Excellent staff, location, and amenities

Oct 20th, 2020

My husband and I have stayed at the Plaza twice this year and we are looking forward to our next visit. All of the staff are friendly and willing to help. We always book an oceanside room on a higher floor for the view. The rooms are spacious and clean. Due to Covid, the kitchenettes are not equipped with the usual utensils and dinnerware, but it is available upon request. Also due to Covid, daily room cleaning is not available. We were given written instructions to leave our used linens and trash outside the door and they would be swapped for fresh linens, but fresh linens were never left. We had to call the desk each time, so that was kind of annoying. *Who we liked* 1. Brandon - Upon arrival, Brandon was our concierge attendant. He quickly helped me get our bags to the room while my husband parked our truck and trailer. Brandon showed me the room and made sure to point out the very high threshold at the sliding door so that we didn't trip onto the patio. He even suggested some restaurants close by. Then he rushed to the parking lot at the opposite end of the property to make sure my husband was ok with parking. 2. Brett - we love Brett the bartender!! We spent several afternoons lounging at the pool and Brett was so much fun while also providing spectacular service. He would even deliver drinks right to the edge of the pool! We really got the feeling that he cared about his customers and made us feel right at home. We will be sure to look for him right away on our next trip. *What we liked* - RDIF bracelets instead of key cards! (no more misplacing my keycard!) - easy to charge everything to your room - no smoking anywhere except a designated area away from the pool - No need to leave the Plaza if you just want to chill...poolside bar & cafe, restaurant & bar, lobby bar, pool, spa, gym, convenience store, onsite laundry, private beach access, basketball, cornhole, gas firepits, and free use of bikes, boogie boards and surf boards for 1 hour (you can rent them for longer) - a very short walk to stores, bars, and restaurants - pool towels supplied - trailer parking - designated motorcycle parking (bike week & biketoberfest) - shampoo, conditioner, & shower gel dispensers in shower - in-room safe for valuables - bloody mary bar on friday & saturday - fish tacos and bucket drinks at the pool cafe - the staff put together a fun scavenger hunt for Biketoberfest that involved getting out into the community and different businesses * What we didn't like * - it was extremely difficult to hear/understand the front desk staff behind full plexiglass and face masks - we were not told upfront that parking is an extra $13/day (the trailer was another $25/day) - the bathrooms are very small - the dresser drawers smelled a bit musty, like they had been cleaned and then closed while still wet - we stayed on the 10th floor which was nicely decorated in the halls, but we ventured to the 14th floor which was like we went back in time! Definitely not as nice, although our family member's room was very nice. - breakfast in the restaurant was extremely slow, although we were only 1 of 2 tables being served. The pancakes were dry as sand! The waitress was excellent and took them off our bill. The eggs benedict was delicious, but could have been warmer. We found a better breakfast place called Heffer's and went there every day thereafter for way better food at 1/2 the price. * What we heard * - there are new owners who are renovating an area that used to be another bar into a bar/outdoor cafe - the hotel is haunted...you can see video evidence on youtube! We will definitely be back and are hopeful that the new owners make some great improvements! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice weekend getaway

Oct 18th, 2020

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Plaza resort and spa for our 5 year anniversary and it was just what we needed. Everything was very nice and clean. We had a amazing view of the balcony and the pool service bar was awesome. The bartender Brett was amazing and made us feel welcome the entire weekend! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our stay at the Plaza Resort & Spa was the best we’ve had in a while. This was our second couple trip without children & we were both very happy with our stay. It is close to everything that we needed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Brett

We had an amazing time here for a wedding. The ballroom space was fantastic and the food was excellent. The staff was attentive, and the amenities were great. Plenty of great spots in walking distance. Brett was our favorite bartender! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
