Wonderful Hotel!

Jan 21st, 2021

Everything about the Plaza is excellent. From staff, service and food, this place has it all. Very convenient to many shops and restaurants. Lovely pool area with easy beach access. Loved it and will return, beautiful all around. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Most enjoyable experience.

All Staff, but especially "Lee" in the outside recreation was very friendly and accommodating. The Plaza is beautiful and historical. The outdoor recreation includes large pool, outdoor snack shack, large lounging area and basketball courts full of different activities for the young and the young at heart. Beautiful view from hotel bar. Took advantage of the spa services and specials. Very nice way to spend our anniversary. Cant wait to come back and bring the whole family. Thank you one and all! They Lied

Jan 15th, 2021

We haven't travelled for over a year, but we needed a place to stay in Daytona and my wife totally sweated over the reservations. She called - directly - several hotels. The rep at the Plaza made her feel comfortable this would suit our needs - a spacious suite with a separate bedroom and perfect, direct ocean view. We had to choose between the "Ocean Front Studio" with a wrap-around, corner balcony and "Ocean Front Hospitality Suite," described at the hotel's website as "The Plaza’s superior accommodations." I, unfortunately, had to attend conference calls all weekend and we really need the separate room, so we opted for the Ocean Front Hospitality Suite - the most expensive room in the entire hotel. The agent making the reservation (i could hear in the background) said: "you're in for a treat!" My wife left earlier tonight (Friday) and I stayed home and planned to join tomorrow evening after day 1 of my weekend conference. My wife arrived and called me - and said: "OMG, this is so disappointing." The room DOES NOT have a separated bedroom. And, the purported "ocean view" is blocked by a gigantic architectural structure. She called me, almost in tears - all that time to pick a great room and she was totally lied to. Here's the best part: I called the hotel and tried to speak with the Manager on Duty. A staff member, Jordan, took the call - and she was very polite and said all the right things - except that a manager would not even get on the phone with me. Essentially, i was told that my wife (who is already upset and stressed and now, at 8 pm, trying to feed our 7-year-old daughter, would need to come to the front desk herself if she has a problem with the room. I have 2 issues with that position: 1. You failed to deliver what you promised and that, in itself, is a problem. 2. By refusing to even speak with me and insisting that my wife (who can, indeed, fend for herself) "come down to the front desk," you are in fact, passively or aggressively, engaging in a sort of misogynistic tone that I take offense with. You want my wife - ok fine. But I warned you! If you look at my reviews, you will see they are mostly positive - generally 4--5 stars. Even the one crappy place that disappointed me got a 3-star. But, WHEN YOU LIE AND USE TACTICS INTENDED TO INTIMIDATE, I NEED TO DRAW THE LINE. THUS, THIS HOTEL EARNS THE DISTINCTION OF MY FIRST ONE-STAR REVIEW AND A RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS. IF THEY'LL LIE ABOUT THINGS LIKE THIS - ESPECIALLY IN THE COVID ERA - WHAT ELSE WILL THEY LIE ABOUT???? In the meantime TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Made reservations paid in full including resort fees and parking arrived at hotel to check inn got charged again for resort fees and parking because we booked thru Resort provided no towels no trash bags ask for cart to take suitcases and items to vehicle we were sent back to our room and waited over a hour no one showed up so we had to make 3 trips carting it down ourselves. You pay resort fees and they provided nothing Was also $108.00 more money taken out of our bank account by they said their having trouble and would send billing e mail shortly it was never sent I called them back and spoke with them they said they have no record of the reservations but I also provided the comformation no they gave me the same one I checked in with But they sill had my bank card information to take the money out I say this was fraudulent on both and Plaza Resort & Spa Plaza Resort would even give me a receipt for any thing but where I paid for the second time the resort fees and parking I will never recommend or stay at the Plaza Resort & Spa in Dayton again Manager also called me because I posted a bad review and did nothing to resolve the issue I do not recommend anyone to stay at Plaza Resort & Spa Daytona Beach Florida D. Good experience

Jan 8th, 2021

We enjoyed our stay. We would have liked to utilize the one hour rental included in our booking, but the only available rentals were for water sports, in January, when the water is too cold for Florida people to enjoy. Building could use some updates in order to be considered "grand." However, we had a pleasant stay and a clean room. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
