Perfect getaway

Jan 16th, 2021

We had the perfect mix of relaxing by the pool and beach as well as the fun activities that happen at the pool during the day. They have awesome prizes like free bottles of champagne etc. which made it all the more fun. The poolside food & service is delicious!!! All the staff is extraordinarily friendly. I’ve been coming to the Rose since I was 5 years old and 20 years later I still continue to love every minute of it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Mare Nostrum Review

Jan 16th, 2021

We were lucky to have Evaristo as our waiter two days in a row. He was attentive and he even remembered that we drank cappuccino. Breakfast is pretty good and the view is spectacular. We will definitely be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Three and a half stars at best

Jan 16th, 2021

Booked here last minute on a RCI exchange, mostly for its proximity to the marina. We’ve stayed at PBSB before, which was wonderful on all levels with the only drawback being it’s distance from the marina. We knew going in that PBSB is considered a step up in quality from Rose and Blanco, but we didn’t expect Rose to be so average. Clean and comfortable but far from luxurious. ROOM We had a 1BR executive suite which has 2 bathrooms and a minimal kitchen with a microwave, jr fridge and 2 burners. Surprisingly there weren’t any paper towels which is the first time we’ve stayed anywhere with a kitchenette that didn’t provide paper towels, dish soap or a sponge. The room definitely was tired and needs updating however it was clean and the beds (2 doubles pushed together to make one extra wide king!) were comfortable. As with most resorts in Mexico, the mattresses were extra firm but we prefer firm and were pleased. One aspect that we loved was the water pressure in the showers—unbelievably strong and wish we could duplicate that in our home in CA! Housekeeping was inconsistent (I could see my lip prints on the glass she “washed” and placed back in the cabinet) although we still tipped generously daily. POOL The single pool was fine but it could have been improved if it was heated. And it was odd that there was no hot tub. I know that some of the 2BR units have hot tubs on the deck but still, why wouldn’t a resort build a hot tub next to the pool? They had the typical activities at the pool along with loud music but we just selected lounge chairs away from the main speaker. FOOD The poolside food was good, especially on Wed and Fri when they offer a taco bar with a great selection of meats. Poolside service was excellent from Gustavo! He was so friendly and accommodating, keeping all of his guests happy. The room service food on the other hand was borderline inedible though. We had tortilla soup, steak quesadilla, steak tacos, wings, carrot cake and cheesecake. All of the hot foods were barely room temperature and even though we requested salsa and hot sauce, we only received ketchup packets. To their credit, both desserts were good. We also dined at the sushi restaurant on-site and that was another mistake. The only dish we enjoyed was the sashimi but the rolls, miso soup and chicken satay were less authentic than Panda Express! Again, all hot foods were lukewarm. Not sure why as the restaurant, like the resort, was well staffed and always had plenty of people on hand to assist. So how come they couldn’t manage to get the food to the tables at the right temperature? We would definitely consider other resorts over Rose given similar mid-price/rating such as Playa Grande, Hacienda Encantada or Marina Fiesta. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
