Loved our stay, but there were a couple of issues.

We absolutely love the location of Planter’s Inn. Just a 5-minute walk to River Street, it’s right next door to The Olde Pink House, a 3-minute walk to Leopold’s, and lots of other restaurants and shops close by. Ray, the front desk clerk when we checked in was so friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, although some of the furniture is beginning to look a little worn. We were disappointed that because of Covid, they weren’t serving breakfast, but they recommended Henry’s right around the corner, and it was so good that we ate there all 3 mornings that we were there. I enjoyed morning coffee in our room, but wish that we had some packages of decaf coffee in addition to the regular Wolfgang Puck coffee. When we first arrived our room and the hallway had a very strong, but pleasant smell, but after the first day we began smelling a musty, mildewy smell, which leads me to wonder if the strong smell that we smelled upon arrival was an effort to cover up the mildewy smell. There were two problems with our room (Room 401) that we brought to the desk clerk’s attention (I don’t remember that gentleman’s name) but he didn’t apologize or really seem to be concerned. The first problem was with the bathroom light over the sink. It would randomly come on and then turn off a few minutes later. The desk clerk said that it was on some type of sensor, but if I’m getting ready in front of the mirror with the light turned on, why would it randomly turn off all of a sudden with me standing right there? It wasn’t a flicker, as if it had a short in it. It would be on for about 3 minutes and then turn off for about 3 minutes. My husband and I joked that it must be one of the “ghosts”. The second problem was inside our closet. One of the ceiling panels had fallen halfway off and was just hanging there. Something from above had leaked onto the items that we had placed on the shelf before the ceiling panel came loose. I’m including a photo of the panel that was hanging and also a photo of the wet spot on the shelf from whatever was leaking. Overall though, we loved our stay and will definitely return in the future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great girls trip

Came here for a girls trip and everything was wonderful. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the location means you can walk everywhere. Jennifer at the front desk was so friendly and helpful booking tours and restaurant reservations. She was extremely helpful especially since none of us had ever visited Savannah before. We will definitely be back to stay at the Planters Inn. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at the Planters Inn. The location is great. We had a room overlooking the square and really enjoyed that. Our room was very quiet--so quiet in fact that we did not hear the people next door until we saw them leaving. There is no breakfast or afternoon wine because of Covid which is disappointing but there is a great breakfast place around the corner. The only negative was the one of the two elevators was not working while we were there. Most of the time that was not an issue but there was a bit of a wait when it came time to check out. Also there seemed to be a limited bellhop staff on Sunday morning. Overall, we had a very nice visit and would recommend Planters Inn to others. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Our second stay
Oct 26th, 2020
We just enjoyed a weekend in Savannah. This is our second stay at Planters Inn. The wait staff was awesome - absolutely no complaints there. Each person we encountered went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. However, beware the location next door to a public parking garage! The first night there was a brawl, and the second night, loud, racing car engines. This all begins after 2:00 am when the bars close. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Historic Hotel in need of upgrade

Last time I was here I rated this place a 5. Not this time. Whether it is the Covid or something else, this is not that anymore. Room was not ready on time, but did get one overlooking the Square. A must. Room furnishings are outdated. Without a fan, bathroom steams up all the time. TV had numerous channels with fuzzy reception. Carpet needed replacing. Mattress needed replacing. Went to get car from valet parking on Monday. No service on a Monday altho they still charge for it. Only one person working at front desk. No other employees. Great location. Great setting. But...... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
