Staff is Amazing

Feb 20th, 2020

I spent 5 days at this resort and every member of the staff was amazing. The food and beverage manager (Eli) is probably one of the best I have encountered....his “peeps” Kevin and Jordan were absolutely amazing and made our trip!!! My wife and daughter felt like family with this staff! We can’t wait to come back to this resort! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful vacation!!! Loved Playa Largo!!!

Feb 18th, 2020

The keys have been on my bucket list, We booked five night and thought we would be bored. It was wonderful!! Loved the Playa Largo Resort, the staff was so happy and helpful. The beach is perfect and my kids (13 & 16) had a wonderful time and enjoyed lots of water sports (additional cost but worth it!) we snorkeled, paddle boarded, kayaked, did a sunset snorkeling cruise and parasailed. It was amazing five days!! We all can’t wait to come back!! Playa Largo thank you for a great vacation! We highly recommend and can’t wait to return!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Really poor service

Feb 16th, 2020

Beautiful hotel but such a shame about the service. We stayed for 2 nights, and unfortunately experienced really poor service on multiple occasions: (1) Began with checking in, which is supposed to be at 4pm. By 4.30 we finally got our room, with the explanation for the delay being that the hotel was ‘busy’. (2) We went to the lobby bar for pre-dinner drinks. The 2 bar staff did not acknowledge us or make any form of contact for around 10 minutes, seemingly preoccupied with who knows what. We were the only people at the bar and tried several times to get their attention. When we finally got served, it was brusk and without apology for the wait. (3) at dinner at La Marea, we ordered wine as dinner was served, which only arrived after we had finished eating. After being given the desert menu, the waiter disappeared for 15 minutes, by which time our appetite for desert had gone. (4) Rooms not made up until 2.30 pm and only after 2 phone calls to housekeeping. (5) we had dinner reservations at Sol By The Sea at 7.15. When we turned up at 7.15 the greeter said our table wasn’t ready as ‘ the kitchen needs to catch up’. We could see the whole restaurant, there were literally only half the tables occupied. We said that’s fine, we were happy to sit at our table and have a couple of drinks before dinner. The greeter said no, we could not sit at a table, despite having reservations and despite the restaurant being only half occupied. We asked to speak to the manager and suddenly were allowed to go to our table. Really really poor service. Again. We won’t be coming back O TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Winter getaway

Feb 16th, 2020

AMAZING RESORT. They give you a pineapple mojito when you first step in the door!! Highly recommended - and if you have children they will love it too. Family friendly. Beautiful pool and beach; watersports. ENTIRE staff is so kind, cheerful and accommodating. If you stay here do not miss Eventide - held every evening when the sun starts to set. 6 Days of Heaven

Feb 13th, 2020

As my wife and I drove from Miami to Key Largo, we kept expecting some kind of village or small town area where we could stroll in the evenings. Unfortunately, Key Largo is mostly a thin strip of land with the usual collection of seafood restaurants, local businesses and resorts of various sizes and qualities. So, as we got closer to Playa Largo, we prepared ourselves for disappointment. Well, we were delightfully surprised to find this relatively small gem of a resort tucked gently into the bayside of the Florida Keys. Playa Largo has (I’m told) only 280 beds (unlike the JW Marriott Marco Island with more than 800 beds) and features a gorgeous pool, a sandy beach with lots of shade-providing trees, and clear-as-glass ocean waters where the occasional reef shark, stingray, manatee and their friends swim slowly by to check out the guests floating, swimming but mostly sunning in the waters. Playa Largo offers all the necessities of water of all sizes and shapes, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and floats. And, amazingly, all are very reasonably priced for a high-end resort. The daily highlight of the resort is Evantide when the sunset is celebrated with music, pineapple-alcohol drinks, and breathtaking views of the setting sun (see attached photo). As darkness expands, guests are invited to write messages that are then placed in fire urns encouraging that all wishes come true. And, then there’s the food...much of it is as you’d expect...a wonderful array of tropical meals at four different venues on property. But, we plant-based eaters, we were skeptical of finding adequate options for ourselves. Chef Aaron to the rescue! Chef Aaron prepared several custom vegan dinners for us that rivaled some of the best plant-based restaurants we’ve enjoyed. He took great pride in offering three course meals and using all fresh and unprocessed ingredients. Chef Aaron gets our highest accolades for caring about his dinners! The staff overall were amazing! I have half a dozen business cards from various managers who insisted we contact them if we needed anything. Every stay has some snafu and we had one dinner gone awry (not one of Aaron’s) and when the venue manager discovered the flaw, he made sure we had a reasonable meal...and refused to let us pay for it. Every evening ended with adult beverages around the beach fire pit where we made many new friends..ok..acquaintances. But, still, we enjoyed meeting many nice people with very different stories to share. We’ve been to numerous hotels and resorts in our lives, but Playa Largo stands out for its beauty, for its service but most of all, for its people...among the kindest and most responsive we’ve encountered. I can’t recall everyone who offered a smile and attention but kudos to Eli, Sheyla, Abigail, Justin and many more. As Arnold once said “we’ll be back!”. Or something like that...
