Freaking Awesome Experience and Overall Stay!!

Jun 23rd, 2019

I stayed at the the hotel due to a business meeting, but decided to stay a couple extra days. Here's what I loved: 1. Free bike rentals. 2. The Beds and rooms are clean and comfortable, not too overdone just has just everything that you need. Plus, you can get a $5 credit at the restaurant if you don't get service daily in your room. (Paid for my daily Iced Americano!) 3. The staff- they are awesome at remembering you, gretting you and making you feel at home. Aaron, Joseph and Chris at the front desk were super friendly and knowledable and I also loved Ingrid who worked on servicing the rooms. 4. They had two types of infused water in the lobby. 5. There is a small fitness center with 2 ellipticals, treamills and a bench with dumbbells up to 50lbs. Enough for a quick workouts! 6. Shopping and pier are super close. The only downside was it was cloudy most of my trip, however I still enjoyed walking on the pier nearby and riding the bikes! I will definitely be back again! Thank you Portofino Hotel and Staff!! Fire alarms going off

Jun 19th, 2019

The fire alarm went off 3 times at midnight one night. 2 coffee pods are $5! Coffee should always be complimentary in my opinion. Front desk charged the wrong credit card and I had to call to have the transaction reversed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice Hotel but they do not do things my way

Jun 19th, 2019

The Portofino Hotel and Marina is a very nice hotel. If you stayed there you probably would not be disappointed. They have a lot to like in a hotel. The staff were very pleasant and eager to try and help. The location is great, near the boardwalk with lots of nice restaurants within walking distance. The Baleen restaurant at the hotel has great food and nice portions for your typically expensive hotel restaurant. My room had a nice layout with a T-shaped design where one half of the room was a sitting area to watch TV from the couch and French doors out to the nice sized balcony with a marina view. On the other side of the “T” was a comfortable bed. The decor is up-to-date and sharply appointed. I really liked the mirror in the bathroom which had a picture frame like design where the matting around the mirror was a circumferential light. You get an in room safe, iron and ironing board, bath robe, hotel priced mini-bar, etc. The Portofino has most of the things you expect in a nice hotel. But on the down side, they do not do things my way and what I expect. First we arrived before guaranteed check in time and were told they would expedite our room setup, which ended up being only 15 minutes ahead of guaranteed check in time. If you cannot expedite the room cleaning just tell me, do not fill me with false hope I can check in early. Instead of individual bars of soap they have pump bottles of body soap, shampoo, conditioner that I can tell by the dents have been repeatedly dropped in the shower. Plus I hate trying to shower with pump soap, it is too much work just to lather up. The shower had one of those rain-head shower nozzles. I do not like those as the only nozzle in the shower. I have never figured out how to rinse my legs or easily run hot water over my aching back from the over head flow. They have walk in showers with only a half door, thus even with a bath mat the floor gets wet. There were no cups in the room. The front desk was nice enough to deliver cups but then housekeeping took them the next day and did not leave clean ones. They had infused water in the lobby but twice when I went through the lobby, no cups. Note to management, you need more cups. Also no ice bucket in my room. I had to ask the front desk for a bag to put ice in, which they ran out of the second time I asked for one. And they only have ice machines on the first floor. Put an ice machine on every floor. In room coffee or a tea bag is $1. Just charge me an extra dollar on the front end and let me have a tea bag. And they had a problem with their fire alarm system and it kept going off repeatedly at 10:30 at night. That issue was probably beyond their control but it still bothered me. I certainly sound whiny but they have a different way of doing hotel business then the type of experience I prefer. I am sure some MBA told them this is the best business plan but I want a little bar of soap to shower with and an ice bucket to be happy. Finally just because it was not my best hotel stay, I would not count them off your list. I just think management needs to pay a little more attention. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Business for him, relaxation for me!

Jun 18th, 2019

Checked into portofino hotel in Redondo beach ca for a nearby seminar for my husband. Right off the bat Joseph at check in was WONDERFUL. Gave us a perfect room (#273) on the ocean side with two views. Although you can't go wrong as one view is the ocean, the other is the harbor. Joseph was very polite, helpful and efficiently described all the amenities available for us. Then Jackson, (the bell man) was delightful as well. Helping with the luggage, engaging about what was around us and saying if there was anything at all he could do to make our stay better, just let him know. Nice, clean, beautiful little gem in Redondo Beach. If you are in the area or plan to visit DONT MISS THIS HOTEL. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
