Private hotel perfect for post Covid-19 Bangkok Staycations

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐳𝐨, 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐤 has resumed welcoming guests so we took the opportunity last weekend to get to know this charming hotel a little better. 💛 The first thing you need to know is that you can only arrive at this rather exclusive little hotel (15 rooms) by their private boat. We left the car at the Wat Rachathiwat Pier and the car was fine for the weekend. There is a closer pier if coming by taxi. 💛 I felt comfortable booking this hotel because of their extra health and safety measures in the current Covid-19 climate - Staff wore masks, rooms deep cleaned, towels were safety wrapped and low guest occupancy. 💛 When you enter the hotel grounds you can’t help but immediately feel at ease. The 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 location is peaceful. The soothing yellow buildings, the swimming pool amidst the gardens, and you will wake to the little birds singing! 💛 I loved the vibe here, it was a bit like going to stay at our rich Thai friend's house (if we had any!) The staff were all so helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we wanted. 💛 History buffs will love the Siam period decor, you feel like you have stepped back in time. However, do be aware that whilst this mostly comes with all mod cons there is the odd peeling paint and maybe a slightly old fashioned bathroom. 💛 I felt like I was on a movie-set. What’s more, I was the star of the show! This hotel is popular for weddings and special events (usually!) and they are excellent with their customer service. We were celebrating a significant birthday and they did a good job making the birthday boy feel special. 💛 We stayed in one of the suite rooms, the bed was firm. I loved the elegance of the 1900’s those colourful walls, the antique furniture of a bygone era. 💛 The biggest highlight was all the delicious Thai food. Our 5-course Thai set dinner was wonderful. Congratulations to Chef Na. Breakfast included a western-style menu but it is the Thai food that will leave the lasting impression 💛 Loved the swimming pool area - we ate all our lunches beside the river. Loved being taken to Rama 8 Park early morning (by boat!) and walking back to the hotel. The local community surrounding the hotel is a vibrant one it's off the beaten track for most tourists. 💛 A massive thank you to all the staff, you do an awesome job, we had an unforgettable and special weekend. Such a lovely hotel. The staff can't do enough, they are all very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is amazing. We had the tasting menu and loved it. The waitress was fantastic. So knowledgable about the history of thai food and keen to share her knowledge. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We loved this place. The hotel is a beautiful century old building done in the Italian style. Loads of character. We had a great room just by the pool. You can only reach the hotel by the 24 hour hotel boat. They give you a mobile phone for your stay to call the boat. The system works well. The dining room is great with a nice included breakfast. We had no trouble getting any style of eggs with the full English. Good buffet. The staff provide an outstanding service. Once on the other side of the river everything is just a short taxi ride away. The pool was superb for cooling off. We are looking forward to our next stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here while in Bangkok. The hotel is attractive, quaint, but a little worn around the edges. Taking the boat across the river to get back and forth worked out well, even when departing/arriving very late at night or early in the morning. The breakfast was adequate, with a buffet plus a menu for cooked items. The menu portions were quite small. In addition they were oddly inflexible. For instance, I wanted the English breakfast but requested that my eggs be scrambled instead of fried; nope. They would only serve it with fried eggs. Yet I could order scrambled eggs, beans, and broiled tomatoes all a la carte. But the room was clean and comfortable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
