because the quaint little place could have been awesome. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Location, location, location

No way this hotel would receive a four star rating if it wasn't so well located. Previous reviews from months back state the ceiling issues and the elevator issues. They obviously have no intentions of making these repairs or they would be done by now. The wine and cheese served in the afternoon was grocery store wine, but she poured servings like it was $400/bottle. There's no refrigerator in the room. Television is outdated. 10 minutes wait for the elevator. Why do I give Planters a 4 star rating ??? Location, location, location. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
